My daughter had her wedding here and the entire experience was absolutely amazing! The venue is just gorgeous and it's so nice to have the entire property for your event. After looking at so many other (very pricey) venues, we were pleasantly surprised at the price for this gorgeous venue. Such a great value! Our day-of-coordinator Heather was just wonderful! We had our wedding here on March 30th. Janette was our day-of-coordinator and she was absolutely incredible. I cannot recommend this venue enough to host events. The communication, scheduling availability, and flexibility were top notch esp for the bridal industry. The pricing was also very transparent and reasonable. Highly highly recommend! read more

Went to a friend's wedding here- our friend was very displeased with this venue. The venue staff were rude and unfriendly, and were very anti-fun with the groom and wedding party on the wedding day! Like "you're all so drunk and disorderly, you need to learn how to behave" to a group of guys that just had a few beers... Our friend made it work, but you could tell that he wasn't happy about it. Recently had a cocktail at the Matthew's House spin off, Prohibitive Cary. I absolutely love what they've done as it is both relaxing and really welcoming with seating inside and out. The staff were super friendly and engaging. I remember when the new owners purchased it and talked to them about their plans so I'm happy to see it coming to life.. Can't wait to return for more drinks and perhaps a bite...oh I had the seasonal Bourbon apple cider drink that was so tasty.... read more

Heavy hors d'oeuvres consisted of four tasteless cold hors d'oeuvres that should have been served warm, a dance floor taken over by a dance school down the street, no sparkles, decorations, noise makers appropriate for NYE. DJ terrible and catered to the dance school. This was the first NYE where we left early. We want a refund. read more

Nice place for events. I attended a company luncheon and the house was clean and well maintained. The food that was served here from their onsite kitchen was terrible. Very bland and tasteless. There wasn't any signs to tell you what the food was as it was served buffet style. There wasn't any staff around to ask and the two staff members I did see were dressed casual so they blended right in with my coworkers lol. They should have had on banquet attire. Completely disappointed! We went for Mother's Day this year. They said that they were having a Mother's Day brunch. I could not of been more disappointed. When looking at the website it looks like it would be a nice brunch that was a buffet. I like the items that were listed on their website that they would be serving. However, upon arriving we were completely disappointed. Firstly, when you check-in you have to immediately pay for your meal and include tip before you even sit down. I thought this was very unclassy and poor business. Secondly, no one explained to us that we would not have a server. And we weren't sure when we were allowed to get up and get our meal. Finally, there was a separate area where drinks were served. So if you wanted anything but water you had to go to a bar area and order a separate drink. That includes orange juice ice tea and all the rest. The food was moderately good. The entire set up was so poorly laid out and the process was very un-chic. read more

If you want a venue that is beautiful and will take excellent care of you on your very special day, pick The Matthews House! My husband, mom, and sister all helped in the search for the perfect wedding venue. When looking at other venues, we left all of them saying things we wish we could fix, but The Matthews House was the first venue we got really excited over. We were able to have the ceremony outside and the reception inside. It was great being able to get ready in the lovely, spacious upstairs bedroom and the men had their own room downstairs. I was able to use the whole house for the day and make it my own. Jannette was so helpful and responsive during the whole planning process! I can't say enough good things about her. One awesome reason to get married at the Matthews House is because they can take care of the food, wine/beer, and cake. The food tasting exceeded our expectations and we were able to create a unique, delicious dinner that was not bland or boring at all. It was also great being able to have my cake designed and made on-site. Jannette was always responsive and helpful with my emails, phone calls, and times we met. I brought pictures and other things to set up on our wedding day and Jannette and her crew helped me set up everything. When I started trying to help, she told me it was my day and to go enjoy myself and get ready. She made sure we sat down and ate during the wedding. Jannette and her team worked with all of our other vendors to make sure everything was coordinated and it made our day go so smoothly. I don't think I could have picked a better wedding venue. It was the perfect place for my husband and I to get married. Now that the wedding is over, when we pass by the exit, I want to stop by and visit. I definitely plan to visit on our anniversary. hate to write this but...grounds are lovely, banquet hall is fine, food was terrible. We attended a ceremony there, catered by the Matthews house for $25.00 per person. dinner was served on one plate which was to include salad (not even a salad plate?). Rolls on the table, no bread plate. serve your own drinks, not even water on the table. food was buffet style, but served and very intentionally portion controlled. We were served one tiny scoop of what I think was risotto (not even sure if that's what it was, no one at my table could figure out if it was runny rice or risotto, whatever it was, was undercooked), exactly 2 small slices of overcooked zucchini/squash (yes, just two, carefully measured and served pieces, no more) one extremely small, overcooked and under-seasoned piece of boneless chicken and desert was one bite of soggy cheesecake., served with a paper napkin. never spent so much money for food of this quality and quantity. we were all hungry when we left! . look elsewhere for catered dinners...giving it a one star for the pretty grounds. read more
