They are very in tune with what's going on with the kids due to excellent communication with both staff and admin. Their biggest priorities are the children and having qualified employees who pay close attention to the children's well being. They also communicate with the families. When a concern is noted, they hold their responsibilities as mandated reporters demonstrating their complete interest and concern for each child.

There are also after kindergarten programs if you'd like your kindergartener to have a full day of school. Prices are very reasonable considering the level and quality of the programs here. The teachers are great, and the teacher to student ratio is excellent (3 kids to 1 teacher in the 3 year old program). The entire facility is very aware of childhood allergies, and if your child has a sensitivity of any kind, it is addressed. This is great to keep in mind. Fortunately, my kids aren't allergic to anything, but I understand what a challenge this for other families.

The environment is diverse, respectful and responsive. Sharon Healy is an outstanding Head of School and understands child development extremely well. Almost all teachers are trained in Orton-Gillingham (upon which the Montessori reading curriculum is based). This gives added protection to help identify learning/reading issues and to address them at an early age, or at any age as the case may be for transfer students. Now that my two daughters are in college, they realize what a special place FVAM was and plan on sending their own kids!

We started getting calls from the director to come pick up early, or , will not be able to attend. Arrived for normal pick up days sometimes to observe college age interns as the only supervision on site, sitting at picnic tables, sunning, while the children were at least 50 yards away arguing over some toy. These staff were not actually actively engaged and only engaged when they felt discipline was necessary. I think I observed one episode of guided creative play while my child attended (about 6~ weeks). Any other parents have similar experiences here?

My son did well at the preschool program for almost a year and a half. He has some…read moremedical/behavioral issues which they were beyond helpful about working with him to address. As with most preschool/daycare programs, there is a mix of kids of varying ability levels and backgrounds. There is also a mix of younger and older staff. They are all adults with the younger ones typically in college for education/child development. I found the management was very open to feedback and questions about my child or the program/staff. All daycares/preschools have their staff/program quirks, but I always felt good about leaving my son in their care. I found them to be the most responsive child care providers out of all the ones I've tried over the years for either of my kids. I also found that they were the most honest and conscientious of any place I've been about keeping staffing ratios and safety measures in compliance. I found them very responsive, even proactive, and willing to work with me on anything. The summer camp experience is a little different from the school year program, but they are always making changes to improve the program. They genuinely care about the kids. You can tell some places are all about the money and don't care about the quality or improving programming. Because of the setting of the school, the kids are able to have some really great experiences that they won't get in almost any other daycare/school setting. Both of my kids rave about Channel 3 kids camp. My son has many fond memories of his preschool time.

The teachers are compassionate, patient, kind, accomodating, and overall extraordinary. We feel safe and confident leaving our 4 year old and twin 1 year old girls in their care. Their curriculum is beyond compare--they take extra steps in providing fun yet educational care for our children. The extra offerings like cooking class, phonics, and soccer training (not to mention their awesome summer program) are just added bonuses. The director, Heather, goes out of her way to touch base with us about our children's progression and provide us support. She and other staff have been a great support/reference for us as parents, providing us information and feedback on parenting tricks and child behaviour (and letting us know that we weren't crazy when we had home issues). They truly know and understand children. We feel that our son is already ahead of other children his age that go to other providers and will be well prepared for kindergarten. We really can't say enough good things about this center. I should also mention that we drive almost an extra 30 minutes, passing many daycares (including another Kindercare) just to come to this excellent learning center.
