Came here on a Thursday at noon with coworkers. Very spacious but hard to get the servers' attention most of the time. I got the lamb briyani but it was all above my spice level. in case anyone wants to know...   Monday - Dosas on special $8 or $10 depending on type Tuesday - reg Menu Wednesday - Curry Specials with Chipati and Rice Thursday - Biryani specials (first 4 items on that section is $10) Saturday/Sunday Buffet - $18/$20 unlimited Dosa, Idly, and Parantha

I had my family visiting from India and were homesick so I took them to my favourite South Indian restaurant. We got the usual dosas but also got their mirchi filling! Always a fan favourite :)

Madras Diaries has some great tasting dosa generously stuffed full of the filling your choice. The curries are rich and flavorful and spicy. Service is friendly and welcoming. Monday has dosa and briyanni on special

Unfortunately, the menu doesn't have side dishes, so I ended up ordering the lemongrass vermicelli along with a guava juice instead. The guava juice was a bit of a surprise--not quite the freshly made tropical drink I had imagined. It turned out to be the same bottled guava juice you can easily find at the grocery store, just served in a glass and at restaurant prices. Then my lemongrass vermicelli arrived, and the server warned me to be careful because it was very hot. That definitely caught me off guard! When I think of vermicelli bowls, I picture cool noodles, crisp vegetables, fragrant herbs, and a refreshing meal perfect for a sunny day. This version was served piping hot, making it feel more comforting than refreshing. That said, the dish was still packed with flavour. The fragrant lemongrass aroma filled the bowl, the vegetables added plenty of texture, and the savoury components came together nicely. It just wasn't the light, cooling meal I had originally set my heart on when I walked in, dreaming about mango salad on a warm day.

I tried fried oyster mushrooms they were delicious and went well with all the side garnishing. The black garlic eggplant is something new to try and went with rice and salad. Will-definitely go back and highly recommend this place!

I like Torafuku's rendition of the prawn toast that i grew up with. The toasts were done perfectly golden. The bread pieces were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. There were chunkful of prawns in every bite. Personally, I wish the prawn filling were a bit more springy. We both loved the chicken and cracked rice. The fried chicken pieces were well balanced with seasoning and tender. I was also very happy with the broken rice used in the dish. There is more surface area with broken rice to pick up the flavours in the seasoning. I hope the soon-to-be-opend new hospital nearby will help revitalize the neighbourhood.

Unreal. We think the vegetables could have been roasted a bit longer for optimal chewiness but they were still divine--especially the way the dressing clung to the brassicas florets. As a kale lover, I would take much more kale, but that's just personal preference, not any denigration of the dish (more kale would make it more of a salad and less of a share plate). The service was friendly and the space had a peaceful minimalist appeal. I imagine other dishes are wonderful too, but it'd be hard not to repeat the salad over and over. We're from out of town but if and when we return to Vancouver, this will definitely be on the itinerary.

It somehow manages to taste more complex than other pho places I've been to. It's not oily or too salty. Noodles were cooked just right and not too soft. I did ask for the spice level to be mild so not sure if that affected the broth taste. The broth was ok but glad it was not overly salty or oily and a good amount of the thick rice noodle. I'd probably try again but ask for the full spice instead of mild spiciness. My friends had the Shrimp Salad Roll, Salt & Pepper Calamari, Lemongrass Beef & Spring Roll with Vermicelli and Lemongrass Chicken & Pork grilled. They all enjoyed but the grilled lemongrass chicken & pork was the best in taste, value and portion size. Interior is clean and updated. Metered parking out front but free parking on the side streets. Staff were friendly and service was prompt. It opens till 10pm so nice to have another place on Cambie Street for a later evening meal.

I hadn't been back in a long time, so I decided to stop by last Saturday. The first thing I noticed was how clean and organized the restaurant is. They have a self-serve station stocked with water, utensils, napkins, and takeout containers. This is such a thoughtful touch and makes it so convenient. I ordered the Namaste Fresh Rolls, and they were absolutely incredible. There were fresh, and the peanut sauce was perfect. Honestly, I could have eaten several of them! I also had the Rickshaw Bowl, which was packed with flavour. To drink, I tried their signature coconut shake, and as someone who's a sucker for anything coconut, it did not disappoint. Before leaving, I also picked up a pint of their Vietnamese Coffee ice cream (still in my freezer)! If you're a peanut butter lover, you have to get their dark chocolate peanut butter. It was amazing! I enjoyed last Saturday so much that I came back the next day for dinner. This time I ordered their famous Golden Temple Soup with noodles and organic tofu, along with the Sunrise Fresh Rolls. The soup lived up to the hype. The curry broth was rich, comforting, and full of flavour. The noodles had the perfect texture and the organic tofu was excellent. And once again, their fresh rolls were fantastic! Before I left, I had the chance to chat with the owner, who was incredibly kind and friendly. She shared a little about the business, and it was clear how much care and passion goes into the restaurant. I genuinely wish them continued success.

During my first visit I ordered the monthly special, which was a Burmese burger with mala spiced fries . After reading some reviews on yelp I came back a second time and ordered what seemed to be a local favorite which were the salted egg yolk chicken wings, which were honestly to die for especially with the chili crisp sauce . New favorite dish alert !!!!! Super crispy , salty , flaky and unique chicken wings . First time I ever tried salted egg anything despite seeing it as an option a few times in the past at Chinese restaurants in San Francisco, as well as in Singapore. I'm grateful that this place put "salted egg "on my radar. I've since had several dreams about those chicken wings and was a little sad two weeks later that the place was remodeling. Valentine's Day dinner…read more location: PidGin food/drink: price: $$$$ review: This was the dinner I was looking forward the most to for my weekend trip in Vancouver. I had a great feeling about their customer service as I was in touch with Silvia via email about the delayed publishing of the set menu for Valentines Day. With the great ratings and look over the menu (especially vegetarian menu for my friend), we decided to book and pay for the meal in advance (deposit). I've never had a 6-course type meal and was looking forward to the nice treat, but my hopes must have been set too high. Overall, the plates were small and underwhelming. There was always one component of each dish that was unsatisfying. From the creamy yet acidic sauce that came with the ravioli, glorified avocado toast, or just a head of cabbage., my vegetarian friend didn't get the sustenance or value in her meal. For me, the duck and beef tartare were the best bites. We both liked the hojicha tiramisu, which we got packaged to go. It was a long service, almost 2.5 hrs, when we began at 8:45pm. The waitress kept it real with us, asking for our feedback, which led her to bring out a more classic dish that the restaurant offers for my friend to supplement her meal. It was okay, but not memorable or making up for the rest of the night. Maybe the menu was rushed, but the ingredients made us excited just for us to leave thinking we definitely could have had a better meal (and for cheaper) elsewhere.
