After about 5 days there, they released him to return to memory care unit (Alzheimers). He was no where ready to return, rehab was shortened and info as to his condition was incorrect. Memory care unit now sending him back to rehab, but not Katherines. We don't trust them now as we feel they lied to us on his condition. As for his personal belongings, clothes and such, GONE. They have no idea where his things are, about $40 worth of clothes misplaced/lost.

So this review is an outsiders perspective. There are some amazing, fabulous people working here. I'd say 97% of the people I interacted with were stellar! And I think the select few uncaring, ignorant staffers would be found anywhere - I don't know how they could eliminate all of them - but I know they try! Food in the cafeteria used to be AMAZING!! Seriously there were many time I thought I should go eat there JUST for the food. Sadly when I was there for 3 weeks in Dec 2016 the food was NOT the yumminess I remember. The sandwich bar is still good!! I especially love the pretzel bun! And they're made to order using quality ingredients. Not skimpy either - nicely done on the balance of ingredients! However the entree and sides that in the past tasted small batch homemade and nutritious (aka not fried) have become industrial, prepackaged glop and mostly fried and/or dried out. The best line was someone's comment that the roast turkey was so dried out it looked like "toast"!! Ha ha ha! Highlight - 2nd floor coffee shop!! A real espresso machine and ab fab smoothies! They also have tasty sweet treats and usually at lunch a soup (which may or may not match the cafeteria)! Speaking of coffee - some floors have free and accessible coffee, tea, ice, etc but some don't - I encourage you to walk around or ask! If you have to be in a hospital this is probably one of the best around. They have some of the BEST specialists in the entire region. I especially think the Walker Heart Institute is amazing! You'd have to go to a much larger metropolitan area to do better! Best advice - stay out of hospitals - they are not a good place to be . When I turned around, I saw a man with "Security" on the front and back of his shirt staring at me. I asked if he was security for the hospital, and he pointed to his name badge and said his name was Dylan. I simply grabbed my lunch and went about my business. However, this behavior is unacceptable and unprofessional.

Wake up, already in withdrawal, take dose, sweat all day, and then there's a slow, painful titration period of just feeling more like crap every hour until you next dose. After a a while (years in) methadone starts metabolizing far quicker, leaving you in withdrawal in the middle of the day. It's a terrible way to continue on living, and MED MARK and Springdale Treatment Center do not care about you. Not a great deal, and despite a few decent counselors here and there, you're still under rule by dictator-like rules, not even entertaining patients concerns, only wanting to keep patients coming in to spend their little money on methadone. Appropriate, as Methadone was invented by a chemist in Hitler's regime. They blew through their morphine, so they invented methadone to keep his Nazi soldiers comfortably addicted. After the Vietnam war, Methadone clinics started popping up in the states to treat soldiers coming back addicted to heroin. In the 1990's, heroin was on the rise again, so more clinics opened. And now we have private companies opening clinics like STC to make money on those hopelessly addicted. It's now owned and operated by MedMark (previously owned by The Riverwood Group). The doctor, Thomas Atkinson has the worst bedside manner I have ever experienced. I have made efforts with state officials to improve this. However, during several of my annual physicals, Atkinson would tell hideous stories about how he hates his wife and dogs. He vents his toxic nonsense to his patients, using explicit language, and an overall negative, attitude. Note, this isn't playful venting. Each year I went in he was less than interested in how my dose was. #liquidhandcuffs They only care about your $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

She is the director and let me tell you.. she isn't here for the money and it isn't "just a job" to her. This woman truly cares and wants you to succeed and she will do everything along with her staff to help you in your recovery journey. I then meet a nurse and the Dr! The nurse was incredibly helpful and nice as well. Everyone had a smile on their face and they didn't act like they hated their job. The doctor has first hand experience and he knows exactly what we are going through and how we feel. He genuinely cares as well and wants you to get your life on track. He knows what he is doing and is very intelligent. Please just be honest with everything when you come to this clinic. I promise they only want to help you. I know I sound like a broken record but I have never been to a place like this one where all the staff cares. Jeremy is one of the counselors and he is such a great guy too. He of course cares and is easy to talk to. Like I said just be honest because that's how you're truly going to get better. Jeremy will do everything he can to help you in your sobriety. If you're reading this and was hesitant before to come in. Don't be! You will feel welcome and will feel better. The first step is reading this. Now make the call to better yourself.
