If a cooking class at The Kentucky Millstone isn't on your bucket list it should be because I'm telling ya it's spectacular. My friend & I signed up for the Intro to Yeast Baking class and I learned so much. The Kentucky Millstone is located in Butler, Kentucky. Chef Lori taught our class and was she a breath of fresh air. Excellent teacher and so nice. They have a multitude of classes to choose from as well as artisanal baked goods with ingredients from local farms. We got to taste the goodies we made and take home not only so many delicious baked masterpieces; but, an entire batch of dough to make even more delectables at home. I can't wait to sign up for more classes. Thank you Chef Lori.

What a cute place! The people were so nice and the food was good. The tomatoes soup is a must-have and the hot chocolate cookies were the best I've ever had. They are open on Sundays so we sre planming to come after church...especially when the outside patio opens for the summer. Also have some cute gift ideas and bread and mixes to take home.

    Food worth finding.

This is the breakfast place you have looked your whole life for! Great eggs, biscuits and gravy, and many kinds of breads. Hospitality that makes you feel like you're family. Great, great, great!

Danishes, Muffin and macaroons. Beautiful and delish!

Everything is so fresh, handmade, and yummy! I especially love the cracker crust on the pizzas, and when the owner makes salmon bagels.

The facility was beautiful, too-notch industrial kitchen, cute decor, a full battle, plenty of prep space, many areas to wash your hands, and every item of utensil you would need to prepare a quality meal. The chefs were great at helping us right along and keeping us on track. The food turned out deliciously. I also love that they will send you the recipes you prepared afterwards. Highly recommend! My aunt and I booked a class for the 2 of us. Upon arrival we were welcomed to sit and have snacks as well as a drink. The cooking class came with 2 drinks. They had fantastic non-alcoholic options. Mocktails that weren't an afterthought. It was fantastic! Our instructor took the time to explain how everything would work and then we were told to find our pre-assigned stations. At our stations, a lot of the prep work and measuring of ingredients was already done for us. This taught me a lot about prep work and successful cooking. I am not a very good cook and between my aunt and myself, we stayed at pace with the instructor. Absolutely friendly for beginners or those without cooking talent. When we finished cooking, we sat down back at our seats to enjoy the food we had prepared. I couldn't believe that I cooked what I was eating! We were sent home with their in house cookies and the recipes to what we cooked. Not only were the food choices delicious and awesome but the experience was so much fun! I highly recommend.

They classes seem expensive, but once you realize you get dinner with the class, it is actually a pretty good deal. Plus, you get 10% off of cooking utensils and stuff you buy on the night of your class. They use top notch ingredients, so I suspect the cooking school is a loss leader, meaning DLM loses money on the school to get you hooked on shopping there for the ingredients. Definitely worth a try. Chef Jen is a hoot!

I honestly what to spend hours at DLM salivating and scouring every aisle to see what bounty I might find! This particular store (which may not be unlike others, I just don't know because I haven't moved to this region yet.) offers a lovely wine selection with tables and a bar where you may enjoy a draft beer or a glass of vino. My understanding is this particular location also offers cooking classes, which I hear are expensive but oh, so much fun! The produce is always fresh. My fiancé got me a cooking class here as one of my Christmas gifts and it was such a fun date…read morenight! There were only eight people in the class and we were separated into two tables of four, so we did everything with another couple. A pro of this is that you don't have to do ALL the work - you can split tasks among people in your group and have time to watch/listen/learn/enjoy. However, that may be a con for people who want to do every step of the recipe themselves. A con to this could also come if you get paired up with people who are taking it seriously when you want to have fun or vice versa. Luckily the couple we were paired with were cool and liked to have fun and joke around, just as we did. Our chef/instructor was Rebecca and she was the best part of the class! She was very knowledgeable, engaging, and made us laugh a lot. She will even photobomb your pictures (she did warn us at the beginning haha) - photo evidence included! A big con for us is that they do not serve alcohol during cooking classes. However, you are technically allowed to bring in your own if it is not in the obvious wine/alcohol bottle. We brought wine in Yeti tumblers and they did not mind at all. However, it felt kind of odd because the other people were not drinking. In cooking classes we've done t other places, wine and beer was served throughout the entire class and just about everyone was taking part. Still, it's nice that you can enjoy some wine if you know this beforehand and remember to bring your own. The food was incredible!!! We made salads and lobster ravioli. It was my first time making any type of homemade pasta and now I'm set on getting the pasta making attachment on my Kitchen Aid mixer! The portions were not the biggest and there was no dessert (I have a HUGE sweet tooth so this was a disappointment for me). Still, all in all it was a fun experience. We will not be rushing back, but we're open to trying it again.
