I was very impressed by my first visit to Wayside Workshop. For me, stores specializing in Amish furniture usually fall into one of two categories: (1) affordable, but kitschy, country, and not stylish (think "Grandma's cabin"); or (2) high-end, extremely customizable, and VERY pricey (think "Amish Arhaus+"). Wayside Workshop is that rare gem that strikes the perfect balance between offering the quality and style of bespoke furniture dealers while still being approachable both in price and service. Every piece at Wayside reeks of quality (no particle board here!), and even the biggest pieces (like the awesome expanding dining room table I was digging) aren't eye-poppingly expensive. Finally, this review would be incomplete if I did not mention the space itself. Wayside Worship is located in a huge old barn(?) and is exceptionally beautiful inside. Shoppers can explore multiple (open) floors of furniture and home decor, all of which are tastefully decorated with a keen eye for detail. The space is welcoming and warm as soon as you enter, and I'm sure it's absolutely magical at Christmastime. I'm excited to make a second visit then (with my wife - pray for me).

Weekly and Monthly events, friendly staff, a lively community, just some of the many reasons I personally consider Gamer's Haven to be my favorite third space. I've been coming there since 2021, first entered the store during a flesh and blood tournament to pre-order the newest edition of killteam to begin my war gaming journey, and the haven has been there with me every step of the way. I've made new friendships, epic and hilarious stories, and countless of poor financial decisions that I wouldn't take back just because it helped kept the lights on. Do be warned, the previous owner had a "No-Wotc" products policy for reasons too long to explain here, and the newer owners decided to keep it, so if you're looking for D&D or MTG, you won't find it here. Personally, the store doesn't need WOTC anyway. Because of this policy, they've expanded out to different TCGs such as Flesh and Blood, Lorcana, Riftbound, and Uni-Versus. There is also a lively wargaming scene featuring, of course, Warhammer and other GW games, but also Bolt Action, Konflict '47, and Moonstone. There unfortunately isn't much of an RPG scene there at the moment, but private rooms are available to use, and there are groups who regularly meet at the haven for RPG nights. And of course, there is a healthy selection of board games available and a weekly board game meet up in case you need people to play with. Whatever reason you have to escape from reality into the realm of tabletop, the haven has an open spot for you.

First off, my wife felt completely uncomfortable. The owner (or who i presume to be the owner) who "helped" us was staring her up and down the entire time. She felt sexualized and dirty. Instead of making a scene, we exited the establishment with the same gentleman complaining how we left his door open (when we did not btw). If you are a woman, I would suggest avoiding this place like the plague. Second, my friend asked what kind of deal would be given for buying a box of cards. The owner said he would be paying $8 a pack for the full box, same as buying singles. Most establishments would drop by a much larger amount than this. Third and finally, you can barely walk through the place. I am not a large person, but i was struggling to walk through to even browse. One time i was looking at decks of cards, and i was yelled at to get put from behind the counter. Understandable, except for the fact that the entire counter was loaded with boxes of unsold merchandise. One could not tell that it was a counter at all. In case you haven't heard, it's looking to expand and moving soon (staying in Lakewood). I heard to much about the store, but only finally stopped in for Book Crawl event. It was the perfect excuse to visit! AMBIANCE/INVENTORY: One space with bookcases lining the walls. Great lighting and neutral white shelves. You will find so many fun books here - romance (think Emily Henry and beyond), fantasy (think ACOTAR), smut, seasonal reads (like Christmas and fall), YA, and more. I stay pretty addicted to Booktok but I've seen plenty of new-to-me titles here. If you need a book in romantasy genre, it's safe to say you'll find it here. If not, you can also call the store to pre-order. If you're unsure about what to read next, they got you. There is a gumball machine where for 25 cents you can pick a suggested read (and potentially win a prize). Also, dates with a book are $25. I was pretty close to using gumball machine. I think it's such a fun idea! Beyond the books, there are so many cute souvenirs - totes, sweater covers for books, wax melts, cards, and more. I was at the book shop with a friend who is not a fantasy gal. She found so many accessories! So bring along your non-fantasy friends! Also, I'm working on converting her to a fantasy reader! They have a great selection of mainstream romance novels to more niche fantasy novels. It is a rare feat to find a non B&N type bookstore that has items both my fantasy loving boyfriend and my romance loving hearts are happy with, but this is the place. If you find yourself in there with no other customers, you will get the owner's undivided attention to give recommendations and like most indie stores your fellow patrons will as well.

I'm in my autumnal vintage era, and it's one of the better ones I've seen around. STORE/INVENTORY: The store is like Anthropologie meets vintage. Every room is expertly staged with its own mood. There is a manly room with saloon doors leading to the closet full of men's attire, Time Magazines, and eclectic ramble lamps. There is a room resembling a powder room with pink accents full of trinkets and cute clutches. There are also many more rooms and nooks, I won't spoil too many surprises. I gasped with joy entering every part of the space. Inventory is refined. It's perhaps the most impressive selection seen at local vintage shops. Inventory includes lighting, attire (high quality and lovely fabrics), shoes (higher end actually wearable boots), accessories, housewares, house decor, and everything in between. I love that most pieces are actually of high quality and can be worn with pride. Some vintage stores sell too well loved stuff while this store clearly thrives for quality. You'll also find plenty of creations by the local makers such as soaps, candles, and lighting The store does staging and styling by appointment. I don't know the scope of these services. My only disappointment was that the store is not size inclusive. I couldn't find anything in my plus size - XXL, 3X. It is typical of vintage and thrift stores. It's hard to procure this merchandise. PRICES: Prices seem reasonable considering the quality. Clothing is around 20-30 per piece, many items are modern brands. LOCATION: The store is located by the roundabout in Burton. It does not have a storefront sign but you'll find it by the signage inside. There is a cluster of other stores in the area for women's apparel in case you're on a shopping spree. SERVICE: The owner of the store was very friendly. He has sharing a lot of stories about his merchandise which was nice. He mentioned that socks and gloves are popular sellers.
