    Char Kway Teow
    Christopher N.

Great food, they don't scrimp on the ingredients here. We didn't quite like the change to a self-service lunch counter style, but we understand they had to make a change. Our choices today were Char Kway Teow, salted egg yolk popcorn chicken, sambal eggplants fish sauce chicken wings, and roti canon. Food was awesome, service was great, and everyone was happy with lunch.

Food here is fantastic! The whole family loved it! Will be back on our next trip to Vancouver. Everything is so flavorful. Esp loved the Brussels sprouts and the star dish - Char Kway Teow!

Cute little restaurant in Cambie. The place is small, good for 2-4 people max, but has a steady stream of customers doing take-out and dine in. If you really want to eat here, make a reservation. Parking is metered but there are some free on the side streets. Service is polite, fast, and friendly. The menu is inspired by nostalgic asian dishes around the world. I call it comfort food. As others have mentioned, it is on the higher price, and the food isn't a lot, but it does taste great. The appetizer chicken wings was $16 for 4 pieces, but the batter was light and crispy. The crispy pata was $32, it wasn't big but enough for 2 people. Saying this, it was delicious. I don't think I can go to this place everyday, but once in a while. I thought the different sauces on the shelf was a cute touch.

Visiting friends in Canada they really recommended this place, so had to try. Entering the restaurant it looks a bit like a fast food place but it is anything but fast food! Ordered way too much for just 3 people but that's the Asian way! Tried the Calamari, roti, salty egg chicken wings, eggplant, tom yum fried rice, and the crispy pata. Everything was delicious. I especially loved the crispy pata. The meat was moist and the skin nice and crispy. If i had to pick my least fave it would probably be the calamari. Maybe because it wasn't what i was expecting. It was large pieces of squid and the batter was a little heavy for me. Other than that i'm still dreaming about my meal here and can't wait to come back to Vancouver to eat here again.

    Kaya Toast (?)

Came here as a group of 4, and we managed to get one of the outdoor table. I'm not that hungry so decided to get snack instead, I ordered Kaya Toast. Order arrived after we waited for 20-25 min. Not gonna lie, I was very disappointed with the kaya toast. This is not a toast at all, it's a fried bun (mantau) with kaya on the side. The Kaya spread is also a bit too thin. I mean kinda my fault for not reading the description too, so I'll give the one star back. Traditionally kaya toast is kaya spread and butter sandwiched between two toast. There is neither "sandwich" nor butter in their version of kaya toast. Mantau bread is far too dense compared to regular bread as it's steamed. Weird take on kaya toast. Service was great tho, our server was nice and attentive.

Decent but overpriced SE Asian place along Cambie. Parking is available on the side streets. The place does have that nice hawker cafeteria theme going. Staff were friendly and helpful. Laksa - served with soft boiled egg and some leaves, prawns, and puffy tofu. Soup was decent. Pad Thai - sweet and filled with crushed peanuts. Served with lime slice. Food was tasty but way overpriced. The food is probably 20-30% smaller than similar places, for a few dollars more. My buddy and I left hungry. Honestly the items are kid sized. Knock 1 star off. For this reason I am hesitant to return.

    Pink Scallops

Bright inviting space to gather with company while enjoying eats. Service is non intrusive, no real concerns but no actual praises either. Pink Scallops - this was one of their special menu items. Broth was fragrant & light. I'm not sure it's worth the price thought. A lot of empty shells that looked strategically placed just for aesthetics. No, I did not find my missing scallops at the bottom of the bowl. Scallops that were there grew on me as I got deeper into the dish. On first tastes, I thought they were clams which threw me a bit. Quite the miss for me as for that price point, I expected the actual scallops to shine, not the shells. Roti Canai - these were ok. Not exceptional but not horrible either. Granted it's hard to recreate the taste profile you remember from the place of origin. Mama Cheung's Laksa - this was my dates pick. He didn't have any complaints just that it was pricy for what it was. Though, seems everything is priced exorbitantly these days.

    Shaker fries with salty egg

Small joint serving SE Asian street style food. Must be good when there is a line and place is packed. Friendly service staff so expectations were high. We were seated according to our reserved time and right off the bat, we were told the lunch crowd took a lot of items off the menu. No big deal, plenty others to try. On to the food The good - char guai tew - traditional noodle dish. Tasty and has a bit of a kick. Excellent - salty egg fried chicken - anything with salty egg yolk is good! A tad gimmicky but it was a little different than the rest The mediocre - pad Thai - nothing special - black pepper fish - a bit too saucy The bad - shaker fries - soggy and paid extra for salty egg flavor. Not worth it Good food but not better than Singapore hawker.

First off, very cute restaurant on Cambie St. Nice and aesthetic. But the food is just mediocre, the prices are high and the overall experience was just alright... Made a reservation for 4 for lunch very easily online. Got seated right away. We got a few things to share. Salted egg yolk chicken wings - $16 - honestly delicious. Very crispy and hot with great salted egg yolk taste. Only came with 4. My favorite item. Laksa - $19 - not worth it because the bowl is quite shallow. Mix noodles, coconut lemongrass broth with prawns, fish cake, tofu puff, egg & bean sprouts. Overall taste is good though. Green papaya salad - $14 - hard pass. No flavor. Small plate. Shredded veggies. The raw green beans were so unappetizing. Char kway teow - $19 - the other acceptable dish. Wok fried fresh rice sheets with prawns, fish cake, chinese sausage, egg & bean sprouts with sambal and house soy blend. Good wok hay but small portion. Drinks were fine (milo and Thai iced tea) but also pricy at $6.

    Chili pan mee

A nice place to get a quick lunch. I got the chili pan mee, which seemed came in a nice portion and 4/5 spice level (perfect!). Soft boiled egg was a nice touch. Authenticity was meh, I felt it was more fusion-tasting... but it was still tasty! Service is prompt and attentive. Ambiance is casual and chic.

    Andrea M.

Service was fast and staff were friendly. Ambiance and atmosphere was colourful. However, there was limited seating and it wasn't the coziest in my opinion. Presentation was not the greatest, but the food was delicious. We were a bit disappointed in portion size in comparison to the price vs other restaurants in the neighbourhood. We also tried the Thai milk tea which was amazing!

Potluck Hawker Eatery is one of the few Pan-Asian restaurants participating in DOVF this year. They locate in Cambie Village in Vancouver. They have designed a special DOVF $29 lunch menu and a $39 dinner menu for the diners. You can taste a unique fusion of flavours and ingredients from their dishes. We ordered the $29 DOVF menu for two people, including: APPETIZER: - Curried Beef Roti Puff - Potluck Chicken Wings MAIN: - Mama Cheung's Laksa - Salted Egg Fried Chicken Sando DRINK: - Thai Ice Tea - Milo Dinosaur You can pay extra to build your customized DOVF dishes. Overall, the food was delicious and sweet. They mixed with Malaysian, Singaporean, and Filipino flavours. It was a delightful experience to try their menu. We would go back to try different dishes in their regular portion sizes. Food: 3/5 Can Try! Service: ‍‍‍‍4/5 Kids: 2/5 Meh. Limited seating available Price: $29 DOVF (lunch) Presentation: 1/5 Parking: Paid Street Parking but free parking in the neighbourhood Tips: * have fun and colourful decor, which creates the perfect ambiance of South Asian decor. * can make a table reservation easily through its website. * have outdoor seating options. Would I Return: Yes ‍

Cute Singaporean restaurant in Vancouver! I had the Char Kwai Teow and it was delicious. It's like a beef chow fun or pad see ewe with slightly different toppings, like fish tofu and Chinese sausage. The service is fast and friendly, definitely a great spot for lunch or dinner!

We were able to grab a table for 2 around 8pm, which is great given how busy this place usually is. We ordered the following: Chicken Skewers: Decently grilled with a the meat juicy and tender meat. The nice peanut sauce hit the spot! Seafood laksa: Full of deep rich flavours, this also really hit the spot especially on a cold and rainy night. The mix noodles had a nice chew and there were lots of tofu, seafood, and a full boiled egg (cut in half). Definitely a solid bowl of laksa! Fried Noodles: A great comfort dish. The noodles were springy and well-seasoned, with plenty of toppings mixed in. Not greasy, which I really appreciated, and the portion was generous. Roti: Comes with a thin curry sauce and served with sugar on the side. The roti is super buttery, soft, and flakey. One of the best roti's in the city!
