During my first climb there was easily readable 19th Century graffiti in pencil - now mostly worn off from many hands steadying themselves on the walls and over written by 'new' graffiti. The view from the top is breathtaking from all 360° The grounds are nice, with a mini-museum featuring historical & nature displays, the birdwatch areas & the bunker over the dunes on the beach. There are some special events here, including a Boatyard Bash and an annual skipjack race on the Choptank. The museum itself tells about the master boatbuilder Jim Richardson who built the skipjack Nathan and worked on countless boats in his lifetime. Models of skipjacks are displayed and boatbuilder tools, as well as a history of racing boats in Cambridge, Maryland. They also have a library and book store.

Yes, I've been to Amsterdam and this looks just like them. That's because the Zwaanendael Museum was designed to honor the city hall in Hoorn, Netherlands. The museum exhibits the history and settlement of the southern coast of Delaware. I thought the train lines were very interesting as well as the Delftware on display. Perhaps you missed that Lewes was bombarded by the British during the War of 1812 (there's a house with a cannonball not far away). The museum is free but definitely accepts donations. I got to find the 11 tiny little mermaids with a 7 year old I met and our entire group all dressed up. This is definitely a life highlight and I'm so happy this place exists. I love all the creative touches and facts. I've been to few mermaid museums and this is definitely one of my favorites!

RIO GRANDE: The Forgotten Warriors Vietnam Museum is a special place full of artifacts, books,…read morephotos, letters, and an educational experience about the Vietnam War and its soldiers. We heard stories from Vietnam Veteran Peter, who was volunteering his time to give a tour and share his personal stories of the war. Thank you to Vietnam Vet, Tom Collins, for starting this museum and providing a place to learn, reflect, and pay respects. There is a chapel and memorial outside along with some military vehicles. Leashed dogs are allowed inside; due to the sensitive nature of the historical items, please use caution while walking through.

We stumbled across this museum when we were going to visit the NAS Wildwood museum but it was too…read morecrowded. It is directly across the street and is not associated with the big museum. We saw the outdoor displays & got out to check them out. My kids were very intrigued by the POW depictions outside. The museum was open and we needed something to do on a rainy day, so we stopped inside. This museum operates by donations only, so you can view it for free, but definitely try and give a donation! This whole place is clearly a labor of love from the disabled Vietnam veteran and his wife who run it, and he was there when we visited and offered to answer any questions we might have. We spent a decent amount of time there and enjoyed looking at all of the exhibits, the children especially enjoyed seeing the booby traps & food rations. Definitely a hidden gem that you should check out while you are in the area. God bless our veterans!
