Quick and easy live scan services done here. My son's school requires all volunteers have a livescan done along with TB testing, proof of Covid vaccine. The list keeps growing, but it makes me feel safe as a parent. So I found myself here for a livescan on 8/19/21. No appointment necessary, just walk right in. However, they do shut down for the lunch hour. I came in around 10am and there was no line. The area is relatively small and clean. The staff are very Covid conscious and take all necessary precautions. They have plexiglass up and livescan is not done the way it was before with the staff pushing down on your fingers to get the right reading. Now it's up to us to get our fingers positioned correctly. The staff person is behind the plexiglass looking at their computer and will give us direction if our fingers aren't giving a good reading. My experience went a little like this: "Press a little hard with the pink" "Thumb is too light, spray some water and try again" I was done with the livescan in a jiffy. I had been dreading this class since I had a bad experience at my Baton Training. The last instructor Phil C was rude, condescending, passive aggressive and just flat out nasty so I had my reservations about today's pepper class/handcuffing class. As I wait anxiously to see who the instructor was, all kind of thoughts are going through my mind. As I wait, Marcus B walks in and I remember him from my guard card class. I remember Marcus as being entertaining but informative at the same time. As he does the class, he doesn't complains like Phil C. He actually gets to know us and makes the class very light hearted. The class is engaging, fun and knowledgeable. We start off with a PowerPoint, a class exercise, & two quizzes. We took two 15 minutes breaks. One part was about handcuffing and one part was about pepper spray. I learned so much ‼ It went by fast, everyone was happy and no one was made to be felt uncomfortable. Very opposite from my Baton Training class. I wish Marcus had of taught the Baton Training class but he explained thay you have to have a degree to teach it. I guess that's why Phil rude self is the only one to teach the Baton Training class. Everything went well and I was extremely thankful for him coming in. He gave us the maximum information and useful skills possible! First 4 classes we were learning the theory. Another 4 classes were real gym section! We were learning how to protect the life in a potential conflicts. Also, we were always reminded about our responsibilities and how we should act as a responsible workers and good persons as well. Quick, easy, and efficient! The gentleman who helped me was super personable and professional. I made a Live Scan appointment but didn't really need because they seem to use a "first come, first serve" approach. Arrived at 1pm, just as they were reopening from their lunch break. At that point, there were two people ahead of me. Since I needed them to print my form, another two people went and then it was my turn. They ended up SUPER busy, super quick-- but I wasn't in there much longer than 20 minutes. The live scan costed me $25, which is about $9 cheaper than many other place. In a nutshell, yes... I took the Baton Certification course on 11/11/2022. Very thorough course in terms of teaching the legalities and liabilities of using the baton, and then actual physical usage of the baton. The instructor was Phil Chachere. I have since spoken to other security guards at various businesses and they all know and have studied from Phil. He is a legend! He begins the lecture portion with his curriculum vitae, and it is very impressive. He's what I call the "30,000 hour guy". When you need a professional who knows what they are doing, you want the guy with the "time-in-job". Pilot, surgeon, etc, you want the 30,000 hour guy and Phil is that guy. I will be taking more courses from the Loss Prevention Group and from Phil specifically. Worth every penny. The more certifications I get, the more I can charge for being on certain posts, but most importantly, I want to be well trained and LPG is a great place for that. read more

One rule the Instructer gave use in this class was...."Don't be like Day Day" it was a hilarious reference and the clip highlights from various movies made the class even more exciting and interactive. After doing some research and checking the good reviews of this establishment on Yelp, I knew this was the prefect place to come and learn something new. I was happy I made it in the class considering the popularity of the "LPG" and the great value and package offers they have. I came here to take the "Guard Card" class, am I considering a career change? Yes or I may be just adding to my already vast life skills. It's good to have experience under your belt and for the $204 which was like almost $100 less for the same class at other locations, I highly recommend this place. Marcus was the instructer and he's a funny dude and made the class pretty fun and entertaining, but he made sure to answer questions we had and help us if we didn't understand something. He was the perfect teacher! The class included the live scan finger printing, certificate of compleation and the hands on training needed to help us in the field. I went to get my handcuff/ pepper spray training through LPG because the security company I am with likes sending us here. In the back of my mind I was thinking "they must be cheap sending us to Oakland all the way from Sonoma County", but man was I right (in a good way). The training is fantastic / and the prices are really acceptable. I had zero security guard experience going into this, besides a couple shifts at a homeless dining facility, so I was thrown to the wolves with no training. I was clueless so I asked the boss to get training and there I was.... Mark was my instructor. He is a professional with many years of experience at numerous LE agencies, as well as security companies. He had a good lecture, which was made enjoyable by his funny jokes and stories. There were ample breaks, and Great hands-on training too (safely done with masks and gloves during Covid-19). After I got my certificate Mark asked if anybody wanted to stay for a taser course. I was like hell yeah! And I got $20 off the full price. It sure beat having to schedule to go back when I could just knock it out in one day. That was great! After all that I asked how I could get my exposed firearm permit and just like that I was booked the following week for the training. I had a bad experience here. I was working on an application for a professional license from the State of California, and had difficulty getting prints earlier in the day at the UPS Store. The UPS Store employee was transparent with me and told me that she couldn't get good prints from me, perhaps because I wash my hands frequently. She sent me to this place, which had good reviews. I told the employee at The Loss Prevention Group about the issue, and he told me, "well, the UPS Store is good at sending packages, and this is what we do." With a boast like that, I expected that I was going to get good prints, but apparently not, because I received a notice from the Department of Justice several weeks later rejecting my application because of "poor quality prints." After receiving the notice from the Department of Justice, I went to a third vendor to submit my prints again, and they told me that the LiveScan machine tells the operator whether the print is good or not, so the employee at The Loss Prevention Group must have known that he was submitting bad prints for me. I went back to The Loss Prevention Group to try to get my money back and they refused, but offered to do my prints again. I declined because I didn't trust them to do a good job after my previous experience. I'm extremely annoyed by this because I'm unable to work without the professional license from the state. In addition to the money I lost from getting bad prints, I'm also losing weeks of work because of this ordeal. read more

Excellent experience from Start to Finish. I called 2 days in advanced to sign up for a Thursday guard card 8 hr training class, state application and live-scan all for $210 Like mentioned they are 1 block away from the 19th/Broadway exit from BART. You get inside the building and sign in at front lobby desk per the building security and then get on the elevator and head up to the 6th floor. You wait in the open classroom and you're gonna hear a semi quiet intercom asking " the next new client needs to come in the office directly across the hall and grab some paper work to fill out". You enter the office and the fingerprint tech excepts your payment, makes a copy of your DL and does both hands/fingers on the live-scan fingerprint station in under 2 minutes. He hands you a packet for you to fill out and once you hand it back in and he gives the OK, you head up to the 8th floor for the actual class. At 9am the Instructor Jeff Russo came in and he "broke the ice" right away and put the whole class at instant ease. He gave us a brief history of himself and his past and current work history. He did an amazing job showing us the "do's and dont's" of being future security guards. The first half of the class before our break at 11:45a went very quickly. He does a powerpoint presentation virtually the whole time and had a couple of funny clips from movies and real life more serious scenarios that were put on youtube. The only hard part to stay focused is the repeated presentation when the narrator on the screen was talking about WMD's ugghh(you'll see what im talking about)lol. After all is done he gives you a certificate of completion and you just have to anticipate that everything on your packet of info goes through smoothly with BSIS and you actually get your "Guard Card" in 15-20 business days. You card is good for 2 years. read more

Got a package deal of $370 to go through the guard course and the firearms course. Add in the $80 processing fee for firearms processing at the BSIS, we have a total of $450. Not bad, considering the quality instruction provided by Master Instructor, Marcus! He has a great depth and breadth of experiences in law enforcement, as a police officer and as an armed security guard. He's got an easygoing demeanor with a humorous streak. The restroom is ok but the dim lighting and cramped space leaves more to be desired. Marcus creates a very safe, professional atmosphere for students of all backgrounds and ages. read more

I was surprised at how many places did not offer ol' fashioned fingerprinting anymore, at least in the Peninsula and East Bay. I ended up at The Loss Prevention Group. A clean and tidy office. An ex-officer named Marc B. finger printed me. He was funny and had good stories from his days in with SFPD. The whole process took less than 15 minutes. He guaranteed the work if any complications arose (never know what can happen with ink these days). Final Call: Quick and pleasant experience so this is the place to handle such bio-ID affairs.
