One of my favorite stops when I'm in Ojai is The Lennon Closet, a sweet little consignment shop tucked inside The Arcade Plaza, right between Matilija St and E. Ojai Ave. It's the kind of place that instantly feels welcoming--you're always greeted with a smile, and even if you don't find something that day, the browsing itself feels like a small joy. That said, I always seem to find something! I still wear a cozy sweater I picked up there last year, and on my last visit, I found a pair of earrings that I absolutely love. The prices are reasonable and the items are in great condition. Since they're a consignment shop, they do accept items for resale--you get a percentage back when your item sells. If you're thinking about bringing something in, it's best to call ahead to check their process and which days they're accepting items. One more reason to love The Lennon Closet? A percentage of their sales goes toward Traumatic Brain Injury charities, making every treasure you find there even more meaningful. Very cute shop on the outside. Great location in the heart of Ojai's main shopping district. All good, except that the clothes are not clean. Several of the items I picked out had obviously not been laundered. I visit consignment shops often but that's a deal breaker for me. read more

Went to put some stuff on consignment by driving up from Ventura and there was a sign on the window that they weren't taking any more items. The lady apologized but wasn't concerned about making any attempts or concerns to help me. Maybe held my stuff and sent me an invoice through email? Nope, nadda. I told her it was bad business and she said they've been in business for 10 years and cater to the locals hence made me feel like an outcast. Booooo! I'm responding to the review 9-24-19 That day I spent a pleasant half and hour at The Lennon Closet. They always have a friendly staff and great prices. I've consigned there before and their policy is straight out and to the point. This particular day I happened to be in the fitting room trying on some great pieces. I'm not one to eavesdrop but I couldn't help but hear this women berate the owner of the shop over the fact that they couldn't take her consignment. The employee was kind and thorough, and explained that they were full on consigning that day. The woman continued to insult the employees and remind them that their decision was bad for business. She carried on and on like a spoiled child. I commend the employees of the Lennon closet for handling the situation with such grace. Shame on this grown woman for being such a nasty soul. read more

I found some really awesome and unique items in this store, but what really won me over was their customer service. I accidentally left behind some items after purchasing them, and being that I live in Los Angeles, didn't think I was going to be there anytime soon. The owner was nice enough to not only mail it to me, but also offered a gift certificate for the inconvenience. Nicest people!! They have very unique antiques and items that I don't typically find in Los Angeles thrift shops, and their prices are really great too! read more

I would give this a 4.5 if I could. I found a very cute dress and a purse I've been trying to find for months, all for very cheap! It was a cute shop with some nice music playing. It was air conditioned (thank god because it was bloody hot outside) and they let me bring in my dog! I love that they encourage the re-use of clothing! read more

I was greeted by a beautiful dark and green haired creature.The store itself was full of amazing vintage goods with decent prices. She helped me find a silk Hawaiian button up that I so desperately needed. Such nice customer service with a seductive presence. Petite and looked like she needed a nap. I insisted that my girlfriend look at the $5 bargain rack outside. She found some kick a** linen pants for those hot summer days, and we went inside to get more. We found her a light brushed leather jacket for only $45, a unique green jacket for $19. I was surprised to find a pair of men's mountain hardware winter wander pants for $28!!!!!!!! I will definitely be back for more name brand clothing. read more

I personally have not had good luck there. I've used other consignment stores and had nicer & more professional experiences. They keep your things for just 30 days, really not long enough, & when you pick them up, they make you try to find your own unsold items on their racks, what? I found this strange since they could be anywhere in the store, and you'd have to remember each & every item you brought in. In the end, they made mistakes on my refund and found clothes of mine later on they had sold, so I had to go back again to claim the added money. I wouldn't use them again no matter what. read more

This is a cute shop with great finds! I went in there to browse and ended up with a bag full of clothes. How can you go wrong with name brands at $5-$15. Best of all some of the profits go to a local charity. Cute place, I will definitely go back the next time I visit Ojai. read more

Every single time i had visited the Lennon Closet i have been warmly greeted and given ample time to peruse the shop. The shop is tucked away behind the Ojai shopping Arcade and always has a fun variety to choose from. I have shopped there for birthdays, Christmas and for myself. I have also brought in items on consignment and always put the monies i earn right back into the shop! The clothing is cleaned and displayed nicely. I like that the racks aren't packed with items. The shopkeepers are eager to assist and offer ideas on styles if asked. I have purchased shoes, coats, blouses, pants and even home decor all of which i still love and use. The variety is carefully selected for quality so i am never disappointed. Lennon Closet is a great representation of Ojais charm and i will continue to be a loyal customer for years to come! read more

Love this place! This is my must-go-to place whenever I visit Ojai. They have great buys, the clothes and accessories are always in great shape and the employees are friendly and helpful.
