We live in Pitkin, a small town that's about 45 mins from Alexandria. While on my way home my car started dinging telling me it was running hot. I was in a drive through line and I immediately turned my car off. Once I placed my order and it was time to drive to the window where you pay, I cranked my car and drove to the next window. From that short drive it was running hot again so I killed it at that window. Once I got the food I cranked it and drove quickly to the parking lot next door which was a Family Dollar. It was pouring down rain and the parking lot was wet. I couldn't really get out and see if any hoses were leaking because I wouldn't be able to tell what was rain water and what was leakage. I googled and found a mechanic 5-6 miles away. He talked to me for awhile as I tried to explain where I was. Being from out of town I had no clue. He told me next to the Family Dollar Store was Louisiana Transmission. I walked over and he told me talk to Mr. Ed. I walked over and spoke with Mr. Ed and the many on the phone, the other mechanic actually got on the phone and spoke to Mr. Ed. Mr. Ed came over in the pouring rain to check my car out. He was so kind and checked it out throughly. After it cooled down he got some water in it and told me to drive it to his shop. He and his guys checked all of my hoses and topped of the water and sent me home with a container of water just in case. Morris runs an honest and reputable business…read more My daughter is a student at LSU and I was in a difficult position when her car broke down since I am 300 miles away in Houston. From what she described over the phone it sounded as if the transmission had gone out on her '04 Civic. Not having any experience with repair shops in Baton Rouge, I searched the internet. Morris' shop came up with a couple of good reviews plus some extra information on a Community page. I figured if he has been in business for 25+ years he must know what he is doing. I gave Morris a call and he arranged for towing . After he had a chance to check out the car, he told me the CV axle was damaged and the transmission was probably fine. This turned out to be the case (whew!). Morris got it fixed up and back on the road in a reasonable amount of time. My daughter hasn't reported any further issues with the car. It was an uncomfortable situation dealing with car repairs by long distance without having a chance to see things for myself. I really appreciate the fact that Morris gave an honest assessment of the problem and didn't try to crowd a bunch of extra services into the picture. I think he handled the repairs in a very professional manner and charged a fair and reasonable price for his work. I am a satisfied customer.
