We also had great service both times; the first time it was early lunch, and was not crowded, and the other was for wing night when the place was booming. We found the place to be very clean, and we loved the decor and music. On our first trip, we tried the chicken quesadilla, a fry basket, and the Meatloaf dinner. Everything was good, but the meatloaf stole the show. It was seriously one of my favorite meatloaf's i've ever had in a restaurant. We also tried a cheese wheel, and loved that, too. Our second trip was for wing night. We had to order another cheese wheel, and I tried a sampling of a bunch of different wings. I found that a lot were just different variations of their buffalo sauce. Another was just their ranch dressing with some pickled jalapenos cut up. I was not "super impressed" with the sauces I personally had, purely because they were all basically the same with minor changes....but, they were good. If you are a traditional buffalo sauce fan, then they are definitely for you. The wings were cooked perfectly, and I would definitely go back and try some other flavors. My family and I look forward to going back and trying something new.

We went on a Saturday night and they were out of chicken for chicken sandwiches, meatballs for the meatball hoagies and coleslaw. I was surprised there was no salad options. I did have the Italian hoagie and it was huge on Mancini bread buns. The prices are reasonable and the staff was nice enough. I'm still no sure. If I go back I will definitely provide a new review for the bar on 51.

They seem to try to keep their brews close to the original style. For example, their IPA is an excellent IPA in the traditional sense which I really appreciate. Nothing fruity or sweet, they hit what an IPA is supposed to be. So why not a higher rating? For me it's just because it's a pretty small place. It was busy the night we were there and they only had one bartender working so service was slow. She was really good, but there was only one of her. Keeping consistent with my eating scale, I'd be hesitant to drive half an hour to visit during the winter again. I heard that they have a really nice outdoor area that's right on the river, so maybe this summer we'll make the drive again to check that out. So yeah, if you're anywhere around Elizabeth, PA Firewhistle is definitely a solid place to get a good beer or two.
