A few weeks ago, my daughter called me and said that we should go on a "Staycation". I did not know…read morewhat this meant. She explained that many people were doing this to save money in transportation when going to other places. It meant we stay in Kingston, where we live, and enjoy re-discovering our town, taking tours, we had not done before, disconnecting for a few days of our jobs, and most important, spending time just us: mother and daughter.
What a wonderful surprise it was for me to arrived at Frontenac Club to spent 3 days together. This boutique hotel is one of a kind located in the heart of downtown Kingston. We parked the car in the parking lot of the hotel during all our stay, as we were able to walk to the sites we wanted to visit. Also, within walking distance are the best restaurants in town.
We were given two marvelous suites, one with a full living room, king bed, and an astonishing bathroom with a bathtub. The other one was also very impressive with all the amenities needed. Both suites were impeccable clean!
Every morning, we went down to their restaurant called "The Bank" where we had a well served and complete breakfast (included), and the last day we dine there (tapas), accompanied by life music and the tastiest margaritas I have ever had.
Frontenac Club personnel make a special point to get to know their guests. With 20 suites, all with different themes and sizes, they catered families, singles and couples. They have a sweet bar and small arcade for children, a lounge to read and play games, a patio to relax, enjoy the weather while having meals served also there.
It is important to note that Frontenac Club is a heritage historic house build in 1871, and although it has been completely and beautifully renovated, it has kept its special character. It was home to one of the first Canadian Bank of Montreal, and therefore there is a vault, so large that it has been conditioned to host business meetings or private celebrations.
I highly recommend staying at Frontenac Club. If you are celebrating an anniversary, or a family gathering (my brother and his family stayed here when they visited us from overseas), or if you are celebrating another special occasion, or coming to Kingston as a tourist, or as a staycation guest, you will not be disappointed!
