Just completed a three night stay with myself, a friend and my three children. I am shocked at all…read morethe bad reviews after staying there but realize several are minor things people are complaining about. Check in was seamless and the front desk worker was able to get us two rooms only a few doors from each other. We ate at the landshark night one and it was empty. It was good for a convenient meal night one. We were pains with the valet managing two cars and stuff in both but they were patient and kind with all of our needs. The kids did the pool every night and had a blast. Yes, there is a lot of chlorine in the pool but I understand why. The kids loved checking out the turtles everyone we walked by. Minor inconveniences/issues: The Cafe is only open until 5 or 6pm on weekends days which is fine, but unless you go to a bar there's no vending machines I could find for late night drinks or snacks. Going to the bar for a soda might be triggering to someone sober. Vending machines might be a nice addition. The room wasn't filthy but the couch had stains (presumably from pets but who knows). I understand they only have so much time to flip a room. The TV in the bedroom didn't work. I didn't complain or mention to the front desk as it didn't seem like a huge deal since there's another TV in the living room. I wasn't hugely fond of the curtains for the window facing the hallway inside the building. It isn't completely blackout so there is light from the hallway at all times. It also felt like people could see in and as a female alone with 3 kids that was a little worrisome. Thankfully we were at the end of the hall. Overall, would stay again.

Harrah's is across the street and Caesars Republic is catty-corner, making it easy to walk around and enjoy the area. The resort is in a great central location. We walked to restaurants, shops, and even down toward the lake. If you walk straight down, you'll reach the private beach, just keep in mind there's about a $30 entrance fee. The breakfast buffet is a flat $25 per person. It wasn't really worth it for us since we're not big breakfast people. Instead, we grabbed coffee and breakfast sandwiches/burritos from Joe's Merchant in the lobby for around $10-$15. Valet is $40 a day, but parking can be tough to find, so it was worth it for us. Overall, great location, easy to get around on foot, and a place we'd stay at again.

I have stayed here several times and would return again. I made some observations about the…read moreproperty and I will share them. It is not like a traditional hotel. No room service, no daily maid service. Limited flexibility if for some reason there is a need to change rooms. I was informed that it was due in part to folks reserving the time share rooms. Valet parking can be slow if it is a busy time period. Pretty on par with many properties. People do smoke outside in the courtyard/by the gondolas and if your room is above you will get a bit smoked out. I noted that the property is right on highway 50 so there is quite a bit of through traffic; bicycle, vehicle and pedestrian. The rooms were clean and if one gets the full suite (kitchen, living and dining area) very spacious. Close to shops and restaurants all within walking distance. Overall, a nice place to stay. Just be aware that it is not (by design) a traditional hotel as I mentioned.

The biggest positive about Marriott's Timber Lodge is the location. It's close to everything,…read moreincluding Heavenly Village, restaurants, shops, and the gondola, which makes it incredibly convenient and walkable. We typically stay at Edgewood when visiting South Lake Tahoe, but decided to try something different this time. Unfortunately, the stay got off to a rough start. We arrived around noon on Friday and were told our room was ready, even though official check-in is at 4 PM. When we went up, housekeeping was still cleaning and informed us it would be another 30 minutes. Later, the manager called to apologize and explained that we had been given the wrong room number. He asked for permission to have staff move our belongings to the correct room. While the apology was appreciated, it wasn't a great first impression and set the tone for the rest of the stay. There is no room service, despite having an onsite restaurant (Fire + Ice), which was disappointing after a long travel day. I also asked the front desk if they had honey so I could make green tea in our room and was told they didn't. For a Marriott property, that felt surprising and oddly basic. Housekeeping is not provided daily. There was no one to make the bed or tidy up during our stay. While we were told we could call if we needed anything, it still felt like a noticeable downgrade in service for a hotel at this price point. We stayed from Friday to Sunday, and the only complimentary item offered was a single homemade cookie, handed out individually. On Saturday, hot chocolate was available, but it was $5 per cup. Charging for hot water, cocoa powder, and a few marshmallows felt nickel-and-dimey, especially at a resort-style hotel. The biggest frustration, however, was the constant timeshare solicitation. Immediately after checking in, we were approached at the concierge desk and pitched a "promotion." We declined. Later that same day, we were approached again and declined once more. Then on Saturday evening at 7 PM, my personal cell phone rang with caller ID showing Marriott. It was the same person calling yet again to pitch the timeshare. While a gift card was offered, not everyone is interested in $200. Our vacation time is more valuable than sitting through a 90-minute sales presentation. After declining multiple times, the continued follow-up felt unprofessional. A clear "no" should be noted and respected. The room itself was nice. We stayed in a one-bedroom villa with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, living area, and a separate bedroom and bathroom. The layout was functional for families, with two TVs and a sofa bed in the living room. However, the sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable and made sleeping difficult, especially after long days out. There was a simple welcome note in the room, but no other welcome amenity. We weren't expecting much, just a small thoughtful touch. The property does offer an outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi, open from 8 AM to 10 PM, which is a nice amenity for families and for unwinding after a day out. Checkout is at 10 AM, which feels early. Many comparable hotels offer at least an 11 AM checkout. In our case, by Sunday morning we were so eager to leave due to the overall experience that we checked out at 8:00 AM. We genuinely couldn't wait to go. Overall, while the location and room layout are strong, the lack of basic hospitality, repeated sales pressure, limited housekeeping, and early missteps made this stay feel more transactional than relaxing. For the price and the Marriott name, I expected a far more polished experience. We would not choose to stay here again.

Sadly, we joined when it was the Ridge Tahoe by interval International and since Holiday Inn took it over, it is like being in a Third World hotel. The only and I mean, the only plus is the location. Other than that, they rank below average. Everything is so old and tired. Even though they said they refurnished it looks like they bought it from a secondhand store. What a shame. While it operates as…read morea vacation club, it's owned by IHG and rooms can often be rented just like a traditional hotel, which makes it surprisingly accessible. The property has plenty to keep guests entertained -- daily activities, pools, saunas, bars, a small market, and an on-site restaurant -- so you rarely feel the need to leave unless you're heading out to ski or explore. I've stayed here three times, in both the Tower and Nagle buildings, and the views alone make every visit worthwhile. The location is absolutely five-star, especially for winter trips focused on skiing. Many of the units are more like condos than hotel rooms, with full kitchens, living areas, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, and thoughtful extras like jetted tubs, gas fireplaces, laundry rooms, and balconies. Ski lockers conveniently located in the halls are another nice touch. Decor varies depending on the building and unit -- some feel more updated than others -- but all have character and have consistently been well stocked with useful amenities like humidifiers, fans, and reliable coffee makers. Parking is easy and plentiful, with both underground and outdoor options across the property. My favorite feature, hands down, is the Skier Express -- a mechanical bubble shuttle that connects the resort directly to the Stagecoach lift. When it's running, it's an amazing perk, though it seems to be operational only about half the time, which can be frustrating. There's also a traditional shuttle that loops to the base lodges. It can take a bit longer due to the one-way main road, but it's still a solid option for getting around. On my most recent visit, the management team really stood out. Communication before arrival was excellent, and I was celebrating a milestone birthday -- they made the stay feel extra special with genuine kindness and attention. I'm honestly not sure where some of the lower reviews come from, but if they help keep this place under the radar, I guess that's the silver lining. For me, Tahoe Ridge has become my go-to stay in the area and the only place I consistently choose when visiting.

I checked in with Courtney , who was just the best front desk hostess I've EVER come across. When I went back to get my car after check in and watching the amazing sunset, she saw me and asked if I'd like her help bringing my stuff in. I have NEVER felt so taken care of! Your car is left with valet and the valet (Corey) brought all my things up to the room for me. Um wow! Then my door wouldn't open with the room key and Irma, a spectacularly on it supervisor, just happen to be walking by, let me into my room and went to have my keys fixed. I mean, I felt as though I was somehow apart of this amazing family. What remarkable staff!! So I was a little concerned when I got a 2nd floor room as I am a very light sleeper. Not only did I not hear any of my neighbors above or below me but I never heard doors closing which is very common in hotels. Not the case here. It was the best rest without ear plugs I've had in several months of travel. The body gel, shampoo and conditioner is the best one out of all the hotels I've stayed. There is only 1 other Hilton that uses this same brand and I was so pleased when I saw they use this one here. The water is immediately hot with good pressure and the towels were really soft and just clean not like they'd been bleached and smelled of it. Nate, at the concierge desk, was fantastic at guiding me on places around Lake Tahoe to go check out. His map of spots was invaluable and exactly as he guided me on how to get there and best times to visit. See my Emerald Lake shot. If you're planning to come stay in Lake Tahoe for skiing or summer activities or just to relax, this is the perfect place to stay. It's within walking/free bus riding distance of so many different things and they will make you feel like family. Just bring your toothbrush and if you forgot that, they've got that covered for you here too! Use the Hilton app to book your visit. It's worth the ease and you might save a few bucks.

The fridge gets really cold so just watch out your stuff on the top rack may freeze a bit. The room came with a nice tub which I used every night to relax my body. The heater they have in this room works really well and kept me and my doggies warm throughout the day and night. They come and clean your room everyday so this is a major reason why they request for your dogs to be well behaved. I'm coming back here again I hope in the summer.
