I liked the Taiwanese-style lunch in the farmland or nursery and seemed like I was in Taiwan. (note: make sure to make a reservation by phone and ask Susan if they have an AYCE buffet because if they don't have enough people on that day then they won't have it. It's $20 per person and ages 9 years and under for half price. Cash only!) We went there on a Friday morning at around 10 a.m. after Christmas and we made a reservation about a few days before. It's located in Riverside and the nursery was pretty big. The owner's wife Susan told me that they had an AYCE buffet that day and that weekend. G & M Nursery has a lot of fruit trees and plants. They sold us a bag for $20 that we could fill up any fruits into the whole bag by ourselves. It was not cheap but it was for the experience. They also let us try some free samples of the sweet lemon and we also picked some to the bag. They tasted sweet, it was very unique indeed. For the AYCE Taiwanese buffet, they had a lot of food to choose from and the owner (chef) is a good cook and he can serve 250 people. The food was delicious and Susan and his husband were very friendly. They only accept cash, no credit cards.

Unfortunately, the experience at checkout completely changed my impression. The cashier was not friendly and seemed impatient, which made the process uncomfortable and disappointing. The nursery does offer fair pricing and a wide selection of plants, which I appreciated. However, customer service--especially at checkout--is just as important. As a wholesaler you pay cash or check and they prefer a list of plants you're interested in so they can pull them from their different nurseries in Riverside. Our plants are doing well and at less than $4 for gallon plants, the price can't be beat! I tell you I…read morejust had an experience that I needed a particular root stock on a plum tree I wanted to plant in the backyard. I had called the nursery that is located about seven minutes from my house. It's not Parkview. I asked them if they had the particular root stock and tree in stock. Their response basically was we have that variety of tree Santa Rosa plum but we don't know what route stocks we have. I said can you look and tell me. Their answer was no if you want to see you can come down and look. After hanging up the phone and disbelief, I called Parkview nursery on Chicago Avenue and again I got the outstanding service that I'm used to there. I told the gentleman who answered the phone what I was looking for he said let him check. He came back in about a minute and told me that they had that rootstock, but asked me why I wanted that particular type of rootstock. I explained to my situation and the type of soil and he recommended a better root stock that I was not familiar with. I had even gone on the Dave Wilson Nursery the supplier of fruit trees and it didn't catch my attention. He was absolutely right the root stock that he recommended was 100 times better and they also had that in stock. Needless to say, I got in my car drove the 35 minutes. It was greeted with outstanding customer service by every employee I ran into. If you are looking for a true outstanding nursery, this is the place to come. They have caring employees who really want your landscaping/gardening adventure to be successful.

Over the years I've picked up bushes, herbs, flowers bushes, and free trees. This year i liked the sapling for a Flowering Plum Tree (no fruit despite the name). I also like the convenient location, and that there's a large lot across the street with a vast selection over and above the main area. Prices are reasonable and the staff are helpful with selection and care tips, too. Additionally, they have all the tools and plant food you can possibly want.
