I love Trader Joe's ever since way back in the day when they were only in Cali…read more This was my go-to location for my monthly TJ trips. However, the traffic in the area and the parking have gotten increasingly more hectic and chaotic. Because of this, I have been using a location out in the 'burbs. I would give 5 stars but because of the chaos, I have to give 4. The store itself is chaotic inside but can still navigate, employees are that TJ-friendly that we all know and love. They always have what I need. Like I said, just a nightmare at times to get inside.

Well, this is probably the best TJ's in the Austin area due its size and variety of healthy, eco-friendly products, so if you've not yet had the pleasure to visit, here's why you should: 1. Yes, it's in downtown at Seaholm but you get 1 hour of free, validated, protected garage parking right outside the basement doors. When you come in the garage, go forward and loop around to the left side to reach the marked TJ spaces. In 2025, you validate by entering your license plate number in the Metropolis kiosk - it's a breeze. 2. Bring an insulated bag for frozen items. TJ's has an impressive selection of high quality frozen seafood and prepared meals, appetizers, sides, and desserts that you won't find anywhere else at these prices. Lately my favorites are the assorted dumplings and other dim sum fare. Oh, and get ready for some fun on the freezer aisle, where you'll be tempted by all manner of sweet treats stored at eye level above the freezers. 3. Seasonal, limited edition items. Early summer was lemon season with lemon pasta, lemon pesto, lemon body care, lemon candles, and so on. My most recent visit, it was strawberry everything: tiny pies, mochi, dry cereal, etc. At Christmas time, my friends go wild for the kringle pastry selection. There's always something that will only be around for a few days, so you feel like you've struck gold when you get there before it's all gone. 4. Seasonings and sauces. TJ's has some of the best spice blends and prepared sauces that will punch up your home cooked meals. I am obsessed with the crunchy chili onion oil and dry crunchy chili onion sprinkle shaker, living in anxiety that they will be retired. 5. The nicest people! Everyone working seems to have a PhD in customer service. I always leave with a smile on my face after dealing with the friendly checkout counter staff person. There's even more to love - fresh flowers! awesome skincare dupes! great produce & cheese! excellent low cost wines! - but you'll need to come in & experience it for yourself. Bring your reusable bags!

Deli Rating: 3.8/5 [take out]…read more It was around 8 PM and we were just browsing the deli section when we noticed they were making combo bowls and placing them on the $6.99 shelf. We picked one up with pork ribs, roasted pork belly, bok choy, and white rice. It felt like a great deal, and since we hadn't tried the food here before, we figured why not. If you want to choose your meats, you can order directly at the counter. My husband got the 2 BBQ meat combo ($12.99) with roasted pork belly and honey BBQ pork. It came with bok choy and fried rice. The rice was pretty dry, but the meats were all equally good. The roasted pork belly is much better if you air-fry it and dip it in the sauce. The food is definitely on the unhealthy side, so my stomach wasn't too happy afterward, but nothing major. Overall, I still think this is a solid option if you're pressed for time.

The husband and I definitely rang in the New Year with some great seafood! Also inside 99 ranch is BF Bakery where they have a great deal of any 2 pastries and drink for $6.49 which is a steal! I got their ham & cheese pastries and a hot Taro latte which made a great snack on the way back home.

This uniquely Austin business recently popped up at the Sunset Valley Farmers Market sampling…read moresoups, sauces, cheese and the most decadent Potato Salad (with a twist) that I have EVER had. The twist: Maytag bleu cheese, bacon and white truffle are all in the potato salad. Truffles and Potato Salad... WOW - what a combination. My taste buds will never be the same. They cater to vegans, vegetarians and carnivores alike. If you are Vegan, you will love their Roasted Carrot and Fennel Soup and their Pumpkin Ginger soup. Hot or cold, as vegan fare, it is the creamiest soup I have experienced, sans the cream. Their Smoky Tomato soup is out of this world, and dare I say, much healthier than the local chain restaurant alternatives. Cheese lovers, get ready with the bread and your spreader, they make a cows milk lemon infused fresh cheese, soft, spreadable and melts in your mouth. I have never had anything like it. I walked away with 2 soups, the cheese and the potato salad. I almost forgot about the potato salad because it was in my fridge less than 24 hours before gobbled up. For local, artisan foods, they were priced very reasonably. One pint containers of soup were $5 each. Potato Salad in same sized container (not filled to top) was $6 and 6 oz of cheese was also $6. Chef Blake Moffitt is truly an artist and the name of his business: Elevated Artisanal Goods, Inc. clearly fits the caliber of food he is creating. A must add to your Saturday morning stops. I am hooked! They do not have a website - but do have e-mail: elevatedartisan@gmail.com

After several samples of cheese, sauces and soups I attempted to walk away; but, quickly returned for a pint of the Potato Leek Soup. The soup was thick and spicy and a bit pricey at 5.00 but worth every penny. It was the perfect treat on a cold morning while listening to folk music!
