What a special place Grand Mountain Trading will hold in my heart. My husband and I are from Kansas…read moreand we eloped in Grand Lake, CO. The evening we arrived to our airbnb, I realized we forgot ALL our shoes back home except the ones on our feet. That included our dress shoes for the big day. Luckily we had one more full day before our elopement and Grand Mountain Trading was the first place I put on my list in hopes of finding shoes. I didn't have a lot of hope as my husband is a size 14 men's and I'm size 12 women's, and most places don't carry our sizes. And I figured there was no way a small mountain town store would have our sizes. I WAS WRONG. We found hiking shoes in both of our sizes. I even found mine on sale in the bargain room. My husband found these perfect black cowboy boots, and I ended up getting some super cute boots to wear on the big day, instead of settling for my oofo flip flops. Now let me talk about Libby. This employee is an angel! We told her our story and before even trying to sell their shoes, she was telling us about other places we could go. She was very nice and helpful. When checking out, I believe it was the owner, she knocked my shoes down from $99.99 to $49.99 and took $10 off each pair of boots as she also heard about our story. We also received tokens for $5 off every $30 spent. We went back the next day after our elopement and got some awesome RMNP shirts. If you're in the Granby area, you need to stop in Grand Mountain Trading!

The wife decided to stop here and she and the kid found a cap that can be customized. The kid chose to customize with her initials. It turned out to be adorable. Besides caps for kids, there is a selection of different clothes for women, apparently a wine station, and other stuff for women that I did not really pay attention to, but the store seemed to be very popular with women.

While beginning our walk downtown to explore a place we've never been (Sept. 4, 2026 late morning)…read more I walked in to Mary Jane's while my husband was in a store nearby. Three women were behind the counter talking the entire time that I walked around their store. Not once did anyone acknowledge me. Not one simple greeting, not one Can I help you?, not one! I left, saw my husband waiting outside for me and told him 'I want to do an experiment to see what might happen if I walk in with a man. Sadly, what I thought would happen, happened. We recieved a greeting and within seconds. The owner/manager walked up to us and asked if she could help us. I told her the story and she apologized. I couldn't truly identify what three women it was, but I'm confident she knew (wasnt like there were ten working that morning). My first trip to Estes, my first store to walk into and this is how I was treated. The greetings I received from other stores made the day better. ---- It doesn't cost a thing to be kind! ---- A women's card works just as well as her husband's does.
