It's a shame that a film nominated for an academy award for it's Cinematography can be so easily butchered by a cinema chain who seemingly doesn't care about representing the artists work true to it's intentions. On top of the subpar projection, lights were left way too bright during the entire movie so it made it hard to concentrate on the film.

Ugh...that's the feeling I get whenever I venture near this place…read more... Service is soooo sloooooow especially as now you often have to buy your tickets from the food counters, so you have to wait ages while people decide what size bucket of coke they want... Once you're in the screens themselves things aren't too bad - sound and vision are generally of a good standard. The air-con is however overenthusiastic so if you're of a chilly disposition remember to take some warm clothes! The sign at the entrance of the ladies warns that "male and female cleaners service these facilities" but I have to conclude that neither had been near them for quite some time...at least four loos were out of order and most of the ones that weren't needed a darn good clean (I guess you have to point a large finger of blame at the manky people who don't know a) how to flush a toilet or b) that any more than about 20 sheets of loo paper is likely to lead to a serious blockage.... Added to the fact it's now damn expensive (£10.45 per adult to see the 3D Christmas Carol film) to go to the cinema I was reminded why I don't often bother these days. Far nicer to stay warm, have clean loos and cheap eats at home with a DVD!

I don't think I can return to your average, run-of-the-mill cinema after Everyman. This is cinema…read morefor grown-ups! You can watch a film without a child kicking the back of your chair or throwing popcorn about the place and you can get drinks and bar snacks served right to your seat. Brilliant! A great place to come with a date as the double-seats mean you can snuggle up to that special someone. Next time I want the even more luxurious seats at the back which looked more comfy than the average ones and I believe may even have had foot rests. A full bar and decent selection of sweet and savoury snacks. I love a glass of wine with my film so this place gets a huge thumbs up from me on that alone. It is expensive, but no more expensive than seeing a film at a cinema in Leicester Square and billion times better! They need more of these cinemas over London!

The only problem I have with this plush theatre is that once you go "Belsize Everyman" you really…read morefind film watching anywhere else impossible. Cheap - it ain't £12-14 (dependant on reclining or not) and let's be frank, a bowl of chilli stuffed olives and rosemary mixed nuts or one sweet craving of white chocolate covered bananas with cocktails can set you back enough to skip dinner entirely, but I have seen some thoroughly exhausting movies here ( Brad Bitt becomes infant - cough cough), and leather reclining seats with mojitos made that experience something almost enjoyable. If I had one critique, it would be fairly obvious one as a former resident - more selection/invention/events please. Any possibility of an 'event' generally requires Baker or Hampstead here - but for an experience beyond movie watching that feels akin to first class lounging try it.

And it has a beautifully-decorated auditoreum, of the kind Britain used to have, before Warner Villages, and entertainment parks and Thatcher came to town. And I really rate their selection and choices of films - the artier, more complex interesting side of Hollywood and lots of indy European films. Which tend to be much more inspired than our indy, left-of-centre film industry. So, you'll be watching films amongst other very cool people, who dig these things just like you. But I like that feeling, like, "yeah the Gate Cinema is good, just like this film. Is good - c'est bon uh?" Comme 'le gate'.

I think this is the best cinema in London, hands down. The seats are ultra comfortable and there is a coffee table style ledge next to most seats where you can put your bottle of wine or beer - so much more civilised than a plastic cup holder. That's right you can buy alcohol at the bar when you buy your tickets so there's no messing around and getting there 4 hours before. The whole feel is quite upmarket and a little bit of a throw back to when cinemas were really special.

Screen 8 where we watched the movie was a large theater room, which is what you want for such an action movie I think. Boyfriend pointed out it wasn't edge to edge (so there might be even better options out there), but I didn't even notice that before he mentioned it and thought the huge screen and great sound system did the job. Sound was loud enough without being deafening, so just right imo. The seats we got were in the very center in front of the walkway (so no rows of seats in front of us, yet we're not too close), which I would absolutely recommend!

I looooove going to the cinema. It's one of those easy, reliable ways of treating yourself…read more But let's be discerning about it. We're lucky in London because we have so many options. Given that, I can't see why Vue is worth going to. I didn't realise before coming here, but a standard ticket on a Sunday afternoon was £12.99 in what must have been one of their smaller screens. Come on. Bear in mind we're not in zone 1, Leicester Square premiere central. I can think of several cinemas that would do far cheaper tickets (obviously especially if you go on their deal days), but also, if you do want to spend over a tenner on a ticket, then for goodness' sake go to an Everyman or something. I think that's about £1.50 more expensive and you get a sofa and a waiter, plus there are a couple pretty close to this Vue. (Nevermind paying £8.99 for a popcorn and drink.) The screen we were in was also really odd - it was a large screen but only four rows of seats, and they were very close to the screen itself. It was quite hard to actually see the whole screen because we were so pushed up against it. It didn't make for an enjoyable viewing experience. That was also only once we got into it - the movie started late because the lights were off, the place wasn't set up, and nobody knew why. Pretty weird and overpriced place.
