Family time was wonderful and the staff was awesome too! Access to the water was okay as I'm an amputee.

So every year we do a family blue lake trip with my husband and 2 kids. And his father (and a few others). His father puts it on and books our rooms for us which is super sweet. He's been here before, my husband and I have not. We came late July for 4 days/3 nights and the weather was perfect in the mid 80's. Water wasn't too cold. It's always windy there I feel like. We had a really wonderful time. We came to blue lake last August at a different campground and it was over100 degrees every day. This lodge was pretty cool. I've seen the negative reviews and I do understand where people are coming from. However the pros did outweigh the cons for us. Apparently there is new ownership. The two men who work there and that we encountered the time we were there were very nice, helpful and always around if we needed anything. Garbages were dumped every day , property seemed well maintained. We stayed in the suite with the full kitchen and futon in living room for the kids. It had AC which was very nice! I guess my only complaints was - 1) "beach" is definitely on the smaller side. wasn't really a problem for us though 2) the rooms were definitely not very clean. The floors were very nasty and I wouldn't let anyone in the family walk on them barefoot. The futon was fabric and yucky stains everywhere , everything in the kitchen felt sticky, walls were dirty, etc. But you can't really expect much since you're at a cabin at the lake. I just wish it had been a cleaner. Like floors should be vacuumed and mopped after every guest and it was very clear that they had not been for a very long time. 3) you have to pay to use their propane BBQs. I So we had our own little camping stove we brought and used. 4) definitely feels a bit overpriced for what you get here. Otherwise we had a wonderful stay. It was fun to jump and swim off the dock, we caught tons of bluegill and bass from the dock every day/night. The grassy area out front looking out in the lake was beautiful, great view. They had tables and chairs outside the rooms and on the grass. We brought a SUP and lots of floaties and was at the beach /in the water most the days They don't have any little store of sorts but there is one a short walk away they have some basic little things, ice cream etc. Overall we had an amazing trip with lovely memories made, we'll definitely plan to come back here again some day. We're doing pine acres next year but we do like both spots so may switch it up each year. read more

Love this lake but this customer service was absolutely AWFUL!!! I called to reserve a boat the day before we planned a blue lake boat day. The lady I spoke to told me to come in after 1PM the next day & a boat would be available for us. I showed up with 4 excited kids & 6 adults who all were disappointed to hear they actually only had 2 working boats of all the boats the advertised & none available when the lady I talked to on the phone the day before told me to come in. The extremely lazy boy working the front desk was quick to blame his co-worker. He then made our experience worse by charging everyone in our party a day pass/ water trampoline rental that was not in the water, deflated and very unsafe for our kids. We asked for help to get it in the water in a safe place & pumped as it should be and he said it was above his pay grade. He eventually reluctantly helped. Overall, horrible experience. I hope he understands that he was actually probably getting paid more than he deserves because he really struggled doing the minimum. Great Lake, cool spot. Do not stay here! This is the first negative review I have ever left. This place is an absolute shithole with the worst customer service I have ever encountered in my life. We arrived and were told not to get angry if our room is dirty. And our room was - of course - dirty. Beds were made like a teenager would make them. Hairs all over them. They hadn't been cleaned whatsoever. When we went to ask for a new room the guy just had the handyman clean the room and put clean sheets on instead. Does it take someone to call out a dirty room for them to clean it? The guy at the office seemed strung out, was mumbling and barely making any sense. One minute said they were so busy and had no other room available to then 5 minutes later saying it's so slow and that's why he's being slow?? We enjoyed the lake, but they aren't responsible for the lake. This is a 1 start motel that is fortunate enough to back onto a beautiful lake and beautiful scenery. When we were out in the water we almost forgot about the hotel, but then when we went back in the tv wasn't working and the blinds wouldn't open. I went out and saw the guy and asked if he could help me get the tv on, and he asks which room number I'm in and goes "oh yeah that one doesn't work". It was just so, so bad. I wish I'd paid attention and read other reviews before booking. This place should be charging way less than $100 per night, but they're charging $250 + per night for the rooms that don't even have the lake. The audacity also to charge for use of the grill, which by the way hasnt been cleaned in years. I didn't even want my food going anywhere near it. Front desk attendant hardly looked up when we checked in. Seemed completely out of it. We were warned, if our room " was dirty, don't blame me yell at the other guy with a beard." so this already had us feeling apprehensive about checking into the room. Lo and behold the room was filthy. The sheets were covered in long hairs like the beds had been slept in. The floors had not been swept. There were bugs everywhere. Bathrooms gross. We immediately went back to the front desk and asked if we could have a different room and the gentleman told us that they did not have any as there was no maid and that room had already been specifically "cleaned" in order for us to check in that day. It seemed like the maintenance guy came out to change our sheets and when we went back to the room, it definitely was in better condition BUT the blinds were broken and the TV was broken. I wouldn't even care if the front desk guy could've given us a heads up. It just made for a depressing, dirty, dark, and dingy room. The property is absolutely beautiful and we were so happy to enjoy the lake. Honestly there are other places to stay on the lake that are better so my advice: keep looking! I have never left a bad review in my life, but the lack of customer service and complete carelessness of the front desk staff left me feeling so disappointed that I had spent over $200 for a single night in one of the most nightmare hotel rooms I've ever seen. If there had been any communication or care at all I could have been understanding but the guy shrugged us off like our check in was an inconvenience itself. I am giving 1 star only because the guy who checked me in this weekend was extremely friendly, funny, and helpful. I have stayed here plenty of times and now learning that it has gone under new management I am writing this review. Where to begin ughhhh, Upon arrival I was advised by another person who was staying here that the manager Barbara was crazy... They had accidently let the main gate close a little too hard and the manager (Barbara)came out screaming at them with a bat in her hand.... that was the first red flag. I happened to be put in the exact same room that I was in the last time I stayed and noticed that the TV was much smaller than the last time and the walls were very dirty and there were cobwebs all over, second red flag... The bed was clean and comfortable so that was nice but once it came time for me to shower, is when things really started going downhill, the towels had stains on them that were visible when held up to the light, DISGUSTING! When I went to get new towels from the front desk later on, Barbara gave me 1 towel and a floor mat and aggressively asked me if I was going to be using the towels at the beach area. I told her no and then she handed me the towels. For people who like to fish dont even try off any of their docks, they will come out yelling at you to stop, mind you it never used to be like this.. I was out there at 11pm and sure enough one of the guys came out and told me to stop fishing, when I told them that I have been fishing off that dock since I was a kid they told me that Barbara was watching on the cameras and didn't want me fishing on the boat dock but that I could go fish of another dock riddled with tall grass all around in the water and basically a one way ticket to snag town or possibly losing an expensive lure. In the end my stay was not relaxing in any way and my room was never cleaned in the daytime even though I asked them to do so. read more

Save your money!!! The website is false advertisement. Just to kayak or even look at the dock at this run down hotel and to kayak off this hotels rundown dock (Mind you our own kayaks from home not rented from them) the front office was trying to charge us 140$?!? Absolutely outrageous. Also the office lady was absolutely rude to the male employee that was working with her and she was not helpful whatsoever... definitely not a good experience mind you I traveled 2 hours and 30 minutes to get here that's why I also said website was false advertising because there was no mention of other fees besides a 30$ day pass. They should have zero stars! Upon arrival there was no one at the front desk so we rang the bell . A man (Terrance)came and his first words were" I don't know where ya'll come from but we don't have no teleportation here! All we did was ring the bell. He proceded to be extremely rude, everything was a massive effort. He took us to our room and not the one I booked, it was musty and depressing. I went back and asked for what I booked and although it was an improvement he after asked us if we messed up #10. We were so upset we knew we wouldn't stay the 2nd night so asked him to process one night which he said" catch me later another time" problem was he was never at the desk. Ever, I looked multiple times! Our room itself had no glasses or coffee cups, the coffee had not been replenished and not enough towels. I thought the pillow was smelly and sure enough the manager confirmed Terence sometimes cleans the room, based on his appearance and attitude I was sleeping on dirty sheets! So disgusting! The manager also said they were creating an "experience" if you would like a dirty, roadside motel experience then this might be for you but otherwise, buyer beware!! The website makes the rooms look nice but they are awful! I tried to check out at 11 on Sunday and no one was there or answered the ring. I left the keys in the box. The location really makes this place worth spending any money. I seen someone had said this should be a motel instead of a hotel, completely agree. Stayed here one night and being on the lake was awesome. I recommend bringing your own floats and other equipment as they charge pretty high to borrow theirs. Ice box was very broken, lid was off the hinge lying in the ice. Towels had yellow stains on them, when asked to have extra towels the woman had told me to smell them because they've been sitting out awhile. The floor didn't really feel like it had been swept. Rented a boat for 2 hours,the Lodge charged us for 3, 2 hours for $350,but they charged our credit card card $510. We called them right away and we're told they would ta care of the difference when we arrive,but when we arrived they said sorry no refunds period.we are very upset,very unfriendly and rude staff. We almost didn't come because of Yelp, but glad we didn't let the negative reviews sway us. Charlie and Jose are THE BEST. Happy to help and always with a smile. Not sure what the other reviews are complaining about. (It was amazing enough for me to come back and leave a review.) The waterfront room we got was fine - clean sheets and doable . It's a lodge in nature, not the Four Seasons people. There will be bugs! We did discover the suite at the end of our stay and OMG. We are booking it next time (because we're making this place one of our regular staycation spots)! But the property is what we loved most. Yes, there are boats, paddle boards & kayaks you can rent. But there's also fishing off the dock, a water trampoline, private "beach" w/ sand & swimming/floating access, huge grass lawn overlooking the water where you can lay out (if you're not a sand person) & picnic, and bbqing on the deck with lots of tables to dine at. We have 3 kids (8, 6 and 10 mos) and came up with family, also with a bunch of kids. Everyone had a good time! Yelp is tough because there are a lot of keyboard warriors out there. The Lodge at Blue Lakes was an amazing stay. The staff (Charlie, Ryan, and Jose) were incredibly helpful and friendly. The Lodge is right off the road however, the lake was extremely clear, clean, peaceful, and calm. This was an excellent stay where you can stand up board, rent a boat, and play in the sand. We did it all! There was a point when an amenity went down however, Charlie was more than happy to find a way to make it right without skipping a beat. This level of customer service made our stay even better. Totally recommend this lodge especially, if you are looking for a weekend trip or to break up a long drive... and we will be coming back very soon! read more

Please beware of this place and specifically Hattie the manager. Her reputation in all of these other reviews proceeds her. I wish I could include her copied and pasted chat GPT- response stating their no refunds policy because we agreed to their terms when signing the waiver for a 2 hour boat rental. Our boat broke down and we had to be towed back after less than half the time we paid for. According to Hattie, even in the case of mechanical failure and rental time being cut in half, they don't offer refunds. She said she can tell I do this all the time, as if we somehow caused the boat to break down while we were on it with a toddler and an infant as some sort of scam. And that she's confident our credit card company will side with them if we dispute the charge. I don't think we're the scam artists here, Hattie. We were offered a voucher for another boat ride but we live hours away and don't plan on returning to the lake this summer. And when we do, we definitely won't be patronizing The Lodge. read more

Avoid This Place! Rude Staff, Terrible Service, and Run-Down Property I live just 25 minutes away and every summer we do a staycation on Blue Lakes. This year, everything was booked except The Lodge at Blue Lakes, so we gave it a shot. Big mistake. We reserved two rooms. We arrived at 1pm (check-in is at 3), and in the past, they have let us use the lake while we wait or charged a small fee. But these new owners were incredibly rude. The office was locked, and it took a while to even find someone. When I finally did, I offered to pay for early use and was told it would be $30 per person or $50 per room, just to sit by the lake for two hours while we waited for our room. I asked them to call me when the room was ready. So I could pay the $50 for early check-in. They never called. At 3pm, check-in took forever and was poorly organized. Other guests waiting in the office were frustrated too; they had arrived just 20 minutes early and were also denied check-in. It was a mess. Eventually, they gave us one room, and we waited another hour for the second. When I politely mentioned how inconsiderate it felt to make us wait in the hot parking lot with a baby, especially after being treated so rigidly earlier, the woman got defensive and rude. She even made a passive-aggressive comment to her coworker about "one-day stays" as if we weren't welcome because we weren't staying longer. When our room was finally available (over an hour later), she told my husband, "This isn't a 5-star hotel or a resort," which, honestly, we already knew. But that doesn't excuse being unkind or inflexible. The rooms themselves? Total letdown. Outdated and cheap. The soap dispensers in the shower were broken and empty. No recycling. The whole property feels run-down and neglected. We weren't expecting luxury, just basic hospitality and decent customer service. Instead, we got attitude, disorganization, and a $579 charge for a truly unpleasant experience. We had the most incredible time at The Lodge at Blue Lakes. From the moment we arrived, Charlie, the host, ensured our experience was nothing short of exceptional. His hospitality and conversations added an extra layer of warmth to our stay. We stayed two nights and both evenings, used the barbecue grills to cook delicious dinners. Our favorite part was dining in the gazebo next to the grill, overlooking the lake and taking in the scenery. Also, the lodge hired a DJ who mixed great music into the afternoon right on the patio! The rooms were clean and comfortable, and had back door access to the patio and lawn chairs. You are really lakefront - it was the perfect nature retreat to unwind and appreciate the tranquility of our surroundings. We will definitely be back! read more

Our group of about 40 had an awesome time at The Lodge over the weekend. Right on the lake, with recreational water activities available (boats, hydrobikes, kayaks, swimming). They have a really nice suite that has a bedroom, kitchen, dining room, living room. The room we chose was not the suite but it had a kitchenette in it (fully stocked, stove, oven, sink, microwave, toaster, and full sized fridge!) Great price and beautiful location! Refrigerator was leaking, floor was wet and the front desk gave us towels to clean it up, in addition, fireplace didn't work and employee said he didn't know how to work it. We have been coming to this property for 25 years. Previous owner kept it clean and very inviting. They had coffee and breakfast on weekends included into the price. People came to relax and enjoy the nature. Since the property has been sold, it changed quite number of the owners. None of them didn't try keep it on the same level it was before. The prices almost doubled, they removed breakfast, they started to charge for everything, for BBQ usage , for gazebo usage, for staying after checkout on the beach for couple hours. Rooms are not clean anymore, if you complaint about something, their current manager Hattie Gettis will suggest you NOT to come anymore if you are not happy. One more thing, as this property on the water, mosquitos are vicious there. They supposed to spray the beach against that, it has been done by older owner regularly, never had any problems. On top of that, they are very fraudulent with your reservations. We reserved this place using one of the 3rd party back in January to make sure we have lake view rooms. We have used that 3rd party before without any issues. On Sep 5th we supposed to be checked in, after driving for 2.5 hrs from SF we were told that they don't have our reservations in their system. Two rooms were sold out to the party they have at that day. We showed them confirmations from 3rd party with paid off the rooms, Hattie Gettis told us that all complaints should go directly to that 3rd party, they don't have our reservations. We called to the 3rd party and they confirmed that reservation has been made and paid off fully back in January, 3 rd party returned our money, however, Lodge told us rudely that if we don't like it, don't come back. We bought day passes ($25/person) through the Lodge at Blue Lakes so we could use their lake-front properties for the day. It was a wonderful experience! This is right on the lake and we had access to beach chairs and the gorgeous lake view. We rented kayaks for $60/hour, and there was other water equipment available for rent too. There was a bathroom on the premises which was helpful. Charlie was managing the property and he was super friendly and nice to work with. read more

Don't kid yourself, it's not a lodge it's a motel. Yuk! It's a misnomer to say they have a beach. It's a tiny scrap of sand and there was almost nowhere to sit and no space on the decks above. Very uncomfortable. The person that checked us in July 19 felt angry, the check in took forever and it was extremely tense. Our room was large, but not very nice. And it was DIRTY! The shower was gross and it didn't look the room had been cleaned at all. There was one paper coffee cup and some packs of creamer and straws that were open and someone had already pawed through them and taken things out. Day Pass review only (we didn't stay at the lodge). This place is AWESOME. So much fun! Our age group was teenager to 70+ years old grandparents. My son enjoyed hydro bike and water trampoline. My Dad had fun fishing off the dock. There's a small shop next door that sells sandwiches, refreshments and bait (live worms), so it was super easy to get everything we need for a fun day by the lake. Lake is clear and nicely refreshing on a hot summer day. We didn't even get to try out other activities that the lodge offers (boat rental, kayaks). 22 rooms. A tranquil setting. Postcard picturesque with mountains as your backdrop, especially with the lake just right outside your door. We wanted to get out of the city for the 4th of July because our dog is noise sensitive to fireworks. We booked a room at the last minute and ended up getting the last remaining room, and we're so glad we did! Located 2.5 hrs north of the city, it's a great getaway. Our room was cozy, with modern amenities. Nice, but not obnoxious, and the jacuzzi tub inside the room only elevated the experience even further. The lake is a short hop from your back door, just begging you to come out and sit on one of the many lawn chairs provided and take in the view or even go for a swim in the lake. It's also dog friendly and they accept dogs up to 35 pounds. Our bull terrier loved it there. And then there's the staff, they treated us so well. Their breakfast was soooo good! Jackie and her crew did such an excellent job of making us feel warm and welcomed the entire length of our stay. We'll definitely return again, and have talked about making annual visits there because it's just so great. It's worth it. read more

The good, the bad, and the downright awful: THE GOOD: Eric, the onsite manager, is basically the superhero we didn't know we needed. This guy was everywhere, doing everything. Cleaning rooms? Check. Checking us in? Check. Making sure we had what we needed? Check. Setting up for the event mostly single-handedly? Check. Seriously, thank you Eric! The location is great and the amenities are fun for all ages. THE BAD: Now, let's talk about the outdoor furniture. Imagine sitting on a plastic bench and thinking, "This looks a little rough, but surely it'll hold up." Wrong! It was like the furniture gave up on life. My elderly father, who's already not in the best health, sat on one of these plastic contraptions, and--surprise--it collapsed under him. To add insult to injury, it trapped my mom's leg. Ouch! Every piece of outdoor furniture looked rough. Tables splitting at the seams, table tops cracking--seriously, it's like the benches were begging to be put out of their misery. THE DOWNRIGHT AWFUL: And then, there's Hattie. Ah, Hattie--the new event coordinator, or as we called her, "The Queen of Chaos." Let me paint a picture: Hattie seemed to think "coordinating" meant lying to us, ignoring the contract, and treating my family like we were an inconvenience. Day 1: She was supposed to help Eric set up for the wedding. Instead, she showed up late, grabbed multiple plates of food (which we were cooking for ourselves, by the way), complained that we touched the event plates and then bailed. What a team player! Day 2: The day of the event. Buckle up, folks. Hattie showed up and locked the event space, so we couldn't finish setting up. Fun, right? We didn't get access to the room until an hour before family photos--just two hours before the event started. You'd think, since we booked the entire lodge for the weekend, we'd have access when we needed it. But nope, Hattie claimed she had to be there while we were in the room. And then--get this--she disappeared for HOURS. We later found out she was chasing down linen napkins and glassware...which they didn't have. When she finally resurfaced, it was with cheap paper napkins (not even Vanity Fair--c'mon!) and Solo cups. At least they were clear and not red, I guess? We rented linens, silverware, glassware, the works--but Hattie wasn't having it. The night before, she told us she was "withholding" the napkins and glassware because we had the audacity to touch the plates. Oh, and then she casually implied that because we were serving BBQ, the wedding was "low-brow," so paper napkins were fine. Classy, right? My favorite part? Watching her eat multiple plates of that BBQ while complaining because some of the guests asked for a pot of coffee. Because, you know, coffee at a wedding? Outrageous! She also told us that wasn't in the contract, but begrudgingly made a small pot. Cool. But the pièce de résistance? She let day users wander around the resort during the event. Yup, while we were trying to enjoy a wedding, random people in swimwear were strolling through. Nothing says "romantic ceremony" like a swim party. Final Thoughts: Hattie turned what should've been a lovely event into a stress-filled disaster. Had she just been upfront the night before, we could've worked around the missing linens and glassware. Instead, she ghosted half the time, dumped her responsibilities on the poor staff, and made rude comments to our guests. So, hats off to you, Hattie! You are truly the worst event coordinator I've ever encountered. I hope anyone reading this is prepared for the joyride of incompetence they might face if Hattie's running the show. read more

DNB (DO NOT BOOK):This was like stepping into the twilight zone. A nightmare from hell. We received a room that was uninhabitable. There was water over the floor from a leaky refrigerator, and a fireplace that didn't work. After informing the desk manager, he gave us towels so we could clean up the watery mess on the floor. Also, he said he didn't know how the fireplaced worked. Due to the deplorable state of the room, we couldn't stay at this place, and told the front desk manager to cancel our reservation. This in itself has been a disappointing task. Trying to get our reservation cancelled especially since we didn't stay there, has been an ordeal in and of itself. I wouldn't advise anyone to stay at this hell hole. It is truly a cryptic relic that should be demolished. Found this gem driving back to the Bay Area from Clear Lake. Brought my family up twice this summer since discovering. Shout out Erik, who runs the Lodge, and was able to host our party (9 adults, 8 kids, 2 dogs) on short notice (on a packed Labor Day weekend) and make it an enjoyable and memorable stay for our whole party, and Ryan who is super cool, and helps with fishing tips. What a wonderful, relaxed, 3 days we had here. Gorgeous lake, hills, and people. Special shout out to Erik who made our stay so special. The boating was delightful, the water clear and warm. ROOM NOT CLEAN! I left the room within 30 minutes of arriving. Just some of the things I found when I walked in: Hair on all of the pillows and mattress covered in hair, used tissue paper on the floor, bugs on the walls, spider webs in the corners of the room. Since new ownership, they have made NEW changes that now require minors to bring Photo ID which I believe is absolutely fucking ridiculous considering this requirement was not listed ANYWHERE on their site or any of their liability waivers (TRUST, I checked) . It took my family and I time out of our day to visit this lodge to celebrate my brother's birthday who could not get in with any of his friends as they were all 14 years old and of course, what fucking middle school kid thinks to bring their ID to a LAKE ???? Cherry on top, we had also seen a single family arrive right after us who were able to go into the establishment WITHOUT the front desk needing ID from the minor they brought with them. How ridiculous. Your front desk staff was extremely rude to my sibling before my arrival and was SO very unhelpful. The rooms were dingy. Layers of dust on everything, floor felt greasy. Water doesn't drain quick enough in shower and you are standing in water as you bathe. Not terrible (bad enough that I would stay somewhere else next time) until the electricity and water was cut off at night, due to scheduled maintenance. The cheat who manages the place ran away, nowhere to be found instead of telling guests about scheduled maintenance. Guests left to fend for themselves. I submitted a partial refund request since the property owner knowingly left guests at a property that had inadequate facilities. The property owner confirmed their bad intentions by refusing to respond to that request from Expedia though. However, I am sure they will claim innocence on a public forum seeing an unwanted review now. All the best to anyone that goes there knowingly. read more
