I was arrested for wrecking my motor vehicle while allegedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The allegations have caused extreme distress, as my job requires that I have a valid CA drivers license. This potentially effects my ability to support myself financially. Vince has been an excellent lawyer and walked me through the process and has alleviated some of my concerns. There are two (2) parts to my case, the DMV hearing and then the court hearing. For the DMV hearing, Vince had subpoenaed the arresting officer and submitted the body cam footage as evidence. We won the DMV case and for me, this meant that no action was taken by DMV and I was able to retain my license. Therefore, I was able to keep my job whilst we continue with the case. After researching similar DMV cases, I found that less than 10% of DMV hearings are won. Although the court case is still pending, this is a big win for me and shows what an exceptional lawyer Vince is. I have the utmost faith that we will have a positive outcome. I will update this review once there has been a determination has been made for my case. I have and will continue to recommended his services to my friends or those in need of legal assistance. This is an update to my last review where I detailed how Vince won my DMV hearing by subpoenaing the body cam footage from the arresting officer. My job is license dependent so winning the DMV hearing allowed me to keep supporting myself for the past two years until our motion to suppress evidence hearing took place last Monday. Long story short, they didn't even get as far in court as the legalities of the forced blood draw because they put a fumbling prosecutor up against a very experienced criminal defense attorney in Vincent Maher. I could go into a lot of detail about the case and what Vince was up against but I don't know the legailities of putting all the details online. What I will say is that Vince is a LOT better at his job then the Solano County DA's are at there's. Plain and simple. I've known Vince Maher for a long while. He represented me when I was young and dumb. At age 20 I was getting in a lot of trouble. I was going in a bad direction. Facing a lot of time I knew that that life wasn't going to have any valuable future. I knew I'd turn my life around but there was no reason for him or anyone else to believe that. He visited often, shot it straight with me, didn't BS me and actually put in effort to help me get the help I needed. He was able to get me in a program unlike other programs that are just revolving doors. I researched it and found it and chose it. My county had never sent anyone there before and that was a problem. He helped convince them to give me that chance. Because of that breaking the ice our county began sending more young men to that program and some have done really well. Bottom line is I don't think any other attorney would have put in that extra effort. He fought side by side with me for about a year. I'll never forget that. With his help I was able to get a chance to turn my stuff around. Today I'm 39 and I have a hell of a lot of great stuff going for me and my family. I'll start first by saying that I've read many of the reviews on here about Mr. Maher, some good and some not so good, and they are all mostly accurate. My review is a mixed one because although Mr. Maher did help me to prevent a TDVRO from becoming a permanent one, I left the courthouse feeling as though I had lost my case. I say this because Mr. Maher had no interest in and made no effort to represent me, he only defended me. The Commissioner did ultimately rule in my favor by not granting them the permanent order they sought, but he also sat in the court scolding me and even put conditions on his final ruling as if he believed that I might be guilty. I admit that I had violated the temporary order once by contacting my mother-in-law to give my condolences when my father-in-law of 20 years had died, but that doesn't make me guilty. They never wanted to been included in this mess to begin with because we were very close. I helped care for them up until the day before being served with a TRO. To continue, not long after I hired Mr. Maher it became clear that he was not at all compassionate or concerned about me personally, he was only concerned about winning his case. He took nothing that I wanted into consideration, he did not ask the court to grant the restitution that he had promised me, he refused to ask that my personal belongings be returned, and he wasn't trying to prove my innocence instead his defense was that their claim had insufficient reason for being granted. Mr. Maher was rude to me, he never returned my phone calls, and he once told me "just get on with my life." Mr. Maher didn't speak with me prior to going to trial (or much at all), he never allowed me to speak when in court and/or submit character letters to the Commissioner, he didn't try to tell my side of the story and had he done any of this instead of just rebutting the lies of my POS ex-husband, William Fowler, and his whore Kassandra Beale, it would now be on record that they had flat out lied throughout the 2-year case by making multiple false accusations and police reports against me, and that they had absolutely zero evidence to support their claim to need a permanent DVRO, and I would have had some sense of redemption by clearing my name and restoring my reputation, which was most important to me. With that said, I am very grateful to have won my case but I would NEVER hire Mr. Maher to represent me again. read more
