Perhaps a backdrop screen covering the bar just for this presentation. The food wasn't really good; chicken with a white sauce, no vegetables and rice was not good nor attractive. I suggest you train the wait staff to address guests that napkins are not rags! A young man asked me for "my rag" because he was picking up dishes and glassware. I am a mom, grandmother and realize the young employees & understand they are learning and took no offense but other people may. For me it was funny since he pointed to my lap! We had paid for the smoke machine which malfunctioned the day of the event and got some ugly green confetti thrown at my husband and daughter during the father daughter dance. Nothing having to do with her color scheme. We only received partial refund for that malfunction. I did not make a big deal the day of, because I understand there is no control over that situation but I honestly believed we would get refunded as paid service was not accomplished. There was also a leak right in the middle of the dance floor and it wasn't even raining!! The DJ asked me for all the info which was written on the itinerary to the T days before the event! He even asked for music genre we preferred and what music we didn't want. Well needless to say, it was a waste of time! Music was mediocre! At the time of presentation of court , it was a disgrace! We paid for the margarita/ piña colada machine service, as well as bottle service. I received feedback from our guests that the bartenders were charging for already paid services. The margarita/ piña colada machine broke down with in a few hours our event began. The servers during reception lack costumer service as they were rude to our guests! As if they were serving free food! I truly believed this venue would deliver great service and amazing memories for us but it was disappointing. For the amount of money we paid I'm sure there are better options.

We were advised upon signing the contract that if not all food was consumed during the hours, they would announce there was food left and we could get seconds. We were not allowed to take the leftover food home. They never announced seconds were available like we were advised. We later learned during the dance that not only did we have to ask for seconds ourselves but it could only have been thru a certain time frame. The cake experience was a disaster. They use fantasy cakes which means that it is a fake cake you pose to take pictures with. The entire cake is not real. They only have a few to choose from. I wanted plain ivory round tiers with real roses. I was to supply the roses. I was fine with that. I had to keep reaching out to follow up to see if this could be done. I was told that it had to be a real cake that the "baker" would do. I was fine with it. I chose cream cheese icing. I have pictures of the before and after. The cake was a mess. The one thing my husband was willing to pay over $10,000 for a hall because of the special meaning and they didn't bother to make it look descent. Thank the lord that my friend and mother-in-law were uphauled and fixed it themselves. I have pictures. My mom paid $500.00 for the candy bar as a gift. She was advised that it was for 2 hours and this is noted in the pamphlet. What is not in the contract or pamphlet is that the entire candy is removed and not given to you at the end of the night. The servers took it all away. If it is paid for then, it should have been given back. There was not $500.00 worth of candy on that table. They never announced guests could start to eat candy or needed to stop eating candy. I was in management for one of the major chocolate manufactures that they had on the candy table for years. I not only know the amount of product in each bag whether it's fun size, full size or bite size but also know the prices. I received complaints from multiple guests regarding how the servers did not let my special needs cousin or my elderly uncle and aunt take a candy because they were going to start putting it away. They had not even started to put it away at that time. It felt like they were there to count the candy going out even though it was my candy that was purchased for $500.00. We feel that if the candy is out on display then the guests should be able to help themselves. To think this is supposed to be a special night and they are supposed to be there to help it go flawlessly. I would not recommend this to anyone.

However, there was plenty of beer and liquor we had provided. Did not provide a professional bartender per contract and were not able to provide the two additional servers for the size of our wedding event. DJ did not introduce himself and had alcohol smell prior to the event. We provided an agenda and list of wedding night activities. He was completely unprepared and was not able to professionally do event introductions without us assisting him. He had on going technical issues. The candy table Hall provided was good. We hired a Phot booth ( Mr. PBEP.COM) that also had some technical difficulties. We hired a photographer that was great- Javier All in All great celebration but with a few disappointments.

This playhouse is a thing of beauty. It has little secret rooms, swings made out of tires (no, not that kind, check out my photo) fast and slow slides and carpet around some of the wood beams to protect little (or big) noggins when you forget to duck. I believe her name is Carmen. We had our wedding ceremony and reception here. Everyone employee working during our wedding day was wonderful except Carmen. From the day we toured the venue she gave us the run around. We were constantly Locke sour when we had appointments to be there with our wedding planner. She tried to charge us for things that were not in the contract. She even left the venue locked the day of the wedding. My weddingbegan at 6 and by 4:30 it was locked and my wedding planner was livid b/c they needed to set up but Carmen insisted it was her day off which is unacceptable when we have signed a contract to be there the day of. We signed for a two ticket/guest bar and paid out of pocket upon signing the contract. However, Carmen failed to tell us that we would have an additional tab b/c drinks are worth different amount of tickets. This ruined my husbands mood in the middle of our day b/c we got slammed with a $500+ bar bill when we had no idea this would be happening. We also were made to pay for an additional bartender but both bartenders were under age with zero bar tending experience and only one of the two bartenders were even doing anything. The other simply watched his underage partner attempt to make some poorly made drinks. This was very frustrating and we had to close the bar mid-reception b/c we could not afford this unpredictable expense that was not outlined in our contract. This venue has so much potential and it is gorgeous and everyone except Carmen and the underage bartenders were amazing and helpful. Unfortunately, If Carmen continues with this venue, other events and other people will continue to be disappointed and frustrated on a day that is supposed to be the greatest and happiest day of their lives. Carmen should be released from this company and this company/venue will be capable of so much more.

If you want your party to be flawless I highly highly recommend you hire a planner. Someone that will be on top of everything so nothing gets overlooked. During my ceremony the microphone did not work. Maribel informed me she had asked the groom and officiant to check that the mic was working. I don't believe these duties should be assigned to them specially the groom as he is busy with so many other things the day of the wedding. During the reception we ran out of food. We are still trying to figure out how this happened as additional plates were ordered. I did tell Maribel I would've appreciated if someone notified me so I could've apologized to the guests that didn't receive plates. During the dance I had brought in special lights to be passed out. I did tell a couple of workers at least twice that those lights needed to be passed out during the dance. And they were not. Other nuances happened that I tried to communicate and Maribel's response was that as a bride I should've known and that it was poor planning from my behave. Which maybe it was but also this was my first time getting married so there is no way I could've know and I trusted them since they claim to have events every weekend. And also as a client that is not what I expect to hear. Overall, I think the team tries their best but i do feel communication could've been better. Also, please save yourself the trouble and hire a planner to overlook everything because things will be missed. I forgot to mention I came in Thursday to set up the venue, I offered to put the place cards in their place for dinner and I was told by the young girl with the glasses that the table clothes were not ready and that she could do that. We came back the next day (Friday) and half of our place cards were missing. I am not saying they lost them but I did offer to put them up myself when none of them were missing. I trusted them since they said they handle 30-40 booking at a time. Maribel said a couple of things were missing and but never reached out to me to clarify.

I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone. They do everything in house the food was delicious all my guest really enjoyed it(chicken plablano) and the cake was perfect as well. They include unlimited beer which was a good selling point. Over we were so happy with the venue and everyone had so much fun. Also the location is amazing right in front of the San Jacinto park downtown. 10/10 would recommend
