That trust did not last long. I provided my evidence and text messages during the first week. Months later, just two hours before my final trial, Matt told me he had reviewed the evidence and suddenly said the messages created significant liability for me. Why wasn't this reviewed when he first received my evidence? I was also charged for a hearing where Matt had another trial involving a different client, and I was charged for a 7-minute phone call in which he told me he couldn't appear at my hearing because he was sick. The final trial was even more frustrating. I clearly told Matt that I wanted to present my side to the judge and let the judge decide. Instead, I was sent outside for what I was told would be a short conference. Nearly two hours later, I was brought back and told that a mutual agreement and stay-away order had been reached. This was not what I understood I was hiring him to do, and I did not feel that my wishes were properly represented. To make matters worse, my court minute order lists M. Garcia as my attorney, even though I never hired M. Garcia and do not know who that person is. After paying $7,500 plus additional fees, I expected preparation, communication, and representation--not to have my evidence reviewed at the last minute and to leave court feeling like my case was handled without my wishes being properly heard.
