Frankly, I was quite a bit more impressed than I thought I'd be. That is because, going in, I was sort of, eh, agnostic on the prospect that I would get a LOT out of the experience. I was wrong. I did. In general, the way I thought about my life during the meeting was remarkable. Simply because of the nature of the process, you are almost forced to do some real reflection on paths you're on, have been on, and may be on, and doing so becomes the catalyst that gets the realization and interpretation chemicals smoldering up nicely. We began with a general overview of my past, present, and future, a sense of the whole of my life thus far. Soon, Julia had me nodding in recognition at behavioral patterns the cards she was laying down seemed to indicate--patterns that I realized were more ingrained than I had thought. At the same time, I smiled in the knowledge that, having been seen with new eyes, these ingrained, often harmful, ways of being in the world could now be more easily dealt with, or at least attacked with renewed vigor. As the session went on, there was also a sense of an alliance being formed between myself and Julia against forces negatively arrayed against my life--forces often, of course, arrayed by me. Julia's warm encouragement to expand more on a given issue (she complimented me for having what she sensed to be a strong intuition, and stressed the wisdom of embracing it) led to, as more cards were laid out, and their meanings explained, a keen discernment by her of seeing even larger, more fundamental issues in play. Sometimes the things that hold us back can grow so large that they are, counter-intuitively, overlooked, so it is quite useful to have a fresh pair of eyes like Julia's in your corner. She nailed at least a couple of issues I had going on to the wall. For example, as she named the following problem area of getting and keeping my stuff together (not her words, ha) as an obstacle, it became starkly, almost gaspingly clear to me that my penchant (some might say "passion"!) for being disorganized was indeed getting gigantically in the way of life goals. More importantly, we saw it as a symptom of something in even greater need of remedy. Julia seemed to not "steer" me towards a particular insight or solution, but would simply ask questions after the cards were laid down in such a way that I found I was coming up with valuable answers myself. Along with sharper questions--also very valuable. And of course coming up with them myself means the lesson has more impact and longevity than someone "informing" you about yourself. But, while she did very impressively facilitate an analysis of past and present circumstances, informing you about what may lie ahead is firmly in Julia's wheelhouse. In this phase of the meeting, she cautioned against my being taken advantage of, within the next two years, in the areas of work and love. I have some ideas about how that might happen, and I'm glad she nudged me to reflect on them. I will try to keep my wits--and heart--about me! One of four planned trips within half a year will also possibly fall through, I was advised. Hope not, but we shall see! Again, because of her crackerjack communication skills, sound interpretation-based guidance, and overall benevolent aura, my consultation with Julia was, for this somewhat unsure newcomer to the tarot tradition, a solidly valuable experience. I have discovered that she is also a renowned poet, as well as an author of books focusing her related interests of tarot and the great poet Sylvia Plath. My session was done over Zoom, though she offers phone and in-person consultations as well. Ours was an hour, but briefer durations can be chosen. If a Zoom session is chosen, and if it is possible to do so, making a recording of the session is encouraged. You will want to revisit the conversation at the very least one time, and be reminded of the insights gleaned, the wisdom gathered, and the goodness felt, as Julia is smart, funny, relatable, and compassionate. Her flowing commentary as she lays cards down, and her instant readiness to answer questions about them also make for this being a very enjoyable way to go into this as a client, for either the first or 101st time. Wherever her sight may come from, it is keen, and worth seeing in action.

So basically I had no idea what to expect. First off, I think Jas has the perfect temperament for tarot reading, as she's kind, intuitive and listens well. We each took turns with her pulling cards individually, and I waited a few turns to let others go first... not out of politeness, out of nervousness haha. It doesn't seem like something to be nervous about but it can potentially uncover some vulnerabilities and leave you feeling open, which is GOOD but definitely new in this setting. She did what she did and read me like a book. Some positives and supportive observations mixed in with some constructive things (i.e., I need to breath, and it just so happens this Zoom fell during one of the most particularly stressful periods I've had this year so far). I feel like if she's this good in the virtual setting, she's probably even better in person. My specific topics were general and a splash of career. My overall recommendation is to try this and book it, even if you have no idea what to expect. It's fun, informative, and a unique way to gain some insight that is tough to unearth on our own.

Jas was very friendly and excited to be on our call. She did a great job explaining the experience and a little about herself before we got started. The format for the readings were volunteer-based. Whoever wanted to go next just let Jas know. She asked us each which topic we would like to focus on. The three choices were: general, love, and career. As we selected our topics, she impressed me by her ability to read our energy, virtually. To be honest, I was a little nervous to try out my first tarot card reading. She used a moon deck and I really had no idea what to expect. I chose general and career for my topics and Jas hit the nail on the head. Going off my energy and her card reading, she was able to help me understand my spiritual side a bit more. She pulled three full moon cards for me! This was wild to get three full moons and I learned that the things I have been stressing over are coming to fruition very soon. Also, I learned that I may need to jump out of my comfort zone to aid in that. I found this so relevant to my current situation!
