Robin is the best $ I've ever spent. We did a 90 min 1 on 1 instruction. Quite possibly the best lesson in anything I've ever gotten. The improvement I made from the beginning to the end of the session was, frankly, unbelievable. I think I have a unique opinion with CWW classes as I have taken 4 within the last couple of years. That is another story though. However I would have to rate this class vs the others. I think that is the only fair way to do it. If you are the type who enjoys sitting through Traffic School, this is the CCW class for you. This class had the least amount of range time of all the classes I attended. 3/4 of the time you are sitting listening to Robin. That's one star gone from the 5-stars. The moment you hit the range the first thing you do is qualify. This is the exact opposite of all the other classes I attended where they make a good effort to help you pass the qualification by giving you the basics and a little more to up your chances of passing the qualification. Hence you chances of passing qualification, if you hardly know how to shot aren't very good. That's another star gone. I can only assume he does this so you will book more time with him to make sure you pass your next try at qualifying. This is another $100 at least on top of the already epic price of $400 for this class. Why do I say this? Because there is a practice test before the actual written test which ups your chances of passing the actual test significantly, but zero training before the practical shooting qualification? One of my classmates was struggling with the qualification and he didn't help him at all besides give him another try at it. All the techniques he needed to pass were given to the whole class after failing the qualification twice. Not cool. I did learn a few new things from this class. For those couple of things Robin gets 2-stars. read more

Although he is geared toward novice to intermediate shooters, there is value in his classes for all levels of shooters, so long as those shooters come in with a learner's attitude. I found Robin's teaching style on day 2 of the CA CCW course to be clear, relatable, and understandable. It was evident that he had a lot of ground to cover in the 8 hours provided, but it never felt like we were cramming to be able to check the box, as it were. Moreover, Robin appears to care deeply about sharing knowledge with quality instruction rather than just churning out CCW certs and collecting tuition, as made evident by the copious amounts of extras he provides to the students above and beyond the bare bones basics as required by CA DOJ. Just recently completed my 8 hour recertification for CCW @ Gunkraft / San Leandro gun range. We had maybe 3 or more different counties represented by 9 students. The class lecture is very informative and really makes you realize the importance of and seriousness of "signing up " for a CCW. So many categories are covered, from insurance, to the aftermaths of defending yourself with a gun, mental awareness, psychological awareness, first aid , 3 basic requirements needed to justify legal self defense with a gun, and so much more. Being able to eat lunch in the class is a plus. Every student was given a snazzy GunKraft baseball cap. The actual range qualifications went off without a hitch even with multiple counties and their corresponding requirements and also, most students having more than one gun on their card, having to qualify with each gun. I can't stress how important safely handling a hand gun is. It does you no good to get "qualified" to hit a target if you don't know how to handle the weapon from holster to target safely.
