This was my second time at the salon and I had an amazing experience. Emma did an amazing job with my hair. I asked for very little off the end and she did exactly that. We discussed before how to go about taking the dead ends off while still keeping the length, which I appreciated. She even made me feel comfortable adding some shape to the front pieces of my hair. I was so angry ten minutes after leaving the salon. I had a wash and blow dry by Janette. I was attending a beach wedding-OUTSIDE IN THE FLORIDA CLIMATE. I showed Janette a photo of what style I wanted for my hair. I have fine hair, not thick, shoulder length with bangs. Not a complicated style. Janette DID NOT know how to blow dry my hair straight. She didn't put any products in my hair to stop my hair from becoming a frizzy mess. I was embarrassed at how my hair looked for the wedding. There was so much hair spray that I could barely get a brush thru my hair to attempt to make it look presentable. read more

I'm so sorry to say that this is the worst haircut I've received since my brother's cut when I was 5. Hate to do this review, but don't want people assuming this little outdated salon is all that it claims to be. The staff wasn't friendly, practically rude, except for the receptionist. Maybe they were hangry. My friends asked me what happened. I have uneven layers inside out so there's always a layer in my shirt collar, yet my hair is below my shoulders. A client of mine, who's a stylist, said it looks chopped. Wearing a hat and attempting to wear it up until it grows out (have a nice little, uneven curtain itching my collar if it's up)... awful experience. read more

I actually stopped in just to set up an appointment later in the week, but noticed the sign outside saying they were doing 10% off today only, so I decided to just get my hair cut right then and there. Thomas Le was the one there, and as a "Junior" stylist (he's certainly not new to hair cutting, just new to the area) his rates were the cheapest there already. Overall, for a cut and a style, it was 50 dollars (with the 10% discount, 45) as compared to the Master stylist rate of 73. He cut off probably close to a foot of hair at my request, and made great conversation while doing it. I'm not particularly picky about my hair, so admittedly I'm not all that hard to please, but I'll definitely be back next time I need a cut. I want to start by saying when I left the salon yesterday i was at that moment happy with my hair. As ive had a chance to look at it. I'll say this it's not the best nor the worst color I've had. The salon is very friendly and my stylist was very nice. I am new in town and needed my hair colored as I've been traveling and couldn't get home to do it. Renee is fantastic. After reading other reviews I decided to choose this salon to fix my hair color and get a better cut (had a mom bob with brassy lowlights that needed fixed). Renee took alot of time with my hair and the color turned out to be a beautiful vibrant blonde and she was able to turn my frumpy mom bob to a more stylish bob which gave more volume to my hair. Yelp is a great tool and I was able to book 3 appointments today with Pamela - one for myself, one for my daughter and one for my 8 year old grand child. Meghan the receptionist was extremely pleasant and very accommodating getting us all in on the same day. We had Pamela as our stylist. She listened to what we wanted and then made recommendations on color and cut based upon our hair. From the moment she began our visit I knew that this was not going to be the normal color and cut. First of all, I was apprehensive and had some anxiety going to a salon here in Sarasota as we just moved here and I was used to my lady back in nyc and was anxious that the new lady here wouldn't be able to do what I wanted for my hair... BOY WAS I WRONG. Janette took care of me, was able to do what I originally wanted and more. Friendly and professional, did not thin my already thin hair out, she suggested a few things to make my hair fuller and it worked. I scheduled my next trim immediately. They're strict with the infection control which I love (nurse here), they clean every tool after each client, and clients have to come in with a mask on and prior to that, wait in your car until they are ready for you. I made an appointment for a Men's Cut over the phone and was told it would be $35. There was an opening for 12:15pm tomorrow with a stylist who charges $45 for Men's Cuts and I said that was totally fine. She asked my name, and I responded "Rachel" and she sounded confused and said "...for a Men's Cut?" and I said "Yes, I have a pixie." She said "Oh okay, is noon okay instead?" and I said sure and that was that. But when I got the text confirmation a few minutes later, the receptionist had actually booked me for a Women's Cut (pixie). I called back to ask about this, knowing that Women's Cuts are typically priced higher, to which I was told that since I have a pixie it is still a Women's Cut which is $75. Why wasn't I told this over the phone?? And when I asked why I would be charged more solely based on my gender, the receptionist said "It's not based on gender, that's just how it is" which makes no sense. I understand that many salons price based on gender... to each their own. But I take huge issue with the dishonesty while booking. The receptionist could have clarified this over the phone and said, "Sorry, we will still charge you for a Women's Cut even though you have a pixie cut." But instead, she booked me differently and did not tell me. If I hadn't called back, I would have walked in expecting to be charged for what I had asked for and was told over the phone, but actually would have been charged more for something else. The secretly booking me for something else makes me never want to go to this salon, on top of poor explanation for why they price their clients based on gender alone even though I have even shorter hair than some men. Honesty goes a long way. read more

I am visiting Sarasota for the month of February and needed to have my usual one process color done. I went to a salon that was referred to me by my friend last week and my color came out to dark, was not happy. I looked up reviews of salons in Sarasota and looked for good reviews for colorists and came across Marissa Key at the Little Salon on Main Street. She was a great find. I am not one to write reviews unless someone is worthy of my time. I am also very selective (truly picky) about my hair. I feel grateful to have found a colorist that really knows her stuff. She was definitely knowledgeable about different color companies and how to take that into account when using my original formula from where I live. Marissa gave me highlights today that were just right. She listened to what I wanted and it came out perfect. I wish she could move to where I normally live. The salon seems to get great reviews so I was hopeful....but I suppose it depends on which hairstylist you get....absolutely the WORST haircut and style I've ever had in 66 years! So bad that I had to go directly to a wig store to cover it up.....never ever thought of doing that before. Has absolutely ruined my time here in Florida as I have to wear this rather uncomfortable wig anytime I go out....swimming, boating, etc., have been out of the question.....I can't recommend this place but if you go, ask for the owner or one of her long-term/time stylists.... read more
