I was searching for a place online that offers Yoga Nidra and The Mindfulness Center was one of the few that I found. The location of the building is not difficult to find, but once you enter the building, make sure to go upstairs, not downstairs. You can't miss it once you begin heading upstairs. I paid $20 for a drop-in fee, and the class was fantastic! The instructor is experienced, especially in Yoga Nidra, and I left feeling relaxed and refreshed. They have plenty of blankets and bolsters to make your session comfortable. The studio is beautiful with large, glass windows allowing natural light into the studio. I intend on taking this class in the future, and looking into their other offerings, too! *Note: my visit was Pre-COVID-19 (January I think). read more

I took a few great classes here at The Mindfulness Center. The classes are very affordable and they offer great package deals for new customers. My qigong class was relaxing and the yoga classes vary in intensity. I am a bit out of practice so gentle yoga is okay for me. The multipurpose room is huge and the wood floors are clean, which is great for asthmatics like me who are allergic to dust. Their website describes the classes very well. If you take a weekend class, parking is FREE in the public garage just down the street (not directly across from the studio). You can even visit the Sunday Farmers' Market on Elm Street, or be bad like me and grab a couple of macarons at Cacao's after burning off all those calories. I'm bad, I know. read more

The Mindfulness Center is like my second home. I have been a member since 2013 after I left a job in DC (which had a gym and yoga instructors). I joined initially because of James Foulkes, whom I knew, one of the great yoga instructors and healing arts practitioners there. Not only are they nice and affordable, but they deliver. I am able to see amazing results on my body and health after attending their yoga, meditation, qigong and other classes, workshops and certain individual healing sessions in various modalities. I also love the beautiful studio there with its large glass windows, mirrors and always perfectly clean wooden floor. In addition to a competent and friendly team, the place also benefits immensely from - and would not be what it is without - its highly educated founder and president, Dr. Deborah Norris, whose passion for mindfulness and healing arts equals her scientific pedigree and her sense of ethical leadership. read more

The owner, Dr. Norris, has profound knowledge on all subjects pertaining to alternative medicine, as well as all services offered at TMC. Love The Mindfulness Center! Just coming home from going on a yoga/well was retreat with them. So glad I came and it was so nice to hang out with everyone - such a great group of people. Very diverse in age and profession. Everyone attended for different reasons. A few couples came with us, friends, older, younger, men and women. Several are regulars attendees of the classes offered by the center. It's like one big family. Personally, the trip was much needed and the focus wasn't solely yoga - it was wellness and enjoying everything about Costa Rica. It's a true testament to The Mindfulness Center and those who run it. I finished class three of three last night, thanks to an awesome deal through the washingtonpost.com Capitol Deal. I was able to get three classes for $20 which was a great way for me to try Yoga and Pilates, which prior I had never done...not even a video. I really did enjoy the classes, and discovered I am more of a Pilate's person, it just feels like more of a workout to me. It's hard for me to 'shut everything off' during Yoga, which I know is part of the struggle. Anyways, the location is great in Bethesda on the Corner by Ri Ra's. There is a garage right there which is convenient also. The one and really only complaint I have about The Mindfulness Center is that it seemed to me like the bulk of classes were offered during the day, that it seems like they are catering to people with a much more flexible schedule. My complaint may just be jealousy disguised, as I secretly wish I was a stay at home something.... The atmosphere was relaxing and clean. They do have mats (which is great if you don't have one or forget yours, as I did yesterday), blankets, blocks, anything you would need. I will be keeping an eye out for more deals, as the location is a little out of the way for me I feel I can justify it with a deal. The prices seemed very fair and on par with other local places, but I think for now I will be sticking with the gym and possibly videos, although I prefer the structure of a class and in my fantasy world I will wake up tomorrow around 10, eat breakfast and take a class mid day...unfortunately it's Friday and until I hit the Mega Millions I will be at work. read more

The Mindfulness Center offers an interesting mix of classes and other services (massage, acupuncture, etc). The location is a bit of a challenge due to parking in downtown Bethesda, and at time I've found that the view out of the huge windows can be distracting during class. The fact that there is only one room for classes also means that people coming to the next class have to wait out in the lobby, which is not particularly large. Space restrictions also mean there is little room for shoes and coats. However, I've greatly enjoyed the class I have attended here. read more

I finally made it here to use my Groupon last week. I have to say, it's pretty neat. The Center is located in an unassuming office building, but the space is exceptionally nice. They have created a beautiful room and the perfect space for a mindful practice. Especially impressive was how sound proof the room was. I could see the cars going by outside the huge beautiful windows, but couldn't hear a thing (until a loud horn honking fest started!). My yoga class was quite nice. A little unstructured, but the teacher walked us through stretches specifically aimed at helping the back pain I've had for weeks now, and they worked, at least for a little while. Nia dance was... interesting. I don't think it's really my cup of tea in the end, but I think it was probably a great if you enjoy nia. Parking was easy in the public garage down the street; there's also a paid garage across the street as well. read more

My favorite studio in Bethesda (& I've sampled 3-4 other big ones in the area). A type of class for every level of yogi, beautiful, airy clean space, and experienced, certified, competent, spiritual teachers, not just 20-somethings who took a course. The pricing is right-on for this region and I've always left class feeling like I got my money's worth. read more

I love coming to The Mindfulness Center! There is something for everyone - yoga, dancing, meditation, acupuncture - whatever you need to relax and become more present to your life at the moment. Among other things, I love Nia classes - a combination of martial arts, yoga and a sensual dance - I feel so reinvigorated and relaxed after the class, and very empowered by the movements and great energy of our instructor Suz. After multiple years of experiencing different centers around the world, this place had to feel the most like home. Incredibly polite & respectful staff that helped me join the class gracefully as I was running 15 minutes late. I visited the Mindfulness Center this weekend for a 2 hour detox workshop. I live in the District but made an exception to check out this studio. It's a very convenient distance from the red line metro stop, which makes it likely I would go back in the future for special workshops, but not my typical practice which I do closer to home. The space itself is immaculately clean, has nice energy, and they have more bolsters, blocks, cushions and other support devices than Ive seen at most other studios. It was nice to practice in a place that focuses on providing all the supports you need to execute poses to strengthen your practice while avoiding injury or protecting sore parts of your body. It was also nice that mat rental is free! Finally, the studio view is lovely with sweeping bay windows that wrap around, and full floor to length mirrors along the interior walls that are essential for improving your practice. The staff was a bit young but very sweet and welcoming. read more

ve been experiencing back pain for roughly 3 months now and I didn't know where to start. After calling to schedule an appointment, the staff at The Mindfulness Center were very helpful at navigating me through their many different services where we ended up deciding chiropractic was the best fit for me. Their chiropractor, John Alloway was the best! After multiple appointments, he has completely relieved all my back pain. Highly recommend! read more

Furthest from mindful!!! After several phone calls to reach out for a massage therapist on my ONLY day off work, I was booked for 90 minute massage. When I arrived the receptionist, who seemed clueless told me I was not on the schedule and did not even offer an apology. I am actually glad it did not work out since the place looks dingy , very dated and stank of dirty feet. Definitely steer away from Mind-Less center!!! read more
