I had my living trust prepared by Sydney Mendlovitz in 2014. 10 years later, I now discovered from the county assessor's office, that only half of the value of my house is in the trust and the other half is not in the trust. I am horrified that this has happened. For approximately 10 years, I thought my house was protected from probate, being in a trust. If something had happened to me, or if I did not find this out, half of my house value would have gone into probate for my two children! A few years ago, I called to review my trust and found that Sydney Mendlovitz had become deceased. I spoke with Foster JD, who now has the practice, hoping to continue to work with the same firm for continuity. I experienced Mr. Foster to be generally unfriendly and awkward to communicate with. I even tried a while later thinking that I just caught him on a bad day, but experienced the same thing. I let it go for a few years until now. I never thought this would happen to me as I trusted Mr. Mendlovitz to be a good attorney, even though he wasn't particularly friendly either. I used him because my ex-husband had used him for years. I would give one star if I could. I sent a message via AVVO and he blatantly told me that any message he gets from here, he considers garbage and throws them out. He did not believe I was a real client. He literally asked if I was just a marketer?! When I explained needing assistance with a template or creating a template for wholesales or flips - he kept saying if I was real client? WTH?? I am asking a legitimate question. I apologized because I was not sure if I was asking the right questions, but he again said, are you a marketer? really? this is how you treat clients? I told him I was a realtor and I was new and starting this portion of my business - he again, did not care. I told him I was sorry he was so jaded and clearly this relationship would not work out - he hung up on me. Wow, wow, wow. I cant say enough good things about Mr Sid Mendlovitz and Michael Foster. I have always been a bit reluctant to choose a good firm for consultation as well as representation but thankfully I found this firm. From the first time I met Mr Foster over 3 years ago to every time I call you can find people who care. I am a real estate agent and business owner that had tons of questions and thankfully get them answered every time we meet. They charge a very fair price for the expert help they give. I needed help with negotiating a settlement for a lease dispute. I initially went with a lawyer that my real estate agent suggested who gladly took my money, wrote a letter asking for mediation, and then dissipated. The other party never responded to the mediation letter. When I asked my original lawyer where did we go from here... nothing. I reached out to Michael whom I previously spoke to some months ago and he agreed to help! He clearly laid out expectations as well as next steps to resolve my issue!! I don't know recall how many law offices that I contacted on yelp where I was told that I needed a real estate attorney, then the real estate attorney would refer to to get a general attorney and so on.. But the other side was being extremely difficult and refusing to resolve or settle the dispute. So I ended up contacting Michael. Michael really took the time to listen and understand my issue. He explained all of my options and ultimately was able to get the matter resolved entirely to my satisfaction. I was basically either getting turned down due to other law firms being busy or they were trying to charge me two arms and two legs just for a simple consultation. Awful. Michael is a terrible excuse for an attorney. He did say he could get us what we were promised by the family however, he was going to lie to get it. He brought up multiple times that he used to be a police officer and could get anyone to do what he wanted with a "little help". This is not an honest lawyer. We heard him over the phone with another attorney or client and all he did was bitch and complain that he was right and they were wrong. I'm not sure he even knows the law or how to honestly represent a client and act like an adult. Now we are afraid of retaliation from him (or his police friends) because of comments made. I am an attorney and needed advice outside of my specialty and someone I felt had the same heart I had. Well, I found him. He read everything, spoke to me with understanding and guidance that would work within my means. I know Yelp can be a source of taking out anger on a company so I want you to know I am a legitimate client, I am a client, who is an attorney, and know quality from BS and this firm is excellent. Advice: Look somewhere else. Looking to hire an attorney for an HOA /real estate matter , In doing my due diligence in the search . I quickly picked up on that I was bothering Mr.Foster and that I had taken up 8 minutes of his time and that his firm bills by the hour . I am very articulate in what Im looking for and I hope they don't think I would ever give anyone a sizeable retainer without having a meaningful conversation first.
