There have been issues with theft in this area (not necessarily the apartments fault). We also had an ongoing issue with ants I'm not really sure why but after the last time we left bait out they stopped coming (something like 6 months ago). Lived here for just over two years. I noticed in the other reviews trash piling up. That hasn't happened in a while although I do occasionally see a couple bags by the compactor.

Through the seasons, the loudest it gets is in the summer time. The property was very clean and quiet. We had several things need service in the time that we lived there and they were attended to in a timely manner. Svetlana was very sweet and caring any time we talked to her. My husband and I both worked over nights and were only able to communicate through emails, Svetlana and the maintenance staff was very accommodating. They did send out quite a bit of emails about trash, noise and recycling but that's the other tenants fault, not the property. If everyone else that is renting in the apartments are doing their part to help keep (following trash and recycling rules), this is a very nice place to live!

Living here is... alright. But you can find better for the money…read more My move-in experience was not great. The unit wasn't properly cleaned. There was hair in the bathroom sink, food residue in the microwave, sticky spots on the floor (despite a $125 "floor cleaning fee"), and the dishwasher was broken. Ok, whatever, not the biggest deal in the world. The real issue is that the employee who did the walkthrough with me was completely unsympathetic, blamed everything on the cleaner who has been "slacking" lately, and just seemed annoyed more than anything that I spoke up. (To be fair, the manager and maintenance guy were sympathetic and helpful. They addressed the issue even though one was out of town and the other was on their day off.) Also during my walkthrough, when I tested the shower, it unexpectedly sprayed all over the floor. Again, not a big deal. But it was the reaction of the employee that stood out. As I looked around for something to clean it up, instead of offering to help or expressing any concern whatsoever, she literally just stood there and watched while looking like that was the last place on earth she wanted to be. Later in the day, while I was walking through the lobby, I overheard the employee complaining about me, as if *I* am the unreasonable one for expecting a clean unit upon move-in. Yeah, ok. I thought I left high school years ago. The building itself: It looks nice at first glance, but many things feel cheaply made. For example, I have ONE single drawer in my entire unit, which I assume is because drawers cost more to build than cabinets. The walls are paper thin. I am regularly woken up by the sounds of my neighbors having sex during supposed "quiet hours," which, to be clear, is an issue with the construction quality, not with my neighbors. The pet relief area on the roof usually smells quite bad, and it often makes me nauseous to stand near it. (I'm sensitive to smells though, so that might just be a me thing.) Unfortunately, taking my dog outside isn't any better because there is poop EVERYWHERE on the block. Evidently nobody on this entire block picks up their dog poop. It's probably in part because there isn't a single trash can on the whole block. You have to either walk to the park or the next block over to throw your dog poop away. Another small annoyance: Packages rarely end up in the actual lockers. I've found probably 80% of my packages by sifting through the piles of packages left in the lobby or downstairs foyer. Oh, and there's a months-long waitlist for garage parking. But arguably the most concerning thing about The Ruby: The questionable ethics and legality of their business practices. When I toured, the manager stapled a promo card to the informational paperwork and told me about a move-in incentive wherein she'll give me a $200 check if I apply within 24 hours of the tour and bring the card back to her after move-in. I applied within 24 hours and brought the card back to the manager after move-in. Then the bait-and-switch happened. She tells me she needs to submit the request to the management company and then she'll notify me when the check arrives. Ok, fine, whatever. She then calls me the next morning saying she just emailed me a lease addendum that I need to sign saying I'll pay back the $200 if I end my lease early. Um... what? I'm pretty sure a contract is formed when there's an offer, an acceptance, and consideration. As far as I can tell, a binding contract was formed when I completed those steps, and in my opinion, it's incredibly shady that the management company didn't follow through on their word and instead shifted the goal posts once I upheld my end of the bargain. In all honesty, I don't give a shit about $200. I don't care if I get the check or not (which, for the record, I have still not received despite signing their stupid addendum over two weeks ago). But this issue seems to be representative of the ethos of the management company as a whole. They don't really seem to care about the tenants or about doing the right thing. They seem to just care about making money. ***One very important thing I forgot to include in my Google review: The employee who did the walkthrough with me pressured me to sign off on the move-in inspection form BEFORE seeing the unit, which I stupidly agreed to because I didn't want to be difficult. She told me they always do it that way because it's easier, since we were already in the leasing office and wouldn't need to go back down to the office after the walkthrough. (The form was on the computer, not printed out.) She told me she would photograph any issues and add them to the inspection form after the walkthrough if there were any. I was reluctant to agree, but at that point I still assumed the business was acting in good faith and was hopeful there wouldn't be issues. In hindsight, I should never have signed off before seeing the unit, but more importantly, the employee should NEVER have asked me to do that.

Will start this review by saying we did not pick this apartment. We don't live there and this…read morereview is based solely off a tour we had with the manager. I loved these apartments. They were clean and modern with retro styling. The manager was a fantastic help and during our tour found that we enjoyed some similarities including WWE. My wife and I actually spent like an hour just talking with him he was so friendly and welcoming, they offered tons of amenities and even the small studios were fairly large and offered at a reasonable price. Ultimately this property made it into our final top three for both my wife and myself but we needed just a little more space and wanted to be closer to downtown. I would recommend this place and suggest that you put them on your stop to check out if your apartment hunting.

I strongly advise against applying here. I applied for a unit in mid-March at a rate of $1,391. For…read morethe next two months, I was essentially ghosted. My call logs show dozens of ignored attempts to get updates and a solidified move-in date. When they did call back, it was begrudging and only because I wouldn't stop calling. Their "waived deposit" hook seems like a way to justify bait-and-switch tactics. Management eventually admitted they had "accidentally" posted the unit before the previous family even moved out. I believe they also posted the unit for a lower cost than intended and, instead of honoring the mistake, they opted to drive me away with a hostile customer experience. They ignored me for 2 months, missed the April 14th move-in date listed on the application, and provided zero updates without me persistently reaching out for days first. Because I was relying on the promise of the unit at the price I applied for and the estimations on when the unit may be ready kept being pushed out, I had to pay an extra $250 in "month-to-month" fees at my current place just to keep a roof over my head while waiting for updates. To top it off, when the lease finally arrived in May, they hiked the rent to $1,476--nearly $100 more than the price I was quoted and applied for. I fully believe they did this intentionally, hoping I would walk away so they could repost the unit at a higher rate. I am going elsewhere and filing a formal complaint with the State Attorney General.
