My BF and I planned a last minute trip to St Augustine right before Christmas to check out the Nights of Lights. Since it was planned last minute accommodations were insanely expensive at some places we have stayed in the past. The Local came up on my searches and we decided to give it a shot as it was about half the price we were seeing at other hotels in the area. The Local reminded me of a show on saw on netflix Motel Makeover in which two female business partners buy old motels and redo them to make them cute and instagrammable. Exterior is pink, the inside of the rooms have fun tropical wallpaper and there are two mural on the exterior for all your selfies. The rooms have a microwave, mini fridge, and a roku TV. Bathrooms were pretty basic no IG enhancements there. No one works there. There is no lobby or staff which was kinda scary if an emergency happened. Thankfully it wasn't an issue but worth noting. The "lobby" area is a hydration room which has a coffee/espresso/tea maker and a couple of chairs. To check in you use an app in which you have to send a pic of your ID and yourself to be verified and then the app works as a room key. The room key also opens the hydration room. It was cold so we didn't use the pool, basic but looked nice. The flamingo float was the only swimmer that day. Its located on Anastasia Island about 3/4 of a mile from the bridge of Lions. We opted to walk into downtown both nights since traffic was crazy due to Nights of Lights. It wasn't a bad walk due to cold weather and theres a few cool stops to stop at along the way but in the summer it would be brutal. My major issue with the local was the fact you can hear EVERYTHING and I mean everything. The room we had was on the side of the building as the road and you can hear all the cars speeding by. You basically feel like your sleeping with the windows open. On top of that you can hear everything from the adjoining rooms. You can hear their TV noises, sneezes and everything else if you catch my drift. If you are remotely a light sleeper this will be a major issue. While I enjoyed my stay for what it was due to the noise issues I would probably not opt to stay at The Local again.

The Local was absolutely amazing We were there for a bachelor/bachelorette party and we loved it. The service was great and they were very accommodating. The digital aspect of it was super cool. We also LOVED the pool! Come and stay there and enjoy the beautiful city of St. Augustine Florida and don't forget to stay LOCAL! #supportsmallbussines

We needed a place very last minute, and were pleasantly surprised to see an opening. They use an online app for the door key, which we ran into some difficulties with because we booked through Booking.com. We also couldn't find our room at first, but was very happy to see we had a poolside room in the back. It had everything we needed for a weekend. Great location. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Downtown and beach not far.

Ear plugs.... That tells you enough... walls are paper thin and could hear neighbors and their conversations and tvs

Hotel is addorable and very communicative even though never encountering a human. It is on a main road A1A and extremely busy when we stayed. There was no parking near our room, so we had yo park on the other side of the motel. This upset me. The walls are paper thin and the a/c is very loud.... So much so that they supplied ear plugs! TV remote is sticky (yuck!!). The service was great, text follow up daily and when I needs extra towels they were brought right away and they replaced the lightbulbs which were out. For being a "newly" remodeled motel, the grout was black and there were stains on the counter top and soap ledge in the shower. We ate at Mojo's across the street and at the Full Service Gas Burger place down the street... both had amazing food! Traffic in the area was ridiculous 30 minutes to go 3 miles....

    Easy to find!

The theme is retro. The amenities are basic. One comfortable bed. Plan to eat at a restaurant or at the pool, no chairs or table in the room. Our room was spotless clean! Our room faced A1A. Try to get a room that does not face A1A. The pool was nice and very clean. There are no trash cans outside of the rooms which is by design to keep the property so clean. Check in was no-contact and simple. Never leave the room without your phone or you will be locked out. We were there Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and never saw anyone manning the office. We were there Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and never needed help from the staff. We rented through VRBO and our host was awesome! It is convenient to walk to a several good places to eat, It is a bit too far to walk across the Bridge of Lions to the historical district. They have electric bikes available to rent. None of the above is a complaint, just pointing out for the benefit of other travelers. Lots of pluses above, enough to choose a return trip sometime.

My husband and I stayed for a night for a concert at the amphitheater. I've been wanting to stay here for quite a while now after seeing all their cute Instagram posts! We had an issue with my phone being able to connect to the mobile key for our room but Leila , the owner was able to help us. She went above and beyond to help us and try to figure out the problem! The location is great for anyone going to the amphitheater or downtown ! Very close to many nearby shops and restaurants as well. Definitely will be staying again for future concerts / events

So glad I found this place! Saw it on a random TikTok during the Barbie craze and decided to stay for a night on a road trip home from FL to KY. We usually are Marriott people, so the bar is set pretty high. We loved it here! Didn't feel unsafe at all with the exterior corridor as the surrounding area is very nice. Room itself was spotless - decorated so cute and comfortable! Pool area was so cute and fun as well - especially the towels! Enjoyed the aesthetic in the "lobby" and just the property in general. Loved the concept of a modernized retro roadside motel. The app with the virtual room key drained my phone battery a decent amount which is my only real complaint here. Price was cheap but appropriate given lack of overhead/breakfast etc. Be sure to try Osteens shrimp nearby - we loved it!

We had such a good experience at the local. The staff was nice and helpful, the whole aesthetic of the motel was BEAUTIFUL with so many fun photo opportunities and the rooms were extremely clean. The rooms are pretty small, but they have all you need and this didn't bother us as we were away from our room most of the time. The location of this motel is PERFECT. It is very close to downtown as well as a short drive to the beach. You are provided with a mini fridge, microwave and shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There is also a latte machine/ tea machine in the front and bike rentals if you would rather leave your car. The only complaint I would have is there are a lot of parking spots, but they fill up quick and they aren't super accessible for larger trucks if the lot is full. We only had an issue with parking once but it was resolved as we waited in our truck until somebody left. I would say we got lucky because we were on the second floor on the end so we didn't hear much of anybody in other rooms until the morning we were leaving. The AC unit is extremely loud and can be frustrating if you can't sleep to loud noises, but this wasn't an issue for us as we understand it is an old unit and it also blocked out the noise of the neighbors when there was noise. If you watch tv at night, I would suggest bringing a fire stick and hooking it up to the tv because our tv only had one channel. If you are looking for a place to eat there is a toasted sub place right next door that had some of the best subs we have ever had. Overall such a cute motel, great price and totally worth it. If we come to this area again we will be back!

Super cute hotel, affordable and clean. We will be staying there again. Didn't get to use the bikes to go into the historical part of town but one guest said it was a great ride over.

Looking for a cute spot to stay in Saint Augustine? The Local is the perfect place Girl's weekend, bachelorette party, birthday celebration, anniversary, whatever the event OR just because! This hotel has an adorable coffee lounge, Insta-worthy photo spots, flamingo inflatables in the pool and bike rentals right out front! Quick trip over the bridge to the old city for all the downtown local fun When booking, let them know what you're celebrating and they'll be happy to share ideas and a little something extra for your stay! The coffee room was the perfect place for us babes to chat about where to eat next! Also, the vanilla latte was a "go to" drink every morning!

Great location and nicely renovated mid mod motel that is dog friendly. Excellent coffee and tea in the lobby. Decent bed with great pillows and extra blanket if needed. App based keycard could not be easier. Good Wi-Fi. Stayed in room 105 there was street noise as expected. Coffee maker in room. Windows were unlocked and unscreened. I noticed when opening them to air out the taco smell from the delicious tacos we got across the street. Otherwise it felt safe. Good food within walking distance and in a central location. Pool was adorable but too cold to swim.

Love visiting this location!…read more I've always made sure to make a stop here when I'm visiting St. Augustine. This last visit was no different! Inside is spacious, clean and what's really interesting is that they have informative areas that showcase the distillation process and other fun facts about the distillery! I enjoy coming for their tasting that they offer. While it use to be free of charge local businesses in the area that also had tastings started charging so that makes sense especially with the amount of visitors they get! Luckily it's only $5 dollars and you get a chance to enjoy a variety of their products. There are employees are different stations that give you information on the spirits and mixers they offer while they craft drinks for you to try. Such as a mule with their vodka, a sweet tasting drink with their crafted rum, another with gin and the final stopping point is an old fashioned! If you end up loving any of the drinks, you're able to purchase a bottle there in their gift shop. They also offer to hold any of your purchases for a later pickup time if you don't want to be holding onto your purchase if you're busy visiting and exploring the city. They also provide different paid experiences involving their whiskey. I have yet to try them out but maybe one day I'll make sure to!

We stopped in unexpectedly, signed in without any trouble, and were done in under a half hour. It helped that it wasn't crowded at all and our group of 5 were the only ones on the tasting tour at the time. You get to taste 4 different cocktails made with their various products. The first two were decent, with the second being a step up from the first. The third was our favorite by far, a tiki rum cocktail that actually had a really nice flavor to it. The fourth and final one was a straight vodka pour from an older woman at the last station. She told us that good vodka shouldn't taste like nail polish, which is a bold thing to say right before handing someone a sample that tasted pretty much exactly like acetone. A couple of us couldn't even finish it. The staff overall were super friendly though, and it was genuinely cool getting to go behind the scenes and see all the big machinery in the distillery. Now the gift shop at the end is a different story. Everything was overpriced, and their clearance section was almost insulting, with maybe $2 knocked off the regular prices. We won't be buying any of their products, but for $5 the tasting itself was a fun little experience worth checking out if you're in the area.

The owner renovated the inside so that it's got modern amenities and sleeps six people comfortably. The first time we visited the place, it was like an awakening. It was the PERFECT place for my husband and I to get have our wedding. Of course, we had 85 guests, so the ceremony had to be elsewhere, but this was perfect for the reception. It was the perfect size for everyone to move around freely and still have a small dance floor. Also the price is crazy good. You will NOT find a more reasonable deal in town. Bring in your own vendors and you can create a fabulous wedding on a modest budget. I'm not just saying that because I am the proud bride. I'm saying it because it's a recession and fabulous doesn't normally come cheap. And I don't throw the word FABULOUS around breezily. I'm deadly serious. Anyway, you get the place in all it's charm for three days and two nights. Then you can rent it for an extra day for a good price. When originally searching for a wedding venue we had a few must-haves, which included a location with historical character, in driving distance from Orlando, and located in a town where out-of-state visitors could enjoy exploring. And so we focused in on St. Augustine. I had a good gut instinct about the Sanchez House from the moment I discovered them online, and I must shamelessly admit that I stalked the websites of every couple who had their wedding at the Sanchez House. We quickly booked a visit to the Sanchez House, because they are only able to hold 12 weddings a year due to being zoned in a residential area. We met with the owner, Blake, who shared with us the history of the home, gave tips from other weddings held on the premise, and shared some of his favorite vendors. When we experienced the venue in person, we fell even more in love with the charm that was evident around every corner of the house! The SH offers a brick courtyard, artificial turf front lawn, large gathering room, dining room, kitchen, office, two bedrooms, small one-car garage, and an attic. Not only can you hold your wedding events at the house, but you are able to stay there, as well. This allowed us and our bridal party, 6 in total, to stay at the house. So convenient! After booking the Sanchez House, we decided to extend our celebration into an entire weekend. Our events spanned from 50 to 90 guests, and SH accommodates them comfortably. The house is in an excellent location by the bay and walking distance to historic St. George Street. At the SH, we were able to select our own vendors. We held our ceremony in the courtyard which transformed to the dance floor. The front lawn was donned with a heated tent and tables on the coldest Florida winter day. It even snowed lightly! Guests had the chance to mingle throughout the house in the dining room, gathering room, and balcony. I would note that the parking around the SH can be challenging, but we gave plenty of parking options for guests through our wedding website and social media, and suggested our guests to stay at one of the nearby hotels or bed & breakfasts. I highly recommend the Sanchez House for any couple looking for an intimate St. Augustine venue!
