Update: The studio called me the next week and let me know that the owner noticed that I was over charged, when he was going through the books. They refunded me $40, which was closer to their listed prices. Love the balayage, cut and style that Tiffany did today. Have to say that I was very shocked over how much the price was inflated over their listed prices. My hair was already at my shoulders and she only cut a few inches off. She did a fantastic job but not $300 worth. I would rather drive back to the salons in Westchase Village and get just as good at half the price. Had a great experience! First time client. My wavy untamed curly bushy hair was washed, massaged, cut, shaped and styled by Brandon. He is friendly and actually took the time to talk with me, what I like and dislike about my hair. He asked poignant questions as he figured out the best cut and look for me, my lifestyle and my curls. Excellent experience. Would recommend for any wavy and curly ladies who enjoy their curls but need help taming them. Nice intimate salon that is spotlessly clean and inviting. Very friendly and welcoming staff that offered a relaxed professional experience. It feels like I was visiting a friend who was waiting to make me feel great! Parking is plentiful and best to go all the way around building to park in back. There is a huge entrance from the back lot. My 12 year daughter and I travelled to Sarasota for a much needed break from the snow and cold in Boston last week. Since the snow has impacted our ability to get to a hair salon, our hair was in desperate need of pampering. We reviewed all of the Yelp reviews of Sarasota hair salons and took a chance on D. Cole. We are so glad we did! D. Cole is a beautiful, high end, boutique salon in a funky residential area of Sarasota. Everyone in the salon was friendly, professional and really attentive to us. My appointment was with Colette and my daughter was with Brandon. Colette spent a lot of time talking with me about my cut and color. She brought my battered, sad, dark hair to life with fantastic highlights and a phenomenal cut which has been very easy to maintain. I am getting so many compliments from my friends on the both the color and cut! Brandon was the best with my pre-teen daughter who is VERY picky about her hair. She felt instantly comfortable with him and he took his time giving her the absolute best haircut she has ever received. I can't tell you how much it meant to me that he treated my daughter to kindly and made her feel so special! Colette and Brandon also gave us all kinds of helpful tips on how we can maintain our haircuts back up North as well as many awesome suggestions of fun restaurants and activities to do in Sarasota. This salon is tucked back near downtown Sarasota in a chic, cool environment. The salon is very tidy, cozy, and they even offered me a mimosa upon arrival! I've only ever had a single stylist before, and I was very monogamous to her for all of my hair needs for the last two years. I moved from NYC, back home to Florida and was in need of a salon. Through sorting through many options, d cole had the best, most consistent, reviews. I thought I'd give it a try! I would suggest booking ahead of time, as certain stylists are in demand. I was able to get an appointment with the salon owner, Dylonn. He was incredibly knowledgeable. Took the time to speak to me about exactly what I wanted, and really seemed to care. He made great product recommendations but was by no means pushy (I feel this is important, as I've definitely had stylists hard sell me on their in-house products, so this was refreshing) He was a very nice person to chat with, and a very interesting person, too! I came in for a cut, and full color. I am blonde with fine texture hair. Dylonn did about 10x better than I was even hoping for! I was so happy, and my hair looks phenomenal. I thought my last stylist in the city did an amazing job (which she did!) but I have to say, dylonn did an even better job, and really set the bar high! I also have to say the products he used on my hair (Moroccan and Bumble/Bumble, I believe) were great! I'll definitely have to grab some next time! If you're looking for a new salon, look no further. I selected d.cole because of the glowing 5-star rating it received. Unfortunately, my experience did not come close to a 5-star result. While they couldn't have been nicer, and Brandon looked at the pictures I brought and seemed listen to what I wanted, the result I got was not even close. While I could go into detail about how the color did not come close to the photos I presented or the ashy tone I asked for to match my natural hair didn't happen, my biggest complaint is how badly the highlights were done. For $200 I ought to get a better job than what I could have gotten at SuperCuts! Instead the highlights, 2 days after they were done, do not even come close to my scalp but rather look like a 4-week grow-out! So you can decide for yourself whether you want to risk $200 to get this result. I can assure you I won't be going back. read more

I am a transplant from NE who after alot of research at my hairs expense, scheduled an appointment at D'Cole. That was four years ago, now my whole family gets styled and pampered at D'Cole. The salon is stylish, personable with a great vibe, beverages are always offered, water with a lemon or cucumber ice cube, coffee, or a glass of something more relaxing. Michelle or Lexi are always pleasant when you call and make scheduling a breeze. Brandon is my stylist of choice and is totally amazing. There are stylists out there who will give what you want (or will try to), even though the look may not suit you or your hair just isn't right for that cut or treatment, Brandon however is a stylist who cares about how you look not only when you leave the salon but how your hair looks weeks later, so he takes the time to talk to you about your choice and if necessary offers other options to give you the look that will leave you smiling and wanting to check yourself out in the mirror more than once : ) Brandons attention to detail as well as getting to know his clients likes, dislikes and quirks (be honest we all have them) really makes you relax as soon as you are in his chair, you know you are In good hands. I was coloring my hair on my own and getting a 5 minute cut from somebody cheap in Sarasota. Needless to say, my hair looked like crap. It was too black as my color kept depositing more and more and although the cut was ok, I felt like it needed more attention. I was impressed by the quantity of five-star glowing reviews that this salon received and in particular Brandon. My choice was made very clear... Brandon it was! On October 18th, I had the opportunity to have my first cut and color with Brandon. All of the glowing reviews about him were spot on. He took the time to really listen to my concerns and vision for my hair. He made it clear that he heard me but took it a step further and made some excellent suggestions of his own. He was very focused on the task at hand but also warm, friendly and professional. It was clear that he wasn't going to let me leave the salon until we were BOTH pleased with the end result. I have had the pleasure of being a client of Dylonns for almost ten years now. He is an amazing artist and does a fabulous job on my hair. At one point, I made a horrible decision to try someone new. Wow , what an awakening that was. The other salon was very expensive and I was told if I did not purchase her products that I wouldn't be her customer. She was just so so! So like a dog, with my tail tucked in,I returned to Dylonn and he was so nice about the mistake I made... well let me tell you, I will never have my hair done by anyone else but Dylonn.! People are constantly commenting on my hair, the color, cut and how lovely it always is. This is due to Dylonns brilliant talent! The salon is up beat, chic and hip. I thought a long time before I decided to write this review. I know there a lot of great reviews for this place but I have to say that I had a terrible haircut... The worst in a long time.. My hair is left thinned out and frizzy. I am not sure what kind of texturizing he did but i just wanted long layers. I know that the owner watches the reviews and i think the staff are lovely people, as I enjoyed chatting them up. However, my hair is terrible and i had to go back for color correction. I am even more disappointed because I brought pictures. I cannot speak for all the other hairdressers in there but Mr. Cole let me leave there with a big blotchy highlight on one side of my face. I know a good highlight and cut.. THIS WAS NOT IT!! Plus it cost me a FORTUNE! So for all of you who are offended, please understand that I am simply telling you about my experience. I believe the other two people who did nor leave the salon happy. I actually left happy but looked closer at the color when I got home and it Was Terrible. The cut is a nightmare.. I am left with uneven frizzy hair. If i want it corrected, I will lose length. Perhaps it is the people who left 5 stars on the site who are friends of the salon?? Is there truly anything more terrifying than having a stranger cut your hair after you've had the same stylist for almost four years? That's the situation I found myself in upon moving to Florida. I found this place by way of Yelp (is there any other way?) and read through some of the raving reviews they've received. I figured it couldn't hurt to give it a shot with the worst case scenario being I get a bad haircut and shave my head as a result. Kidding, sort of. I stated to the receptionist that I needed someone who was able to do a proper skin fade since many stylists seem to struggle with it in my experience. She recommended Brandon, and so I scheduled an appointment in preparation of starting my new job. First time through we had some struggles as expected. My previous stylist told me to give it at least three tries before giving up on someone new. It was a solid haircut, but he definitely knew it could be improved upon on the next visit. So, next visit (today). Brandon knew me right away upon entering, a few minutes early at that, and took me immediately. Well second times the charm folks! He didn't even have to ask me what needed to be done. I was incredibly impressed with his precision and attention to detail. He also offered me the option of coming back a few days later just in case I ended up unhappy with the length after styling it myself at home. Great service, patient, understanding. OK. Here is the deal with D.Cole. I'll sum it up with this one story: I dated Dylonn years ago and he also cut my hair. When we broke up I let my hair grow out and I looked like a muppet. Dylonn is soooo good at cuts I could not find anyone better so I finally had to call him to say, "look, you may not like me right now and this may be awkward but you make my hair look good and I need you to cut my hair. Please cut my hair". He agreed and I'm a happy customer after 6 years. The light at the end of the tunnel is we are great friends now and I have yet to find anyone that can top a D.Cole cut. I've been a client of D. Cole for over 10 years now. I have fine and thin hair which makes me a not so great candidate for long hair. I was always afraid to get it cut because I didn't want to get stuck with a bad one. Dylonn and Colette are both really good at what they do. Dylonn has been my main stylist because a friend recommended him, but before I could get in with him, Colette did my hair a couple times and she did a great job! I really appreciate that Dylonn is honest with me about what kind of cut will and will not work for my hair type. I think people sometimes expect a cut to look exactly like the magazine clip they've selected, when in reality everyone's hair is different. Dylonn knows what's best for different hair types. I sometimes want something different and he'll tell me that it won't work for my hair. I'd rather be disapponted for a a few seconds that my hair wont look as good in a certain cut, than to be dissappointed for weeks because my cut doesn't work for me. I've been really happy with the different cuts that he has chosen for my hair type. I have had some versitilality over the years for sure! And I'm positive there will be more. I've never had a problem with a cut or a color from D. Cole. They use quality products and if something has gone down in quality over the years, Dylonn will stop carrying it. All of the stylists keep up with what is new and fresh. They go to conventions and competitions every year. Dylonn is very particular when it comes to hiring his staff. A Sarasota GEM! I have lived in Los Angeles, Washington DC, Scottsdale, AZ, and aboard and this is BY FAR my favorite salon and stylists yet! Dylonn and Collete have create such a cool environment - it's small, but doesn't feel uncomfortable. They're kind, funny, and incredible talents! I came in with hair that was destroyed by months in the sun and, rather than putting more chemicals in, Colette saved my hair and I've been so happy ever since! The prices are so reasonable to the quality of what they're doing and how not stressful the experience is. It's not like a conveyor belt salon, you don't see five different people, it's just you and your stylist. Could not give a better recommendation. The decor is modern and chic. The staff was courteous and attentive. I was unexpectedly offered a mimosa while I waited! There was also this cute little dog with painted nails that hopped into my lap to keep me company in the waiting area haha. I had my hair done by Sarah. What a beautiful and talented girl!
