I'm shocked this place is still in business. I've had two mineral baths, and both were horrible. Not relaxing at all. Tubs are too small to actual soak in and constant noise from other parts of the spa is way too distracting. First time was bad enough to never go back but my friend accidently booked it again another time. Cute little spa. Came here in a group of 5 for a bachelorette party, we all wanted different things and they easily accommodated us. They greeted us in the lobby and introduced themselves first which made us all comfortable. We appreciated that they asked if we'd be ok with a male masseuse instead of assuming. I had a mineral bath and it was so relaxing. The room was cozy, had dimming lights, and music playing. My bath attendant made sure the water temperature was good for me and she offered me a glass of wine while I soaked. On our way out, the staff gave the bride in our party some fresh sunflowers they picked up at the farmers market. It was such a sweet gesture. Would definitely use their services again. read more

Using a Groupon bought the Couples escape. This included a couples massage, mineral bath, wine and chocolate. The massage was an hour and included a paraffin hand dip. It was wonderful. We were given robes and bags to use for our belongings. The mineral bath for two was a jacuzzi tub. The water was a perfect temperature and this is where we enjoyed a glass of wine. The chocolates were a dish of Hershey's kisses that were on a table. All in all it was a lovely experience. The only problem I had was when I made the appointment I was asked for a credit card in case of cancelling. I explained that I had already paid for my Groupon so if I cancelled they already received the money for the massage. ( They also have you give the number on your Groupon ). She insisted she needed a credit card, since I wasn't cancelling I gave it to her. But it doesn't make much sense! read more

I recently bought a couples massage on Living Social. When I called to schedule a massage, there was nobody there to answer the call. The automated message said that I could leave a voicemail or text a phone number to schedule my services. This really irritated me because I feel like having somebody available to answer the phone is a bit of a requirement. Call me old fashioned. Ever had a massage so great that you just fell asleep on the table? Well my mom did and this place was the reason for it. It was Christmas Eve and my Mom complained about a pain in her side, so my Queen and I opted to give her an early Christmas present... a full body massage (and more). We booked the massage but due to an issue with their plumbing they weren't able to accommodate the mineral soak but that wasn't their fault. We arrived promptly and my mom was offered tea but that didn't go as planned due to them being out of paper tea cups...and offering us plastic. Sounds bad I know, but they made up for it with a glass of wine and before we knew it the masseuse was ready. My mom disappeared into the back room for over an hour and came out with a spring in her step. She looks happier, well rested, and couldn't stop smiling... they gave her exactly what we expected. My experience did not start off great. It took me over 4 weeks to make an appointment. My husband got me a Groupon for Christmas and around the beginning of February I finally got around to trying to make an appointment. One week I left a voicemail, then after a week of not hearing back, I texted the number; got a response that said they'd have the spa call me back. Another week passed and I sent another text with no response. Another week and left a message on Thursday and finally got a call back late on Friday. I was nearly at the point of giving up and complaining to Groupon. Thankfully I have a fairly flexible work calendar since it seemed the only open times for the weeks I was available were all Tuesdays and fairly early in the day. Finally, just this week, I was able to have my appointment. For how much trouble it took to make an appointment, I got a confirmation call and two text messages. Upon arriving, I was shown to a small room for my mineral soak. I was offered a glass of wine or water for it. The room for the soak was small, with enough room for a bathtub and a small table, but that was about it. They provided a robe, a tote bag for my clothes, and flip flops to walk to the other room. The receptionist showed me to the room, explained that I could adjust the temperature, offered me chocolate from the bowl on the side of the tub (which was just Hersey kisses). The soak was okay, not really my thing. The brown mineral water through me off, but there was a little signed that explained the coloring of the water. Overall, it was okay. There was a little envelope for a tip for the bath attendant sitting on top of the towel. I wasn't expecting that one, but maybe just because I've never done a soak like that before. My massage therapist was super friendly and attentive, I think her name was Monica but don't quite remember (oops!). She asked lots of questions to make sure my massage was what I wanted. The massage was good and I was so relaxed I nodded off at the end of the appointment. If I was reviewing just the quality of the massage, I'd give it 4.5-5 stars. On my way out, I got a little cup of mineral salts that I can use in my own bath or add oil to for a scrub. We had a Groupon for a couples massage here, and man was it worth it! This was my first experience with a male masseuse and in all honesty I was a tad nervous! But the guy was incredibly professional, and it may have been the best massage I've had yet! He was really understanding of my ticklish spots (I've got quite a few) and I left feeling refreshed and satisfied. My boyfriend also enjoyed his, it was his first massage from a male as well. The guy and I were in Saratoga for my birthday and wanted to take full advantage of its famed mineral baths. But we could find only one spa offering a couples mineral bath - Medberry, which offered a few couples' spa packages. We drove up, found the free parking in the back, and were greeted by the friendly receptionist who got us water to drink, let us know our bath was being drawn, and showed us to our room when it was ready. We settled in - pure heaven! I'm glad she explained that the water would change colors as we soaked because it definitely did, and I'm also glad that the volume knob to the music was reachable from the tub so we could turn it down and soak in quiet peace. A soft knock let us know that it was time for our couple's massage. We donned their robes and fuzzy slippers and were greeted in the hallway by Nikki and Bill, who treated us with such care. Nikki's massage was perfect - she started gently, and kept checking in as she upped the pressure. After an hour of her work I felt completely free of tension. In the same room Bill works on my guy, and in his own words: "Bill opened me up. At one point I was lying there and I felt relaxed but my body felt odd, like my shoulder and neck were at a different angle than usual. Then I realized that for the firt time in a long time, I was actually lined up and lying straight." Way to go, Bill! I enjoyed the atmosphere. We also went down to the spa for a little while which was everything I could have hoped for and more. All and all thoroughly enjoyed this place. So, this review actually has nothing to do with the massage therapists. My last massage here was quite lovely. This review is about how the Spa is managed and the reservation process. I like to do things online. I really hate calling around to try and find a reservation or appointment. I have an app called MINDBODY that allows me to find appointments in the area. I booked my appointment for deep tissue massage at the Medbery Spa. I got a call at 9 AM to tell me that my 11 AM appointment has been canceled due to lack of rooms. Huh? How can your online service allow you to book a room and a service without you leaving that appointment open? So, now, I didn't make any plans for the day and I am left trying to find a last minute massage, which we all know does not exist in the Capital Region. So, no massage for me. I would be less disappointed if this hadn't happened to me the last time I made an appointment at the Medbery Spa. At least, the last time they had time and space available. However, they were surprised when we arrived that we had booked a service. What kind of management allows the booking process to ruin their reputation? I guess this one. read more

I got a voucher on Groupon for a spa day and 60 minute massage or facial, and for 2 months I called the spa repeatedly, including calling the hotel, and no one answered/called me back to actually schedule an appointment. Super disappointing as this was a gift from my husband and could really use the spa day. Mini suites are not quite the "luxury" atmosphere as described on the website. Fireplace is electric, not high end, no curtains on wndows, (just blinds), worn furniture, a tiny television that's at least 12 years old ( no exaggeration), artificial flowers around the room. The building inside and out is in desperate need of a facelift/repair- even the stairs to the rooms are uneven and sagging. I am annoyed at the miisleading descriptions and do not recommend staying here. Not worth the price. That being said, the inn hostess was very nice and accommodating. There is nothing like a nice hot mineral bath, so having previously checked out some spas out west, we decided to try one a little closer to home. Upstate NY, the Saratoga Springs area, has 3 legitimate mineral spas that we could find. The Medbery is one that has been recently added, thanks to the town granting the Inn direct access to the mineral spring that runs through the town of Ballston Spa. We went for a package deal that included a night at the Inn, a mineral bath for two and a facial for my wife for $200. In addition, we went for the couples massage for an additional $170. It also included a breakfast buffet. Total cost $370 (excluding spa tips). We arrived at 2pm and checked out leisurely at about noon the next day. There was no rush to get us out the door, in fact they encouraged us to take our time and relax. The Inn - A marvelous piece of architecture that Dolores, Jim and Jarrad have done a great job on restoring. The place is immaculate outside and inside. The first floor contains the spa area on one side and the dining area on the other side. The 2nd floor has the guest rooms and they are working on rebuilding/restoring the 3rd floor as well. Everything is very tastefully decorated, clean and spotless, including the rooms, but the dining area is truly special. Plenty of parking in the back. There is a common area that allows you to sit outside on the 2nd floor extended balcony. The Rooms - Clean with everything you could ask for. Good sized bathroom, California king in our room, cable TV and DSL cable for your laptop if needed. Our room had a slight slant to the floor and the walls were a little thinner than normal, but those are about the only things I would question on our whole stay there. Especially since you are not running into a rowdy crowd or a large noisy family (no offense meant) at this type of place. The Service - Check in smooth and friendly. Upstairs, the doorway to the room had a blanket of rose pedals...nice, romantic touch. Jarrad gave us a quick description of where to eat and had water/ice brought to the room quickly. Later, the mineral bath was large and relaxing. Another nice touch - a glass of chilled juice and some sliced fruit was soothing to the palate as we sat in the hot mineral water and the cares floated away. Our first ever couples massages were also well done in a well appointed quiet room on the second floor. Standard massage taking care of -or avoiding- whatever areas we asked for. (People cannot touch the bottom of my feet!) From check-in to the core spa services to breakfast, we felt the staff was just great. The Food - Breakfast was more than just a continental breakfast since there were hot choices like quiche available as well as breads, cereals, fruit and the usual breakfast fare. The dining area as stated before is exquisite and you could picture having a small affair or business meeting there. The Town - you can stroll through the town and a few shops in an hour . There really is not much there. We did stop at the health food store which actually had some good stuff. On the day we were there, the bookstore was closed. There are a few antique shops and a bottle museum and a number of places to eat. After our massages on the first day, we went to eat in Saratoga (10 minute drive, very quick). The next morning we did take a quick stroll through town. I would call it a town in an upward transition, but not quite there yet. It is certainly not an area you have to worry about, it is just a small sleepy town that has hopes of being the next Saratoga, but needs a lot more work. If you are looking for a nice, quiet, clean place with good services and charm, aimed more at couples (or a ladies day at the spa) than families, and if you don't mind the quick drive to Saratoga for a wider choice of restaurants and countless shops and stores, then I would recommend the Medbury for a nights stay and it's spa services. read more

Called 4 times in one week, not one time did anyone answer the phone, left a message each time, also sent a text message per the recommendation on their voicemail message, it is now 2 days later and still no call/text back. As far as the massage itself, I do recommend their massage therapists, however as of late it has been seemingly impossible to simply make an appointment. I was looking for something nice to do for my Love's birthday. I knew I wanted to do a mineral bath, because, hey, why not. After looking at the many options, Medberry had the prettiest looking baths. When I think of mineral spa bath, I'm thinking candles, aromatherapy, something nice to look at. Some other places looked sterile. Like straight out of American Horror Story Asylum. So, it didn't take much convincing to choose Medberry, and I'm so glad we did. I had a reservation for 11am. At about 10:15, I realized I wouldn't be ready, so I immediately called and rescheduled for later day. When we arrived, they bumped up my partners bath to a jacuzzi tub and mood music with aromatherapy. We loved it so much, I brought my Mother for her Birthday and she loved it too. My husband and I came here for our first wedding anniversary. We couldn't have made a better choice! Even though we showed up way past the time we told them we'd be there, we were greeted with a smile. One of the owners, Delores, showed us to our room, congratulated us on our anniversary, and we had a lovely conversation with her before settling into our room. There were rose petals outside our door, chocolates and strawberries waiting for us in our room, and a gift certificate waiting for us that was valid anywhere in town. Our room (The William Clark Suite, I believe) was sparkling clean with a fantastic jacuzzi in the bathroom, we didn't hear a peep from any of the other rooms or the hallway all night, and our window overlooked a courtyard garden. In the morning we went downstairs and were treated to complimentary coffee and tea, which we drank in rocking chairs on the beautiful wooden porch on the second story. A little later on we had a mineral bath in the spa portion of the inn. It was incredibly relaxing, with dim lights and soft music playing, and juice and fresh fruit waiting for us there. This was easily the best hotel experience we've had. We plan on coming back for our second anniversary and many more after that! read more

Was it the worst spa day? No, definitely not. Was it the best? Also definitely no. My husband and I wanted to celebrate our birthdays at the end of December 2017. I booked us a spa day through Groupon for a couples massage and mineral bath. I booked approximately 2 weeks before our service. I read the name of the Groupon to the receptionist and she confirmed that we were a couple (I assumed she did so to confirm only 1 bath would be needed) as well as the genders of our masseurs. She wasn't exactly the friendliest but hey, the appointment got booked! We had some issues getting to the spa due to our vehicle breaking down as a result of weather - I called ahead to let them know we would be 5-10 minutes late, and I made sure to let them know it was because our car had broken down. The woman on the phone informed me that this time would be subtracted from our massages. I was understanding, apologized for the delay and confirmed that we would be arriving ASAP. We arrived right on time but had to wait for a few minutes in their lobby. Not a huge deal, but it did move the delay from us onto them. The massage was great, both employees were personable and attentive. When we were done we were taken back out to the lobby to wait for our mineral bath. The receptionist informed us that we had been booked incorrectly and they could not accommodate the bath today. At this point, I had already told the same receptionist that we had car trouble and would be dealing with that once we were done at the spa. She was not accommodating in any way and basically told us we were done with our "spa day" - until I let her know that if we did not get the mineral bath that was paid for I would be contacting Groupon to let them know that the service did not occur. She snapped at me that if I did so I would be "robbing her employees" or some variation of the same. I let her know I was willing to pay the reduced rate for just the massages, but I was absolutely not going to pay for services we did not receive. At this point she basically stormed away from the desk without another word, leaving my husband and I awkwardly in the front lobby in bath robes, holding our clothes in bags. Another employee let us know she was going to see if any baths were free, found us a place to sit, and apologized for the mix up - well, that probably was the right answer to begin with, so we held our tongues. I tipped our masseurs in cash at this point as I did not want any of their tips to go to the woman behind the desk. We were able to complete our mineral bath because there was a free room (apparently they weren't as busy as they had stated...) but I felt as though we were shamed for an error on THEIR end - if you have a Groupon promotion going (which many people are booking according to other reviews here) why is it my responsibility to ensure that your staff understand how to book the appointment? I had to provide not only the name of the Groupon but also the voucher number at time of booking. If you aren't busy to the point that baths are free, why hassle the customer - why not just run back to see if a bath can be drawn? And, cherry on top, if your customer lets you know they are having a bad day, maybe a little sensitivity should be in order. Long story short, some of the staff are truly wonderful, accommodating, and will do their best to help and make you comfortable. Some seem overworked (although again, plenty of empty baths, and I saw only 2 other customers inside for the duration of our 2 hour experience) to the point of rudeness. Personally, I likely will not return. Day spas are common in this area - if you want to get the customers, you have to earn them. read more

A hidden gem in Balston Spa. The spa is absolutely gorgeous inside; fun, bright and elegant. I purchased a package from Groupon that did not disappoint. When trying to book appointments, they don't answer the phone. The spa is esthetically pleasing and offers tasty refreshments in the waiting area. They should offer 'real' chocolates with their spa packages (like Dove or Ghirardelli), rather than Hershey Kisses, as 'wine and chocolates' were part of the package purchased. The receptionist was MUCH friendlier after her boss arrived on the scene. Before that, she was a bit snippy and seemed irritated by her job, as others have stated in their reviews. I loved the Medbery ever since I first walked in when I was with my mother and I was 7 years old. This Inn and Spa is one of the most comforting, elegant, and remarkable places I have been too. Several occasions I have had the pleasure to meet the owners and they are really great people. Their couples baths are just to die for, at the end of the day you really feel relaxed. I have done the couples bath once before and we had received a very lovely juice cocktail, chocolate covered strawberries and I believe something else but I can't quite remember. From when I first walked in until today I still go to buy many people in my family gift cards so they can enjoy themselves as I do. read more

I purchased a couples massage through Groupon for a great price. The massage therapists were wonderful. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. The downfalls I will say are that my husband and I showed up 15 minutes early to be greeted not so nicely. The receptionist made us feel uncomfortable, as if we weren't good enough to be there. Her personality did change though when she told us that one of our masseuses was running a bit behind, almost apologetic. Well, our messages didnt actually start until 12:50, our appointment was for 12:30. And we only got 45 minute massages. 15 minutes is 15 minutes. The card never came in the mail, yet our payment was processed. The owner adamantly refused to issue a refund and never once offered to replace the card or apologize. Do Not Go Here! This is the worst place ever to have a spa. My sister and I​ were in a share spa room having what we thought was a massage together but I was the only one that got a massage. The person doing hers did not know what she was doing at all. She did not apply any pressure and was very awkward​ with everything she attempted to do. My guy was actually great, ​fortunately​!
