We just returned home from our first yoga retreat with no real yoga experience to begin with! The town of San Pancho is a hidden treasure to behold, filled with culture and kindness, playfulness and humility. The artisans are creative and quality unlike other vacations I have taken. A balanced between luxury and simplicity that I didn't know I needed. The cuisine was delicious and inspiring , made by a lovely couple who catered and curated fresh ingredients and took all the decisions out of our hands leaving us to relish in the the food and fellowship that meals and meaningful gatherings are capable of achieving. I learned about yoga and so, so much more. Breath work, journaling, aromatherapy and healing. Connecting to nature and loosening or grip on things that are not serving. I came to PureFire Yoga on a Wednesday evening, the studio is located literally across the street from a huge parking garage. Parking can be tough in Bethesda, but the parking situation here is great. I was greeted as soon as I entered the studio, the staff at the front desk welcomed me and checked me in through Classpass. As I started to make my way to the locker room, another staff member took the time to quickly walk me through the studio, showing me the cubbies, changing areas, water refill station, etc. I felt really welcome :) The studio is lovely, this is one of the nicest yoga studios I have been to. I love that there is plenty of room to get situated before class. After I dropped my belongings off in the locker room, I walked into the yoga studio. I went to a Foundations class with TanO, I was intimidated by the hour and 15 minute block of class, but a friend had recommended the studio to me and said TanO was great. I really enjoyed his class, the Foundations class really lays the groundwork for you to perfect the basic yoga moves that help you work your way to more complicated moves and positions. TanO is great guiding the class step by step, while checking on each of the students in class to check we were okay. The room was toasty, but not unbearable. I really loved my experience and am actually already signed up for another class with TanO. I would definitely recommend this studio and am super excited to add this to my weekly workout rotation :) read more

PureFire is an incredible community offering hot power yoga classes, Pilates, yin, and workshops on everything from handstands to mental health + are very thoughtful about keeping members connected. Each instructor offers something different for your practice. I love going to Marcus's classes for an intense, structured workout, Christina's hybrid classes for some 26/2 vibes, Jenny and Tracy to improve form (they're both so detailed with cueing!) and Chase has the best energy. I purchased a new student pass and ended up having to cancel the first class that I signed up for because my daughter was sick. I never received a response to my cancellation email and they deducted the class that I could not go to from my three class balance. I also reached out via Instagram and never received a response. I was excited to support this business, but the lack of response is absolutely inexcusable and I feel ripped off and will never attend this establishment. read more

I had not been to this location previously, only to its prior temporary location at barre3. It is a beautiful, clean studio with great, helpful and friendly staff. Nick gave me a tour of the facility and the founder, Marcus showed me the asana rooms. I came because a friend told me about the new "26/2" classes being offered. Bethesda has been without this practice since March 2020 when YogaWorks closed down. I was happy to see some practitioners from the YogaWorks studio including the instructor, David Allen. This is a challenging practice and is 75 minutes long on Saturdays. I am happy that this practice is back in Bethesda so it is more convenient for my commute. The studio has a filtered water bottle filling station and co-ed showers. Definitely the first hot yoga studio that I have visited with co-ed showers! Sign of the Times?! An overall lovely studio! I absolutely love this space. I came here last Wednesday evening for TanO's Hot power yoga class at 6pm and as always his class is so empowering and helps me "reset" and find harmony and balance in a crazy hectic world. Upon entering the studio the front desk staff was so friendly and helpful. She acknowledged that it was my first time at this studio and was eager to answer any questions and to make sure I knew where everything was. The facility's are GORGEOUS and it's clear a lot of love and care went into creating this beautiful space. It's convenient to downtown Bethesda with ample parking garages near by for parking. I love this warm, welcoming hot yoga studio! The studio is clean and spacious with high windows that let in the light. The instructor was encouraging and attentive. The practice was well paced and everyone go at their own comfort level. I especially liked the cold wash cloth she placed on my forehead at the end of the session. I'm impressed with this small, friendly community studio. I am a hot yoga fan and find the instructors and the front desk staff welcoming at Pure Fire. The decor is nice and it's well-maintained. I like the small nature of the place. The instructors are trained in the Baron Baptiste method and you'll get your butt kicked in a good way at this studio. The pace is rapid and you'll be challenged. At the same time, the instructors are not "mean" about their pace and understand when you need a break. read more

The instructor for my class is not listed on their website so I cannot ID him in order to recommend him. He detailed each pose and intention. All staff were friendly. Wow! What an outstanding new studio in downtown Bethesda! My daughter took me to an hour long vinyasa yoga class this weekend at "Vinyasa House". It was just what I needed after the Thanksgiving holiday. The studio's owner, Marcus, is an incredible teacher--He has a positive, upbeat energy that is encouraging and supportive, and pushed me to give my best. He is well known in the DC metro yoga community and I was pleased to be able to finally practice with him. He offered some great adjustments to my down dog and triangle poses that helped me get the most from my practice. An invigorating class--so glad he is sharing his talents close by. I have found hot yoga nirvana in Bethesda and it's at PureFire. It's almost too good to be true but it's true. Lead by Marcus Lee, who founded the place apparently after running Down Dog, it's a cool hip studio full of great teachers, every one one of them, who are kind, accommodating and awesome at their practice. There's parking, (nirvana too for Bethesda) and classes are affordable, at least at the start...worth every minute of the experience. read more

The studio is very clean and there is ample space for changing, both open and in individual rooms behind curtains. The bathrooms were clean. The staff was friendly. The yoga was only ok. I visited multiple times and the sequence was almost exactly the same each time. Some may like this as routine but it felt boring to me. Also, the teacher sped through poses, especially chaturanga, up dog, down dog. The unspoken assumption was that everybody jumps back to chaturanga. That attitude is exclusionary and unnecessary. While the space is great, the quality of yoga is average and not very creative. read more
