There is so much going for this place, but it feels like they're not taking full advantage of what…read morethey have. Location is great - easy to get to, right on the lake with many rooms that not only overlook the lake but have balconies that you can go out on. It was really nice to sit outside of my room and read while viewing and listening to the lake. There is a bike/walking trail that goes right past the hotel for an evening stroll, and the hotel even has bikes for rent. Plenty to do if you've got kids. This hotel has not only a beachfront/swimming area, but you can rent pontoons, kayaks as well. They have a playground area outside alongside the hotel. The pool area is spacious and has a small arcade area next to it. I didn't go to restaurant/lounge, so can't speak to it, but it's nice to have the option in-house. All of these amenities in total add up to what could be a amazing destination, and yet it just feels a bit tired and worn down. The carpeting in the hallways was not in good shape, and overall upkeep seems a little lacking.

Worst hotel experience ever. The room we were given was on the third floor on the pool side. Do NOT…read morestay here. After we requested to be moved, they refused. Then after attempting to sleep in a room with more chlorine smell than the pool room itself. It opened at 8am. And there were screaming children immediately. When I complained when checking out, the clerk said, "that's a common complaint in that room, but our owners have instructed us to not give refunds, especially when they are full. I was offered an opportunity to leave a review, but I'm not complaining to this location where they will bury it in a drawer. There are at least 5 other chain hotels in Detroit Lakes. This one is not worth the cost at half price. DO NOT stay here. This place should be stripped of its affiliation with Holiday Inn.

I came here for a bachelorette party since the bride loves country music. First I didn't enjoy that…read morethe tickets were expensive for general admission and you didn't get the best view for the stage. Plus it includes an $8 for shipping a little plastic bracelet that shouldn't cost $8 to ship and they need to switch to scanning the tickets to your phone and providing you your wrist band at the door. 2nd the bathrooms at the concert were unsanitary and had shower curtains for doors. That didn't provide a lot of privacy especially if it was windy. 3rd the main act Miranda Lambert was suppose to the headline and they had horrible communication about moving up artists before her causing people to miss them. Also, they cancelled after an hour of waiting because of storms and high winds when honestly she could've played half her set before the storms came in. I'm not a big country music but the staff weren't the best and friendly. It's not something I would attend again.

I absolutely LOVE WEfest! I look forward to it now, every summer. VIP experience is amazing…read more however, the reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the vip drink lines and food lines are horrendous! I paid all this extra money to get premium gold tickets, plus pit passes and there were 4 lines (bartenders) serving the entirety of all of VIP for drinks? I wound up paying for my drinks everyday because they are NOT set up to accommodate the large amount of people in VIP. other music festivals I have been to, have 10 times the amount of staff and areas to get your complimentary drinks! irs VIP!!! we should have no problem accessing the drinks we all paid for! WEfest needs to get it together. same with the line to get into the VIP banquet hall. 500 people in line, all single file. dumb. this year, I'm going pit passes and purchased the country club lounge instead. see how this goes. y'all should take notes from TORTUGAFEST! it's a 3 day country music festival in Fort Lauderdale, FL, also run by front gate. now they are the most organized and well run venue I've ever experienced in my life.
