"Review #500" :-D…read more October 31, 2024 On Friday October 4th I attended a Beautiful Fall wedding at The Pine Knob Mansion for My Dear and Close friends Phil & Jessica. The main road entrance starts with a welcome sign to Pine Knob Golf Course. The winding road will lead you pass the greens with golfers, then several expensive residential homes. There are two venue banquet buildings called The Carriage and this one called The Pine Knob Mansion. Both have valet parking service at their entrance doors. My photos attached will show how wonderful this place was from start to finish. The ceremony was outside in the Garden Gazebo area overlooking the ski lifts and property of Pine Knob with fold up chairs on the grass area. This venue can accommodate all seasons of the year for many memorable and personal events. The outdoor brick patio was large enough for both cocktail hour after ceremony and again in the evening with a DJ for music and dancing. The Bride and Groom performed their special dances together on it plus with their parents. The wedding and party time continued till midnight! The efficient servers were very attentive when eating the plated sit-down dinner. They also served refill of waters quickly too. The Formal banquet room was very elegant with Chiavari Chairs, along with great lighting. Check out my attached photos of Jess and Phil's special and lovely wedding which expresses it all! The Food was Fantastic and Oh My Deeeelicious along with Great plate presentation! This location can be found on The Knot and has different price packages based on your event for food and desserts. My Friends Phi and Jess opted to bring in their own seasonal desserts with cider and donuts along with mini parfait desserts for that special Fall Style Theme. Driving north on Van Dyke after 26 mile, I spotted a bunch of patio furniture outside this old…read morebrick building. Turns out, it's an antique store - The Bank of Antiques to be exact! I only had a few minutes, but I stopped to look anyway. What a delight, they had so many cool antiques. The things that interested me, may not be the same as someone else but they had a huge variety. I personally like the beveled glass windows and doors. I am a huge Frank Loyd Wright fan, they had this beautiful pair of 8 foot doors I was drooling over. They had collectible Steiff animals, not just bears. Also, they had a ton of stuff under old lumber yard bins outside where they housed some of the less expensive things. If you want pristine condition antiques, shop inside...if you want fixer up-ers, shop outside. They had something for every budget and the woman was extremely knowledgeable. I will go back and really explore the whole place this weekend, maybe I'll update this post if I am able to negotiate on a beveled window I have my eye on. There's Flea Market Rescue in downtown Dryden, She-Shed in Metamora. Chic antiques in Almont. I believe it was while at Flea Market Rescue I found out about here. So happy that I was able to go there the day I was out with my daughter! There was some event thing going on so these plus a few others were all having something the same day. Two Hens is located down a dirt road-fyi. But it's not that far down and the road has been fine every time I've been there. They do well with parking and signage and if you can't park in front there is ample parking in back. Everything is located in the big barn-you CANT miss it! The first time going here, I was in love with the stuff they had plus they have lights hanging up which is a nice touch. They do a cute setup with coffee, small bottled water. Sometimes snacks! Debbie, Diana, and Myriah are the 3 ladies who own this business. They really make shopping here a treat! They are so awesome and always ready to welcome you and have a conversation. I can't say enough about the 2 that I have met! (Debbie and Myriah) So on to what they sell. This is a Vintage shopping experience. You will find furniture, home decorations, all kinds of interesting stuff that is very reasonably priced. They are not open every weekend, just to inform you. You can follow them on Facebook and they announce from there what weekends they will be open. They are CLOSED RIGHT NOW FOR THE WINTER, but will be back open in MAY 2025. I just went to their last event of the year, it was CHRISTMAS IN THE BARN. Now that I've been here this year only missing one event they had, I knew to go the first night which was Ladies Night. I took my sister along knowing she would love it there and not to my surprise.....she bought ALOT! Furniture, sparkly Christmas trees, Santa's. Add my stuff to hers and her big SUV was filled to the brim! It was a very festive event with a special drink, delicious snacks, water. Enjoyable atmosphere and meeting great people. I think not only were we first in line but after loading up went back in and bought more! (Making us probably close to the last ones there!) I can't say enough about Two Hens & a Chick. It's just a great place with great people and great finds!!

A really well-curated, well-merchandised and beautiful store, but I have to roll my eyes at most of…read morethe prices (especially for such a rural area, and for such slow turnover). The garage area has a lot of salvage items if you're into those. Lots of mirrors, picture frames and framed art, architectural salvage (doorknobs, handles, etc.), and revamped furniture. It seems like they procure a lot of items for cheap, then reupholster or repaint for profit; these types of stores are not my favorite because the antiques are both altered and more expensive. So, no deals to be had, but it IS possible to find a treasure here worthy of the higher price tag.
