I will be back to see another movie here soon! The Ashland Theatre has so much potential! I've gone 6+ times since it reopened and I have the following pros and cons Pros: Clean Staff are friendly and professional Great spot to take a date or your family Good mix of new and old movies Cons: -You can always hear the other movies. Whether you're in the small theater up stairs or in the big theater you always hear the sound of the other movie. They could fix this by staggering the movies. I know the current situation makes sense from a staffing perspective but I have multiple friends that no longer go to this theater because of this issue. -The last movie I saw in the big theater (Chinatown) there was birds or bats making a screeching noise on the viewers right side of the theater above the large white circle. It was sketchy. -And this made me so mad. The lights came on 3 minutes before the movie was over. 3 minutes before the end credits. Ruined the end of the movie (ruined the ending of Chinatown)

He would be rolling in his grave if he knew the theatre that he invested so much of his life to, was reduced to the current state that it currently finds itself. Employees are rude and find it funny to make side bar comments to one another of theatre patrons. It was very hilly and the turn in to the festival route was a blind left turn at almost the top of a hill on another rural state route where you couldn't see the oncoming traffic. One of those "honk and pray" kind of turns. The festival is set up in a semi-permanent location (the location stays, different fairs come and go) where they have little wooden stalls for the vendors and a well maintained walking path. The overall theme is kind of country chic, but if that isn't your style, it's just a fun afternoon, and there are lots of bath and body products, fudge, and FOOD to keep you going. OMG, the food. It was very crowded when we visited, and by the time we were ready for lunch, the food area was packed, but organized. Each vendor had an IN and an OUT line, and there were lots of options (soup, pizza, hot and cold sandwiches, fries, desserts, etc.) On our way out, we got smoked turkey legs for dinner, and I'm still working on that sucker. This is the only life-size wax museum in the state of Ohio, and it features more than 300 wax figures depicting around 100 scenes from the Christian Bible. The theme of this wax museum is nondenominational Christianity and the Bible, so you'll see many scenes from Bible stories, both Old Testament and New Testament, like Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, Jonah and the whale, Jesus speaking to the little children, the last supper, the crucifixion of Christ and all of the other heavy hitters. The stories are presented very earnestly. Each story has its own little scene, and you press a button and the lights come on for that scene, and a recorded voice reads that particular scene's passage from the Bible. There are pews in front of the scene, so you can sit and absorb what's going on. Each recording is about 5-7 minutes. As you can imagine, if you made your way from the beginning to the end and listened to each Bible story, you would be there all day. (The lady who works there said some people are there like five hours.) However, you can also just wander the museum and pick and choose which stories you want to hear. I am a cynical person, and this is really not the kind of place you want to take me without expecting me to say something about it. But I have nothing but good things to say about Biblewalk. There is something very warm and comforting about it. It's like the best of the Midwest: Just wide-eyed, open-armed optimism and hope. I was prepared to roll my eyes at the earnest of it all, but you kind of get wrapped up in all of the stories as you walk through the museum. It's hard not to appreciate the museum and the stories that mean so much to so many.

But even thought it's in the Reformatory, it's its own thing. This small museum is a space that honors and preserves central Ohio's industrial and manufacturing history. It's really neat. You can learn about the Jones Potato Chip Company, which is based right here in Mansfield, Ohio. You can learn about the people who immigrated to Ohio and what companies they worked for. You can learn about the various products that were built in Mansfield and central Ohio (water pumps! Westinghouse appliances! So much more!) It's a tiny museum, but it's well worth the visit, especially if you like to learn about where things were made, how they were made, and if you appreciate Americana. Admission to the North Central Ohio Industrial Museum is free with admission to the Reformatory. The museum is located off of the Reformatory's bullpen, between the east and west cell blocks.
