I came here the other day in the late morning and had some really really nice cheese and spinach rolls/bureks/pasteries. They were absolutely delicious!
The cafe is old school and a bit daggy but thats kind of what I like about it! I particularly liked the concrete horses fountain outside with no water in it! I think with a bit of work this place could look wonderful too.
The food is great and cheap and if they can improve a few things about the presentation of the place, but without losing the original charm, then it would be a really wonderful bakery!
A few things of note as a Melbournian in Adelaide for the day:
1. I was surprised (and quite disappointed) that they didnt serve Farmers Union Iced Coffee
2. I was very impressed that they gave me the Adelaide Advertiser for free (as I spent over $4). I wanted to get it anyway to read about how Port Adelaide smashed Adelaide in the Showdown! (Port Adelaide are my second team after Richmond).
3. I was a bit miffed when the bloke serving us asked if we wanted tomato sauce (on a cheese and spinach roll?????) and put it on the table anyway even though we said no! (Although thats not an Adelaide thing, its just odd).
All in all I really nice little cafe - its far from perfect, but thats the sort of thing I like in a bakery! read more
