One of the hardest things to do is to care for a loved one, especially thousands of miles away. My mom was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and was in and out of the hospital a few times in a short period. Her health was failing and all I could do was pray. Once again, my mom was rushed to the hospital and I immediately flew out to see her. She was no longer able to care for herself as she lived alone. I needed to make sure that she would be safe after post-discharge and definitely wouldn't trust her going to a skilled nursing facility under the care of under-worked and underpaid staff, where she would be almost certain to have bed sores, etc., for lack of care. I didn't know which way to turn; praying for guidance, I was referred to Gilbert's Assisted Living from a rep from the Texas Adult Protective Services who gave high regards; THAT in and of itself speaks volume. God answered my prayer when I met and spoke to the owner, Mr. Ronald over the phone. He assured me that he would do everything he possibly could to help us Mr. Ronald stepped up to the plate like he promised. My husband and I went to the facility where we met Mr. Ronald and his right hand manager, Mrs. "Q' Quananda who was super helpful and professional. It was only by the grace of God that Mr. Ronald went to the extent that he did to assist us; visiting mom at the hospital shortly after the meeting with him at the facility, connecting me with additional resources, and making sure that my mom had a space at the facility upon discharge from the hospital. Unfortunately, my mom's health was declining quickly while in the hospital; the stay took a great toll on her. She was discharged and taken to Gilbert's. She was also under hospice care at the facility. Mr. Ronald was TRULY a BLESSING to me and my family, in fact, he treated us as family. They made sure that she had a favorite treats, foods, and anything else that she wanted. Although my mom had a short time to live after her hospital discharge, I couldn't see her in the care of anyone else but Gilbert's Assisted Living. Mr. Ronald and the staff were TRULY a blessing to us. They made sure that she was treated with dignity, respect, and like family. They also made sure to facetime me daily so that my mom and I could talk since I live so far away and I am forever grateful for that. Do not hesitate to consider this facility with it's attentive, loving, and caring staff. And trust me, they are NOT about the money. They are the epitome of a facility that has a heart for people and upstanding care. Gilbert's Assisted Living was truly a God-send. Give them a call today...it will be the best move that you can make for your loved one.

I will add, when I left, it had started to get dark and there was a parking lot security officer who made sure I even got to my car safely. My mom had cancer that she fought a hard fight for 9 months, then when nothing more could be done we needed hospice. My mom was at MD Anderson hospital which they use Kindred often. I'm also a RN and know how big of an entity with different levels of care Kindred has so felt comfortable that they were a reliable company. If my mom would've improved at home, then our plan was to switch to Kindred Home Health and restart treatment. The nurse met my mom about 1 hour after she got home from the hospital. They were so patient and caring and kind. The case manager, Meagan was excellent!!!! We had a social worker, Renea & Chaplin, John who really exceeded our expectations. Our CNA was so extremely gentle during a sponge bath that it seemed like a spa service to our mom that had extreme pain and received that comfort. We had used a different hospice company with our dad and Kindred was WAY BETTER than our previous experience. I called them at 2 am and 5 am with wonderful return call service and direction. Never did we feel alone! Meagan, RN called us many times to check how my mom was doing before she passed as she knew and had informed our family of her near symptoms and signs. My mom passed 7 days after coming home from the hospital. It was the hardest thing to watch her go through so much pain and suffering for the last several months. I wish we would have used Kindred Hospice sooner. They called our family many times to check how we were doing after her passing, and still call us. They are going to arrange bereavement grief services for us when we are ready. We have a lot of things to process which takes a lot of time so needed to wait about 3 months before we could take advantage of that resource. I highly recommend Kindred Hospice in Beaumont. I will refer my future patients and families that I care for to them.

She was received without delay and the CT showed nothing significant to deal with. Dr Ireland, nurse Faith, radiology tech Tony and admissions rep Amella were all polite, efficient and attentive.
