From the first time that I spoke with Marissa, I knew that she was going to be the perfect person to work with! She truly went above and beyond throughout my entire wedding planning process! I hired Marissa as the "day of coordinator" but she really did so much more than that! Marissa was available to me any time that I had any questions. She met with my family and I in Minnesota a few months before the wedding when we happened to be in town and had dinner with us. She had at least three to four conference calls with us throughout the wedding planning process. She even went to the venue with my mom a month before the wedding when my mom happened to be in town. And any time that anything came up, Marissa was always there to help me or to answer any questions that I had. On the day of my wedding, Marissa was at the venue early in the morning setting up my fairytale wedding. She worked tirelessly all day - in the heat and humidity. She kept the wedding running smoothly. She stayed for the entire wedding and even picked up afterwards. As an out of town bride, I was somewhat needy. But, Marissa was always patient and there for me! I really appreciate everything that Marissa did for me! Hire Marissa! With Marissa, your day will be perfect!

We had no…read moresignificant problems with Marissa: her price is right (we hired her for day-of services for $500, which is considerably less than many other local providers) and, on the day, things largely went smoothly. That said, I found Marissa's personality a challenge. At our rehearsal, for example, she was very dismissive of our officiant's plans/suggestions and seemed to respond to mildly challenging situations (e.g. corralling people to walk down the aisle) by getting visibly annoyed rather than calmly directive. There seemed to be a tension underlying a lot of her tasks and, though things got done, I didn't feel great about the atmosphere and, in some cases, felt like I needed to apologize on her behalf (e.g. to the officiant) for her demeanor. With that said, the wedding day went smoothly and my (limited) interactions with her that day were fine. So, perhaps this is down to personality differences. In which case, if you are considering this company's services, I would merely recommend that you take the time to meet with Marissa and evaluate whether she is a good fit for you.

We hired experienced vendors for a reason. Why would we need a separate coordinator? We needed our own day-of coordinator. Dana was perfect. (Special thanks to our photographer, Adrian Steinbach, for recommending her.) She'd have been an excellent full coordinator if we'd engaged her earlier, but for us, it was great to bring her into the planning ~2-3 months before our wedding. She ended up providing day-of coordination and some bonus last-minute vendor coordination and planning documentation in the several weeks beforehand. She thought of all the little things we wouldn't ever even know to think about. Made sure the aisles were packed at our ceremony. Suggested fair tip amounts/standards and distributed them to vendors day of. Made sure vendors were all in the right place at the right time. Shared planning templates with us. On the day of, we didn't need to worry about anything. We just trusted that Dana would guide us through, and she did wonderfully. As a bonus, she brought in her sister the day of the event for additional support! And she made sure we had safe Hora chairs so we didn't fall off. We trust our vendor team. They do this all the time. We do this once. Trust experts. Put them in a position to take care of you and they will. Dana was fantastic.

Liz helped write and deliver two ceremonies from our meetings, where my husband and I were mostly awkward and hadn't done our homework from the meeting prior (sorry!) and generally unhelpful with what we wanted. Even given all of that, our ceremonies ended up being perfect for us! Liz was super easy to work with, scheduling meetings were a breeze as was the review process ahead of time! Within moments of connecting with her, it felt as though I was catching up with an old friend from years ago and no time had passed. We met up in person for champagne and snacks! We got to meet her husband and got to know her better too! We spent 2 hours all 4 of us just talking! HAHA! It was a fun memorable meeting that definitely didn't feel like a "meeting"! Shawna picks up details you don't realize you communicate. She really got to know us, chatted with us like we were close friends and she is just.... Real. My second appointment with Brenda was honestly one of the most frustrating experiences I had throughout my wedding planning. I waited about 15 minutes while she ate, and then she left me for another 10 minutes to look at an email. When I brought up sleeves for my dress, which we had already discussed during my first appointment, she became visibly upset. She threw scissors across the room and told me I was being "difficult." After spending another 10 minutes looking for sleeves, she brought out beautiful glittery lace sleeves. The problem was that my wedding dress had no glitter whatsoever, so they obviously did not coordinate with my dress. When I politely rejected them, she told me I was "hard to impress" and that it would be difficult to find something that would work. A few minutes later, she brought out lace material instead. She then told me that if I went through with the sleeves, I would probably eventually have to cut them off because they were likely to rip. Needless to say, this was extremely concerning to hear about something being altered onto my wedding dress. At my third appointment, I worked with Sarah instead, and she was absolutely lovely. She was kind, patient, and explained everything to me without making me feel like I was being difficult. She was actually surprised when I told her I had been told I would eventually have to cut the sleeves off and assured me that shouldn't be the case. Unfortunately, even though Sarah was wonderful, I still left with an unfinished dress. There were safety pins left in my wedding dress that I didn't notice until I put it on. My photographer had even taken photos of the dress hanging, and you can clearly see the safety pins in the dress. When I removed the pins, a significant amount of loose fabric came off. The extra fabric had never been properly removed. My bridesmaids and maid of honor ended up having to cut off a large amount of excess fabric themselves right before I was supposed to be taking photos with my photographer. After paying nearly $1,000 for alterations, I never expected to have to finish my wedding dress myself on my wedding day. I called the shop afterward to see if there was anything they could do to compensate me for the situation. I only received a voicemail saying they would speak with the last person who had worked on my dress. I have yet to hear anything back. The most disappointing part is learning that Brenda is an owner of the business. I believe she knows what she is doing when it comes to alterations, but her customer service and the way she treated me were completely unacceptable. Being called "difficult" and "hard to impress," having scissors thrown across the room, and ultimately leaving me with an unfinished dress is not how a bride should be treated--especially when she has paid nearly $1,000 for the service. Sarah was kind and professional, and I truly appreciate how she treated me. Unfortunately, the overall experience was overshadowed by my experience with Brenda and the fact that my dress was not finished properly. I was so excited to have my wedding dress altered and ready for my wedding day, and instead, this added unnecessary stress to an already emotional and important time. Because of this experience, I will not be returning to or recommending this business.
