This was so much fun! This was my first time watching a magic show and it didn't disappoint. It's a fun, interactive show. He makes a point about saying that he won't make you look stupid or make fun of you, if you volunteer, and he doesn't. They have some more classical magic tricks and some more numbers oriented. But it's all quite fun. For some of them, we were really scratching our heads and thinking how did they do that!?? I would say don't try to work it out... and you won't lose out on the magic :-) The area they do the show is wide rather than deep, so if you are in the center, you'd have very good seats. I wasn't quite sure about how it would look from the ends. We weren't quite sure how the seats were assigned, but it seems to us they were set in advance. They give you pretty decent popcorn and even brought us a refill cuz we liked it and ate it all! Drinks etc are pricey as you would expect. They tell you that they will only take your order for the full show at the start but we saw them taking orders during a break. Our server was very nice and polite! As a surprise date night, my husband got us tickets 2 months in advance. My husband loves magic, so I had actually looked into getting tickets for his birthday in the summer, but they were sold out for a while. The show took place in the fotografiska museum, so if you have the time to come early to check out the museum before the show or stay after to check out the museum, you should. It's filled with photography and artwork that's worth checking out while you are there because tickets to this show are pricey $$$. Not knowing where we were going, I was told we had to be there at 6 for a 6:30 show and they don't allow late arrivals. We ended up sitting in the front, though we had tickets for the back row. Seems like this was deliberate by the show when they choose who goes up to stage and is planned ahead of time. I was given a key by the magician at the beginning of the show, which later comes to play at the end of the show. He seemed like a lively individual that was invested in engaging the audience. It also made me sit and think about life and how amazing it must be for some people whose professions are things they actually enjoy. The audience was really into the show. When you sit down they have cards that come into play later in the show, truffle popcorn (killer amount of salt), and some water. You can order food/drinks off of a limited menu. The card trick done with the whole audience did not work out for me, but another image guessing one did. I liked when he wove in personal stories into the show like how he got into magic, (don't know if true or a story to tie to the act) story about losing $100 and would have liked to hear more. I was asked to give the key to box back at the end and read a letter with our names in it at and I got to keep the letter I read as a memory of the show, which was cool. I would have liked to see a little bit less of the card tricks and had them replaced with other magic tricks, maybe levitation. It's always a good thing when you leave wondering how he did some of the tricks. Attended The Magician's online show last weekend all the way from California and had a great experience. Dan White did a great job making sure everything went smoothly from the time of ordering tickets, to getting mystery boxes shipped out to attendees, to making sure everyone could access the latest version of Zoom. He even asked everyone to dress up... so we could feel like we were actually going out to a live show, and also to be seen on camera (though muted unless participating). I've been to many magic shows in person, and I can say it was definitely missing some of kind of tricks that can only be done live and in person, those with bigger props and audience members coming on stage. But Dan White did a great job getting audience participation, even with this online version. He did a combination of illusions, mind reading, sleight of hand, and an unexpected surprise at the end... he would pick on different partipants for some tricks, and others he would have everyone participate. There's a number of cool things in the mystery box (and bag) that he mails out a week before the show, but cannot open till instructed during the show. A couple of his tricks I've seen other magicians do, but most were new to me and had me amazed, and the way he kept the audience engaged kept it fun... with a few laughs throughout the hour and a half show. It's definitely a great date night activity (especially if you are worried about interacting in person during COVID), you can eat and drink whatever during the show since you're at home (sober or not), and because he has everyone dress up, it's a good set up for going out afterward (if you are vaccinated and have events/venues with great nightlife in your city). That's what my partner and I did, which made for a great Saturday night. I especially think The Magician deserves 5 stars because although it's not super original and out of this world, it's absolutely great value (if more than one person)... you pay one price and can have up to four attendees. And though I saw mostly adults in the show I attended, it's appropriate for all ages, so also a great option for enjoying something different with family. read more

Definitely a fan of The Magician, but was it worth the hype, the price of a pair of tickets, or the anxiety that comes with trying to get my hands on a pair of 'em? Absolutely. The show was whimsy, had a loose storyline, and it got us hooked. And without spoiling too much - every time we thought we've seen a trick done before, Dan White (the Magician) kicks it up a notch and we were left with our mouths hanging wide open. There were a few things that could be improved on though (i.e., having to order all of your food + drinks prior to the show starting and the staff acting as though they're part of the crowd by loudly cheering and clapping in the back during the show), but I had so much fun that these things are really just insignificant nuisances! Speaking of attending a virtual magic show may sound so silly to say out loud- a few of my friends even laughed at me! I never expected a virtual event to be so engaging, but it really was. Dan White is an incredible performer and whether you're into street magic or not, he executes a fine show. What's great is that we didn't have to fly all the way out to New York, mask up, or bear the winter cold... He 's more of bad Broadway show than a magic show, but must admit very likeable. Many of his tricks are statistical math tricks which many of you might be familiar with. The show is drawn out with a a lot of talk and theatrics. Some of the tricks are set up while all are out during intermission and got held up when time to leave the room as they stated "they needed to time to clear the hallways"; was pretty clear entering, and during intermission though. The price tag is high, but this is undoubtedly one of the coolest experiences that you can have in NYC. Let's see how much I can explain without giving too much away. Why this was great: -Mind blowing card tricks and visuals that will have your jaw dropping the entire time. I easily lose interest in things, and I was laser focused for the full two hour duration of the show. It's just absolutely captivating. -Dan, the magician is extremely charismatic and charming. He made funny jokes throughout the show and made it a really wonderful experience. He even hangs back to greet fans at the end of the show! -The show is intimate (probably around 70 people) and there is lots of audience participation mixed in throughout the show. I loved how interactive it was! -The space at the Nomad is dimly lit, swanky and the perfect backdrop for the show. Drinks are pricey, but given the setting and price of show tickets this was not surprising. You are also served complimentary chicken flavored popcorn, and the service is really great. Because tickets are a little pricey, I'd say this is the perfect pick if you are looking to buy someone a gift for a special occasion and want to impress. Especially if you have someone in your life that is hard to shop for, and really values cool experiences over material things. A fun-for-all-ages magic show this is most certainly not (I wouldn't have attended if it were!) What this is is an 18 & over event with nearly-impossible-to-get tickets. The Magician, Dan White, performs in an intimate room that seats about 75 in the well-appointed Nomad Hotel. Gorgeous, pricey drinks are on the menu, complimentary fancy popcorn is served (truffle & chicken for the first act; milk & honey for the second.) Dan's tricks & illusions are incredible, many of them requiring audience participation. Dan talked us through a particular trick, which made us feel we, too, were capable of creating magic. His charm, humor, & delivery sets him apart from other magicians; he's relatable & likable, & that made my party of four agree -- we'd pay to see him perform again. An Amazing Evening at Home with The Magician Online - Dan White Magic, mentalism, illusion, and deception. These were highlights of an evening of magic by The Magician, Dan White, and all presented to us in our living room through Zoom online. And the show was phenomenal! We ordered our tickets about a month ago. We received a FedEx package this week and were instructed not to open it until show time. What a mystery! You need a computer with a monitor, camera and microphone. I set up the laptop and Shelly and I took our seats. I clicked on the link I received in an email, and Zoom launched. There were at least 200 other participants online, and we watched an intro video. The show started at 8:30pm.The show was filled with street magic using cards, coins, sleight-of-hand, and other props. I wondered how the magic would play on a computer, but the production was great. I won't go into details about the magic we witnessed since it will ruin it for you. However, Shelly and I were captivated by how fast-paced the show was and how much audience participation there was. The 90 minutes flew by, and the finale was breathtaking. Dan White clearly hooked me, because I've been thinking about how he could have pulled off the magic. The show is about $135 USD, but you can watch it with up to six people at home. While the website says it's for 18 years old and older, the show is very clean, and kids over 12 will enjoy it. I bought a ticket for The Magician's online show, not quite knowing what to expect. I had family members who had seen it a few weeks earlier. They raved about it but were very disciplined in not dropping any hints about what it was all about. I was able to watch it in my living room with two of my daughters and my son-in-law. The anticipation started building the week before, when we received our box with strict instructions not to open the inner box until the show started. The show itself was amazing--much better than I thought it could be given that it was on Zoom. There was lots of audience participation. Even though we were never one of the spotlighted groups, we were able to totally feel part of the show thanks to the mystery box. We're still talking about two of the tricks in particular, trying to puzzle out how Dan White could have possibly done them. My son-in-law is something of a magic buff and it's driving him crazy that he can't figure it out! We'd love to travel to NYC to see him in person when these "unprecedented times" are over. After seeing The Magician a couple of nights ago, I texted a bunch of my friends to gush about the show and tell them to get tickets. I think I just ended up annoying them with the amount of caps and exclamation points I used, but The Magician is that kind of show: you want to tell everyone how amazing it is and share the experience with them. To get tickets for the date I was looking for, I hunkered down in front of my computer five minutes before 10 AM. When the countdown on the calendar ended, I immediately clicked on the "buy tickets" button that showed up. I don't know if I was exceptionally lucky or happened to have a fast Internet connection, but somehow, I managed to snag two general tickets for a Friday 10:30 PM show on my first try. I bought them without knowing if anyone would be able to go with me (you can only buy tickets in pairs), but fortunately, one of my friends was game to see the show. The venue at the NoMad is wonderful and intimate. Although tickets can be tricky to get, I didn't get the vibe that The Magician is meant to be exclusive. (And anyway, I'm certainly not cool enough to be part of an elite crowd.) Instead, the goal seems to be making the experience as interactive and engaging as possible. The staff were personable as they welcomed us and took drink orders. My friend and I got Palomas, which were refreshing and strong. We also munched on the chicken-flavored popcorn that was included in the ticket cost; this was replaced by milk and honey popcorn for the second half of the show. I won't give any spoilers, but the show itself was astounding. Dan White was charming, relatable, and humorous while causing us to scratch our heads as we wondered how he pulled everything off. Time flew by, and I was THAT person who exclaimed, "Wow!" at the end of every trick. (Sincere apologies to everyone who was within earshot of me--my Paloma got to me.) You don't have to spring for the pricier tickets to increase your odds of participating in the show. In fact, Dan got everyone to participate in one trick, which was arguably the coolest one of the night. I sat by the wall in the second-to-the-last row, and I thought I had no chance of being picked as a volunteer. However, Dan does a great job of drawing volunteers from all parts of the room, and I actually got to participate in a trick. I was worried I would mess up the act--seriously, that Paloma was potent--but I had no reason to be nervous. Dan is fantastic at leading volunteers through the tricks, and he helped me feel at ease. He also made it clear to all of us that we could decline to participate if we didn't feel comfortable. I was very happy with general tickets, and I actually preferred sitting in the back rows. Dan moves throughout the room, and the people seated in the front had to turn around to see him during parts of the show. I did have to crane my neck a little to see the action on the stage at the very beginning of the show, but the visuals weren't particularly important, and I had no problem seeing the rest of the show. My friends are tired of hearing me rhapsodize about The Magician, so now I've resorted to gushing on Yelp. After the show, Dan shook hands with every guest and thanked them--the perfect way to end. I usually don't hang onto souvenirs, but I kept one of the cards I was given (everyone gets a few before the show), and it's a great reminder of an unforgettable night. If you're hesitating about buying tickets, trust me; at the end of the show, you won't be thinking about the money you spent. Instead, you'll be fired up from the incredible experience. The Magician, Dan White, is as talented as he is charming. His skills will blow your mind and trick after trick completely astounded this jaded New Yorker crowd. The show is pretty interactive, so feel free to come and volunteer. However, the location and price point are rather elitist - affordable family friendly fun this is not. This is a classy magic show, complete with fancy cocktails, excellent seating arrangements, an intimate room, excellent acting, and people dressed up for a date on the town. The show is well designed, from the room layout, to props, to audio. It's incredibly detailed in keeping your attention on the charms at hand. Everyone stays in character, from the woman in the white dress, to Dan, to the waitstaff. The seating is comfortable, with sturdy chairs, little cocktail tables, and enough elbow room. The rear of the room is priced at $85, the middle has more room and is $95, and I'm guessing the front row is $125 each. Our $95 seats were in the second row, but next to the wall. The site is also well designed and easy to navigate and buy tickets. I think this is a great partnership with the Nomad and adds a fun, yet beautiful and not cheesy event to the area. The show will not be around forever, so if you're a magic fan, I would definitely recommend. My only dislikes were the complimentary popcorn. The first bowl is truffled and exceptionally salty. The second bowl is sweet. I don't know how people at so much of it. I thought my bowl was absolutely grossly oversalted! read more

Some of the tricks were pretty straight forward but others were absolutely mind blowing i.e. we couldn't come up with any logical method to how he did the trick! My cocktail was the ideal blend capturing the right balance of alcohol content while still maintaining a certain degree of sweetness. My second cocktail was even better and was super spicy. Most interestingly, chicken truffle popcorn was paired with the cocktails!! I'd never had popcorn quite like that and it was quite 'different' but in a good way, definitely hard to eat handfuls of it, best consumed in moderation. It's an intimate seating and for the most part was able to see everything. You can go early and have drinks and dinner in the nomad hotel, they have a few restauraunts, bars. What an experience. I haven't been to a magic show since I was a kid, obsessed (back then) with David Copperfield. Fun fact: Dan actually worked for him, years ago. From being told to "ask the lady in the white dress" about where to go to attend the show, to the intimate speakeasy-like setting that one can only find at the Nomad hotel, this was a really fun, genuinely unique way to spend an evening. Dan White is a wonderful performer - he's funny, he's relatable and apparently a bit of a mindreader too... We kept trying to figure out how he was pulling off all his acts, and I even (a self-proclaimed introvert) volunteered, just because. We also loved the cocktails, and the bowls of popcorn - savory in the first act, sweet in the second act and the ambiance. The music, I might add, also adds an elegant touch to the event. You have to come and know that there's truly not a bad seat anywhere (oh, and for us early birds, they won't let you in earlier than 30 mins before the show starts). read more
