You meet some of the most amazing people from all over DFW and it is good to know that one great cause has brought together such a diverse group of people. There are usually things going on throughout the year depending on your committee but the real fun starts about May when volunteer orientations have taken place and you narrow down where you would like to help, be it marketing, operations, merchandise etc. I highly recommend Texas Stampede to those who want to give their time. There is something for everyone, weather you have days and nights to give or just a couple of hours. The rodeo takes place in November and is held at the American Airlines Center. A bridge ID will be provided for service coordination. It is extremely hard to get anyone on the phone for information and mailbox is usually full. There is a curfew time and meal setup is unclear. There is a donation box I utilize frequently in the staff parking lot . The homeless epidemic is growing at an alarming rate and The Bridge is playing a vital and essential role towards helping individuals in Dallas.

It also allows those more fortunate a chance to "give back." The area of care I'm most familiar with is the meal service having volunteered there a few times. What I like about the program is that, in addition to feeding them, individuals are subject to a number of requirements. For instance, IDs are required for admittance. No food is allowed to leave the dining room, and so forth. Meal times are strictly enforced. And they serve three meals a day every day of the year. I've only worked on the serving line for supper a few times. The meals, though institutional, seem well balanced and nourishing. Volunteers are not allowed to sample the food. And speaking of volunteers, there's a continuing need which is filled by church groups, civic groups, school clubs and individuals. The evening meal, for instance, requires 8 - 10 volunteers and takes about an hour and a half of a persons time. Fenced parking is available. In a time of social and political polarization it is heartwarming to see folks of different backgrounds come together for the good of others.

Maybe…read morefirst by stating how Pollo and Polla, along with their children, have such a heart and passion for creating a movement that spreads love, joy and happiness to those in the DFW area who probably receive it the least...teachers and first responders. They are so dedicated on letting these individuals know how important they are and how much they matter and are valued. This motivation and excitement is passed to volunteers, who meet once a month to put together thank you packages that get distributed to Dallas and surrounding cities, to schools and police departments/fire stations, etc. These packages usually have cookies, coffee (with sugar and creamer packets) and a handwritten thank you note that each volunteer does. What I think is also fantastic and helps set Love in Motion apart from other organizations is that it is something that can be done with children. It is a great way to involve them. We go as a family. It last for maybe an hour, sometimes a little longer but the time flies by because everyone is just enjoying themselves. Then, you feel really good about how you just contributed to something so wonderful. I would definitely encourage people to get involved with this movement. Gather your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, whoever and participate in something special with people who are determined to make a difference. Do good. Feel good.

Organized in 1868 and the first building on this was was a one-room frame structure, which members financed by weaving rugs, making hominy, preserves, and cheese to sell at fairs near Dallas, then a frontier town of 2500. Section of Victorian-style, red brick building was erected 1890; is only downtown Dallas church still on original site. George W. Truett, noted minister, was mastor here 47 years and was succeeded by W.A. Criswell, 1944." It is beyond an impressive structure and worth a visit, regardless of your support of the church.
