This nursery is very large. When available, their staff will drive you around to view different varieties of plants. Staff is knowledgeable about what works best for those surrounding areas. These guys are alright, it is very hit and miss. It all depends if the guys there got enough sleep the night before or something. If you get them on a good day, you'll get great recommendations and fast responses. But they only seem to be interested in bulk or commercial ordering, if you are going as a private citizen not part of a company then prepared to pay for it. They have a wealth of knowledge but that freaking cantankerous attitude is annoying, sometimes they have the passive aggressiveness of a 14 yr old teenage girl both on the phone or in person - I see this all the time in industries, they know so much about plants, soils and trees and therefore annoyed about people who dont know. I get it, just dont be open to the public (90% of people are not going to be as knowledgeable) or work on customer service. 2.5 stars. read more

I've purchased rock before and they were great. However, today I walked in and the guy didn't bother to come out of office chair to talk to me. He just said, "what's up?" I told him I'd bought rock before, but had sold my truck so I needed to know much to deliver 1 scoop of rock less than 3 miles away and the employee said $125 for delivery. I asked if that was was the cost for just delivery, and his response was, "oh yeah" as if it's not a lot of money. He clearly wasn't interested in my business when I expressed how that seems excessive for a 3 mile delivery, but he didn't care. They must be getting too successful to worry about keeping small local Riverside customers. Based on principle, I will not be a future customer or recommend Paradise to anyone moving forward. read more

I ordered some dark bark and light colored rocks for two different areas at my house. They delivered on time, sadly some of the bark got mixed in with the bark. The rocks also contained about 15% pea gravel, spent 2 hours separating the materials, driver did try to help but skated out of there at the first opportunity. How about creating a divider in your truck guys? $100 delivery fee plus $15 for the driver to sweep the bark off the truck before they tip the rocks out. Not cool read more

I will no longer use or refer anyone to use Paradise Garden Center. Went in today as I wanted to get 6 citrus trees delivered and planted. Spoke to a person sitting behind the counter, was told it was $250/tree and all the citrus was next to the building. That was it. Went out and saw some crappy looking trees. Went back inside to ask if we were looking at the correct place and was told that was the correct place. There was no attempt to do anything other than say that's what they have. Paradise Garden Center is 1/4 mile from my house. I try and use local businesses when possible. The service there was good. But over the last year I have been very disappointed and after today, as I stated above, I will neither recommend nor use this nursery again. Last time I got mulch, they charged me $60 or $70 to deliver the mulch. I live 1/4 mile away. I guess they don't need, or perhaps just couldn't be bothered dealing with, walk-in business. read more

Their service was horrible to say the least. We tried to call the owner many times direct with no return calls and called his office many times to have them do a design for our backyard. We went and visited today to pick out the plants ourselves and do the design. The owner was so rude to us and called us liars to our face. He did not want our business nor did his employees. If I could give them a minus star rating I would, I have never dealt with a business whose employees are so rude and have absolutely no customer service skills, including the owner Christian. Unless you are there to buy don't bother them because they will tell you you are wasting their time. I found the materials I needed at another nursery and call them immediately to cancel my transaction, Will, the salesman proceeded to tell me "you mean I wasted 30 minutes of my time helping you" and hung up on me....twice. I left a message for the owner regarding my interaction and he didn't seem to care that his employee was that rude. I went back to make sure the transaction was cancelled. I will never recommend this place to anyone, if anything I will make sure everyone I know hears how I was treated. I called Paradise nursery to check the stock and price of their honey suckle. He said his were no good and even if he had them he would have to pull them out and he said "he would pass". I pulled up and there was no parking. They were fast to tell us that. My husband got out and moved some things for us to park. Then we walked around. I asked three people for help no one cared. They were sitting talking and were "busy." We then walked inside to ask. The man ignored us then finally replied when we asked prices. He said everything was $75 and half gallons where $40 something. I said that's odd because some plants should be more than others. I again asked for help and he said "look around and get what you want because we have our clients." I was looking to redesign my backyard. I was recommended to contact Greg Martin at Paradise Garden Center. He is a landscape architect and had several ideas after my first consultation. We picked one of the designs that he created to fit our budget. They have a huge nursery with tons of plants and all types of soils and fertilizers. They finished my backyard within a reasonable time frame. It took them five weeks and my backyard was literally dirt when we started. They poured the concrete, install sprinklers, fire pit , grass and also put in the patio cover as well as all the trees, shrubs and flowers. There is also a design element that Greg added to it that all the other contractors were lacking. They were not the cheapest bid we got, however they worked quickly and you can tell that there work is high quality. I have neighbors that are still working on their backyard, several months later, because they had to fire and rehire so many different contractors. Greg would come personally most mornings to check on the progress and ensure that everything was designed exactly how we discussed. I absolutely love my yard. It looks stunning and I couldn't be happier with it. Everyone there is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. When we have the budget to get the front yard done, we will happily go back to Paradise Garden Center. read more

I've pretty much furnished most of my parents yard foliage at this place. I know where most of the plants, trees, shrubs and succulents are located now. At first it was really intimidating because I knew just basics about green stuff. Let it get some sun and water--but not too much. Sprinkle some minerals on it once in a while and spray it down to get rid of the cooties. As I've been here more and more often the guys will help me troubleshoot things going on at my parents house as well as help my thumb turn green. It still isn't green. It's a long way from being green but it's greener than it was. At least I have made progress in how to care for plants but now I know where to go for help and since I've bought so much stuff here I don't feel guilty about coming to them for help. They have a huge area to shop and often they will take you in their golf cart to the spot where your desired tree or shrub happens to be. I've had many rides around in the golf cart. It's good fun. Their prices are good. I've compared their prices to Home Depot and some of the local plant nurseries and their prices are lower most of the time. Even some times depending on how much you're planning to buy they'll give you a deal. I'm all about a deal. Right now they're open Monday through Saturday. I remember they used to be open on Sundays too but they may have stopped that. They're open 7 am to 4 pm. read more

Let me be clear- we walked in ready to use Paradise for landscaping for our entire front yard, and because of how RUDE we were treated when we asked a simple question about designing and financing, we left and dropped $15,000 with Moon Valley Nurseries. Your customer service skills were so disgusting, you couldn't even look up from your magazine while we asked you for support. My advice, go somewhere else. If I could give less the one star I would! Just as we were about to finalize the purchase, the owners son came and got involved. Complete A Hole. Rude, callous, disrespectful and cavalier. He talked to me as if I wasn't about to spend a few thousand dollars there and acted like he was doing me a favor. This man obviously has no customer service skills and I doubt he even cares. The place was clean, well organized and the staffs was extremely helpful. I gave them 4stars because some plants had missing price tag and it was hard to walk on gravel with flip flop. They carried the plants to my car and covered my car seat with a plastic bag. Price for the plants were competitive. I will return here for another plant. read more

I want to share what happened with my experience with Paradise Garden Center. I was referred to my Son who works for a landscaping company and I had 8 planter boxes built for a small garden. The employee calculated the measurements and told me to order 17 yards of soil. After it was delivered to my home and we filled the boxes, I had a huge amount of soil left on my driveway. (I estimated at least 3 or 4 yards) I went in to ask if they could refund me and pick up the additional soil from my home. The person at the desk told me that I ONLY ordered $1200.00 worth of materials and it wasn't worth his time to come get it. He told me to send him a photo and he would see what they could do. The owner called me back today and said put it in my yard somewhere or call a neighbor that could use it. What!!!!! My whole yard is professionally landscaped with rocks and I have no place to put this extra dirt. I don't have a truck or any way to move it from my house. Which means that not only did I over pay for the dirt for my boxes, I now have to pay to remove dirt from their error. I will never order anything from this place again. Something that should have probably cost me $500 for dirt will now cost me $2000. I am shocked that they don't stand behind their business. read more

This was my experience with Paradise and Christian, the owners son. I bought and paid for 30 cubic yards of 3/8" California Gold, (very happy with the product.) I had a specific uniform area to cover and the square footage. Paradise delivered the rock and I proceeded to spread it at slightly less than the thickness that I had calculated. The amount I ordered should have left me about 4-5 cy left over. Long story short, it only covered about 2/3's of the area. I went back in, had them do the measurements; they agreed that my measurements were correct and said Christian will get back to me. When he didn't call, I contacted Christian and was met with a barrage of defensiveness before I even said hello. (I thought to myself, guilty!) I offered to have him come up to see for himself and he said "I run a business and my time is too valuable for that". I own and run my own construction business for 32 years- not sure how valuable my time is? I work everyday with trucking, cubic yardage and the like. Christian, if you read this, you're not happy: find another business. He's got some good dudes working there and I feel bad for them. I got $2,000.00 worth of rock for $3000.00, so I don't think they can be trusted. In the words of my corporate attorney, 'guide yourselves accordingly'. I have made several purchases from this nursery over the past year and a half. A couple of the guys are really nice, but Greg is very rude, condescending, not helpful and actually told me misinformation about a tree I was searching for. Every time I encounter Greg I was treated as if my hundred dollar purchases were an absolute bother, keeping him from more important things to do. My husband and I purchased an historic house and a half acre in a very friendly neighborhood. People stop by all the time to see the progress and transformation of this once neglected gem.
