Whistlestop is located at the end of a dirt road (literally off the beaten trail), so don't be too worried if you wonder if you're going the right way--keep going back the road and it's just over an old rail line. The B&B is the basement of an old farm house and the room is spacious. As Brian mentioned, the room had a queen size bed, couch, working fireplace, pool table, kitchenette, and private bath. The owners, Sherry and Mike, were a delightful couple and we had a chance to peak into their beautifully renovated kitchen and meet their lovable boxer, Lucy. Tons of snacks to pick from, but easily the best were the homemade sticky buns and chocolate chip cookies. Sherry stocked the fridge and pantry with breakfast items for the next day (yogurt, fruit, oatmeal, breakfast bowls). Brian enjoyed a couple rounds of pool while I feasted on several hours of HGTV's "Property Brothers" on the biggest flat-screen TV I've seen in someone's house (60-inch?). The bed was cozy, covered with beautiful colored linens, and I think if you wanted to leave the blinds open, you could wake to a beautiful sunrise amongst the nearby trees. I woke up early Sunday morning to do a bit of reading and enjoy a cup of tea by the fireplace. Perfection. Since we were there in late March, we didn't get to enjoy this amenity, but there is a fire pit so you can make some s'mores (yes, they provide all the fixings for that too). I need to ask Brian when we can go again...it was a great weekend to unplug and just relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of Columbus. (although, they have free Wifi, just in case you need it :) )

Each of the cabins had a game table, fire pit and a hot tub so there was plenty to do in the cabins at night. The cabins were clean, well furnished and had most of the kitchen items we needed during our stay. We stayed in Jackson but most of the full group activities were in Rush Creek, both were perfect for our needs. We had one small AC issue in Jackson and the staff responded promptly and fixed it right away. The bed i slept in was heavenly and I got great sleep each night. Im an early riser so it was nice to have a little path off the back of our cabin, I went for a short hike and happened upon a beautiful wedding venue and some small gardens. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The property is large and fun to wander around. The location is great because you are close to Columbus and to nearby hiking and outdoor recreational areas.

Yes, there is a pool, but it is small and typically has children. This is a resort place. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Give'm a raise but don't raise the outrageous room rate. Would I come back? Yes, I would but would not take the ground level. There are a few other things I would change, but nothing horrible, though the Cafe can go away as I'll never pay for the overpriced items.

As you can see from my photos, CO-19 is approximately 30 feet from the cabin. Without the TV on, you can hear constant traffic even with the door closed. Trying to sit on the porch to relax was impossible because the road is so loud. The cabin is basically as pictured on the website, very homey and comfortable, and the other 3 cabins are far enough from Luna's to allow for privacy. We would have definitely had a wonderful, romantic honeymoon weekend if it hadn't been for the constant noise.

One word for the water.....SULFUR. The water was so bad that it ended up turning all our sterling jewelry orange, and that was bad considering we only bathed twice. :O With all the water treatment options available now and with what you had installed downstairs for water treatment it was too bad about our jewelry and the odor. Hope our jewelry can be fixed! No hand towel rings. There are several places to mount a towel holder by the bathroom sink. Also.... no place to set your toiletry supply bag. Hard for the ladies especially. Lack of dinnerware. Only 2 ceramic dinner sized plates and the rest were tin. Really? Dollar Tree has some really nice ceramic plates for $1 each. Light bulb out on ceiling fan and the whole place is dim so you need all the light you can get. Kitchen would REALLY benefit from light strips under the cabinets. No light at all in shower. Could hardly see to bathe! Also need a lighted vent fan in bathroom. No sponge or kitchen dishrag of any kind to hand wash dishes. Need at least a sponge there and more than just one dish towel. The place was nice enough but not $200 a night nice. Honestly.... this was the most expensive cabin we have stayed in and the least nice, and we have stayed in many cabins. Hopefully you will at least consider our comments to make some improvements. And being that we never received any kind of response from several emails to Doug AND to our comments per above when sent to him, wont be staying here ever again.

I loved the idea of being able to hike around Hocking Hills without having to get in the car. Plus we wouldn't have to compete for solace in nature as the cabin sits on a good number of acres and is adjacent to the state forest. With it being a holiday weekend this access to hiking was a huge driver in our choosing to rent this cabin. I was sold and we rented the cabin from Marco for Easter weekend this year. Four of us stayed in the cabin and our dog Dudley was in tow as well. This cabin was beyond perfect. Was it the newest and most up to date cabin I have stayed in? No, but that was no bother. Did we have to walk down a relatively steep hill to get to the cabin from the parking area? Sure but that was no bother for us. The hospitality we received from Marco was wonderful. It was beyond welcoming and made us feel at ease. For example, there were bowls out for our dog for food and water. She had even placed out a dog towel- which was perfect as Dudley loved the creek that backed up to the cabin. Don't fret, there were plenty of towels for people too! There were welcome notes on the house doors as we arrived. On the table in the kitchen were these beautiful flowers that had been placed out for our enjoyment. It's like she knew that the weekend was a special one for us. The attention to detail on Marco's part was much appreciated. There were little notes scattered throughout that helped answer questions that you might have. Plenty of potable water provided for us, as the water in the house was cistern supplied. We had a chance to talk to Marco a few times during our visit and she is clearly a compassionate, caring, and thoughtful person. As another review mentioned, the line in the house is part of the main line, so it might ring on occasion. It only rang twice in the couple days and two nights that we were there. It was not a bother to us but rather more comforting as it did mean that we had a way to contact someone if we needed help. Don't expect to get cell service out there. :) Oh yeah, and there's no internet connection but hey, can't we all use a few unplugged days? All in all, we were not disappointed with the cabin nor the beauty we found surrounding it. It's an amazing place to take a break from the world. We will definitely the Liquid Light cabin from Marco again.

The suite is all tile floor which was cold but the place was clean. It was a little chilly and we could not figure out how to turn the heat on, but we did not ask. The bathroom was nice. Shower would cycle through hot water and warm water for the showers, which we didn't mind. There is a fridge and a microwave and dishes to use if need be. As the previous review mentioned, there is a shared sliding glass door with the owner's glass art gallery. Her studio was not open to the public or in use at the time of our stay. The phone was also shared and did ring a few times. We did not attempt to use any wifi during our stay. The location has no verizon signal, probably not any cell signal so if you need wifi I'd ask prior to booking. The bed has a topper that I thought was very comfortable, the bed was cute but a little crickety. I did not notice any sulfur smell as the previous review indicated. The place was nothing fancy, but we didn't mind it for the weekend since we spent a lot of time out doing activities. Located close to the region's state parks, down a hilly windy country road. The night sky was amazing. We chose to take one of the host's glass bead making classes. Which we thoroughly enjoyed. She was an awesome teacher/coach. I believe she gave us a discount on the class since we were guests.
