But they make up for the size with the mirrors covering the ceilings! That was my favourite part about Manly Lodge, the mirrored ceilings. That, and the bunk beds! Who doesn't love bunk beds? Aside from which, it's located a stone's throw from Manly Beach, almost right on the water, which is really a great place to stay if you want to go exploring now and again. They also have a ping-pong room in which I spent many an hour schooling my dad in the ways of table-tennis. All this, for a very affordable price! I would stay here again, if the opportunity arises. Just sayin'.

At first it didn't look like much, just an old cruddy pub in the suburbs (though a pretty fancy suburb), however when I stepped out the back into the beer garden the atmosphere did pick up somewhat. Then again, a decent beer garden always adds something to a pub, and this one was no exception. They also had some pretty nice craft beers on tap as well, which also added to the charm of the place.

When asked for assistance, the staff either didn't have a clue about what was going on upstairs or treated us like idiots. So, we find the bar serving the pizza. Turns out that the entire main room is booked for various groups, and the only open seating is in a small, sub-room known as 'the Snug' - honestly, it ended up so packed with people, I would have closed the entire room for the various private events. We honestly felt uncomfortable being there, but were tired and hungry, so we stayed. I wish we'd gone. The pizza menu comprises of roughly 5 pizzas, and only one is vegetarian - a margarita. The kitchen did agree to rmove meat from a prawn and capsicum pizza, so we ordered two. The pizza was terrible. The cheese was so liquid it was like bechamel sauce, and the pizza toppings were boring. It was sloppy mush and so very disappointing that it will be a very, very long time before I venture in for anything more than a cold drink.

My order was never…read moregiven to the kitchen until after my fellow dinners had placed, received and eaten theirs. 3 times I asked where my order was and was told it was being made and that the kitchen was busy. My order had its own order number but it took over a hour for them to realise it had not been given to the kitchen. Totally unacceptable.
