Far and away the WORST law firm I have ever hired. They are very good at taking your money. And nothing else. Very poor communication skills. Even worse at negotiating a plea. No follow through on their promises to file this or that. No explanations for why certain things are occurring in your casexthat shouldn't be. No nothing. They might be good at DUI's. I don't know. I didn't hire them for that. But their website claims they are the largest criminal defense firm in central PA. Maybe that was the problem. They only have five lawyers and working there appears to be a revolving door. Be prepared to pay through the nose for them to do nothing and pay a reputable lawyer even more to clean up their mess. I hired Shawn Dorward after an extensive search for the right lawyer for my daughter's very serious legal problem. Yes....it does cost money to hire a good attorney and you have to go into the process knowing that they are fighting for you with the law in mind.......they can't go above it and they can't change it. Don't walk away, please do yourself a favor and RUN!!! Fully agree with Sara S as they will not help you with your legal problems and as in my case they will likely end up COSTING you more money. Be careful about the pricing especially as they try to hide the amount that they will charge you when your case goes to trial. The initial charge is just for them to show up for your initial hearing, from there be prepared to be broke. As I also said, they will likely end up costing you money. In my case because my attorney (and it amazes me that he even is allowed to be an attorney with the way he handled my case) was too lazy to simply call and provide me with the details on when my next court case was, I not only got to spend an extra night in jail, but had to pay $1000 for something not my fault. If that isn't bad enough, the McShane Firm is so insanely greedy that even though it was their fault they are still trying to charge me another $500 for a no show fee. I was also passed around to 4 different attorneys throughout the process and it was readily apparent that none of them except the 2nd one (who not surprisingly left the McShane Firm) cared about me or my case as they repeatedly asked for the same basic information over and over (ie: wife's name, how many children, etc). I was treated as if I was a loser who is a drain on society even though I'm a healthcare professional who helps with charities, has a loving family who I take care of, and am a military veteran to say the least. Please feel free to contact me if you are considering them and would like details on how they really treat their clients. Oh, one last thing, before you go believing some of the other reviews that speak highly of them, please know that they contacted me even before they had done anything about my case and said they would give me $50 if I gave them a good review online. That's blatant bribery and it sounds like they know the work they do is shoddy, so they try to get the reviews before the truth is seen. UPDATE: 07/28/2016 I fully encourage everyone to read Mr. McShane's rebuttal as you'll see he only verifies everything I'm getting at. He begins by trying to vaguely dismiss me as "that guy" who is angry. Please review any and all my reviews here, on Google, or anywhere else and it's plain to see that my reviews are nothing but simple, straightforward and honest. This is just a lazy attempt to passively dismiss me. Let's continue on to his scenario where he attempts to point out the different manners in which I have supposedly been warned. The reality is if we pulled the phone records and voicemails, it would be plainly seen that I was the one making the calls trying to confirm the date as I live in Boston and I have to make sure I have enough warning to give to my work to take the day(s) off to make the trip to Pennsylvania. He also mentions using the internet to verify it, which I was certainly not told about by any of my attorney's (and worst still, how lazy does that make him and his attorneys?). Saying that I plum forgot or ignored it is such a farce that I would feel shameful as an attorney for saying it. Again, we can pull the phone records as Richard Roberts said "your court date is currently set for XX/XX/XXXX, BUT, they MAY move it outside the trial week." I informed him that's fine, but that I needed to know for sure at least one day prior so I can confirm with my work that I will need that day off. NO CALL came until 10 minutes prior to court beginning at which time he couldn't even muster an apology and informed me that I would have to come in for a bench warrant. When my trial finally came my assigned attorney didn't even show up. Tim Barrouck (who actually seems to be a decent attorney) showed up instead. So yes dear reader, please ask yourself if this is what you would expect from an attorney who has already taken thousands of your dollars. See how quickly they shift the blame. Once they have your money, this is exactly what you can expect. I had heard good things about Justin McShane himself, but now after seeing his shameful attempt to discredit a person looking out for the best interests of hard-working people, I can see exactly why the rest of his firm responds the way they do.
