We had our wedding at Monte Bello in June and could not have been happier with how the day went! It was the only venue we actually toured in person and we knew it was it as soon as we saw it. First of all, the outside is absolutely stunning- no matter which way you turn there's a prime photo backdrop. Secondly, the built in bridal and groom suites are amazing. The bridal suite is designed for getting ready with a separate area with mirrors and vanity, built in rod for the perfect wedding dress photo. The grooms suite is the perfect man cave, with a poker table, pool and foosball tables and signed jerseys and guitars hung up all around. The venue also renovated in between us signing and the day of our wedding and they made it even better than I could have ever imagined- a lot more neutral walls for photos and a women's bathroom that was jaw dropping when I saw it for the first time. Throughout our planning process, we worked closely with Abbey who was nothing but helpful and amazing. She was so communicative and always answered my hundreds of questions promptly. Food tasting went swimmingly and the Raise the Bar event (cocktail and wine tasting for signature cocktails and add ons) was so fun. Throughout these events, it was so clear how dedicated the entire team is to making sure we have the best wedding possible. The real tell was the day of the wedding. I've heard that most venue coordinators don't do all that much the day of in terms of helping with third party vendors so that was my expectation going in: I didn't have a wedding planner so I had assigned all my bridesmaids tasks just in case anything needed to be done. Let me just say- Abbey and the other venue staff took care of everything. All the vendors (florist, photobooth rental, band) came and set up seamlessly without me needing to think twice about it. Abbey even helped with coordinating the timing for the professional during the ceremony. We and all our guests had a blast, the food and drinks were amazing. My wedding day at The Monte Bello Estate was beyond words! Everything ended up more beautiful than I could've imagined even with the light rain that day. My venue coordinator Lauren and the whole team last minute changed my ceremony location due to the rain and set everything up in a new spot outside by the clock tower so my guests would be able to walk on concrete and not the wet grass. That is the upside of choosing this venue, it is so large there are so many options and no matter what it will be beautiful! My guests raved how delicious the food was, I had multiple guests the next day and even weeks after telling me it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding! Our signature cocktails we chose were a hit and our guests enjoyed them throughout cocktail hour and the reception! Lauren our venue coordinator eased all my stress the day of and she was so attentive to me and my family. After the ceremony the venue had mine and my husbands favorite drinks on standby and a tray of appetizers for us. My mom even wanted a different white wine from what they were serving and they grabbed it for her right away! Before the wedding day the venue even does events so you can have your food tasting and then a separate day to experience their signature cocktails and desserts and see the add-ins you can include for your wedding day. The guest bathrooms were just remodeled as well and made a great backdrop for my guests to take pictures in! The reception space, the big glass windows, and the landscaping made for a perfect day that we will always remember! I went to a wedding her a few months ago in summer 2024. The property was so gorgeous and such a beautiful place to get married. I feel like I want to write this review to help the venue. As a guest I thought it was such a stunning place but a few upgrades need to be done. First, the chairs are so outdated and need to be upgraded. Such a beautiful place they need to update them. The flooring in the dining area also looks pretty ancient and doesn't match their cocktail lounge. Lastly, the dance floor was too small for such a large venue. That's definitely needs to be looked at. But overall it was such a wonderful wedding to attend. I only felt I wanted to right this is because we looked at this venue as well for my daughters wedding and that was our deciding factor why we didn't choose to have the wedding there. This venue is a fairytale come true!! Every detail from the house, to the decor, to the lovely prairie is mesmerizing! The first time we visited took my breath away! I love how personal we made it and the space allowed for endless possibilities. Our guests were beyond impressed with the venue, with our wedding coordinator (Sarah), and with the FOOD!!! A huge bear hug for Sarah! We had some scheduling issues and the way she still kept us on track was incredible. To make a COVID bride happy is nearly impossible, but I couldn't be more happy with the outcome! My biggest tip if you have the ceremony at the venue is to get early access because you'll want all the prep time you can get. This is a very unique way to celebrate your big day!! We want to start off by saying that The Monte Bello Estate was the first, and ONLY, venue we visited when selecting a wedding venue. As soon as we pulled up we knew we were someplace special. This venue somehow combines rolling green hills, beautiful trees, and a beautiful estate and as soon as you pull up you will quickly understand how stunning The Monte Bello is. We met with Lauren for our tour/meeting and she made our decision even easier! Lauren is incredibly nice, informative, and helpful, and she remained that way throughout our entire wedding planning process. She really is the best and we made sure to tell the owner of The Monte Bello the same thing towards the end of our wedding when he popped in to see how everything was going. Beyond the amazing grounds and staff, the estate itself is absolutely gorgeous. They had made some renovations to the estate, reception area, and bathrooms prior to our wedding and all the updates they made were a 10/10. We had our ceremony in the "forest" location, which was amazing, with a champagne/water station for guests to grab a drink on their way to get seated. The reception was inside and all of our 200+ guests fit perfectly (shoutout Lauren for being so helpful with arranging the tables and making the most of the space!). We have received so many compliments on the food and drinks, whether it was the hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, dinners, desserts, or our wedding cake, everything was outstanding. We really can't recommend The Monte Bello Estate enough. It is such a beautiful venue, there's no way you would ever regret having your wedding here. Throughout planning, I received so many praises about the venue, food, drinks etc so I knew I was in good hands, however, I never expected them to surpass my expectations the way they did. I would joke to my friends that I never heard Abbey and staff tell me "no" to anything - it was always "yes, we can do that!" I received compliments on the food, drinks, and serving staff. While I fell in love with Monte Bello in January 2022, they underwent renovations before my wedding and made the venue even more beautiful than before. We especially enjoyed the updated bridal suite (with balcony!!), gorgeous bathrooms, and additional patios. We had our wedding at the Monte Bello Estate this past May. The entire experience was great and I couldn't recommend the venue more. Abbey was the venue coordinator we worked most closely with and she was very professional and helpful throughout the process. She was also extremely patient with all of the questions my mom threw at her! The grounds are beautiful and the weather was PERFECT! We could not have asked for a better day. They were also very accommodating with allowing our dog to be a part of the wedding. We've received many compliments since then about how beautiful and fun our wedding was. I only wish that the outdoor bar area would have been finished in time for us to utilize it because I've seen the new pictures and it looks great. I truly can't find the words to describe how amazing it was to have our wedding at The Monte Bello Estate. It was a no brainer once we went to tour the property but the thing that made it even more magical was getting to work with their amazing team. Everyone was SO helpful from the get go - especially Abbey. They were quick to respond to our endless questions, helped us navigate having to move our wedding date and were beyond helpful the day of (especially since we had to make a last minute call on indoors or outdoors due to rain). Abbey and her team made everything run so smoothly that both my husband and I had zero worries the week leading up to our wedding and the day of. She made us feel like VIPs and was constantly checking in to make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying ourselves. Overall, we had a great experience and a dream wedding at The Monte Bello Estate. Many of our guests commented on how special and beautiful the space was. We were also able to capture lots of one-on-a-kind pictures on the grounds. We had to move the cocktail hour at the last minute due to rain but there wasn't any impact to our timeline or guests' experience. The servers, bartenders, etc. were also all great and made sure the bridal party and family were well taken care of. The team was easy to work with, we started planning with Sara, then worked with Abbey, and finally worked with Courtney for the day of. Everyone was very responsive to email questions and special requests (for example, we asked to bring in a custom sweet table, a tradition with Greek weddings). The Monte Bello Estate is a wonderful venue. It is a private estate that sits on about 55 acres of land. The space and grounds are well maintained by the staff they have. Since this location had many names, and many owners I was happy to see that the latest owners were making very nice improvements to modernize the space. The bridal suite is a girls dream! I had to deal with 3 people while I was being contracted. Out of the three I had to deal with Suzanne is by far the best! She is responsive, action-oriented and genuine. Sara was definitely hired because daddy owns the location, but she is in no way qualified to run the space. Very flaky, forgetful and needs a lot more guidance on event planning and execution. She wrote our wedding date wrong when we first signed. Lord. Very nice but not qualified. Abbey is very organized, professional and structured. I had to call her out many times on inconsistent contract details, the dance floor placement, lack of a floor plan, no actual wine vendor list, etc. She remained professional but I think she quickly realized that they needed a refresh on their contract. We got into it via email a few times but I think moving forward she will make an effort to know her brides and grooms to make the process a little smoother. Suzanne is wonderful. She always made sure we were in lock step on the day, agenda, vendor flexibility, and really wants to make it the day of our dreams! A true gem out of the bunch! Ali. The in-house chef is a doll. Her and I had to speak because my venue coordinator could not communicate properly. Our breakfast for dinner inspired meal was delicious. Our guests raved about the wonderful attention to detail that the chef paid. Only negative I had was some bruised fruit but as a bride and groom it would have been nice to have a plate warmed in the back. The groom suite needs a major overhaul on furniture but the space is fun for a man cave. It does have a mildew smell. The reception space is beautiful. Obviously a huge concern is tents and water. We had to buy glade plug ins for the day before and if the wedding since there is definitely mildew or mold inside that rug. They need to level the floor in the entry and if it rains the carpets near the doors are soaked. The outdoor patio, and fire pit are lovely. The cocktail outdoor space is not lit up so if you plan to have guests outside you need to arrange for lighting. Overall, this location is a 5. I only gave a 4 due to the frustrating experience I had with a few of the venue coordinators. There is great flexibility with vendor selection which is awesome!! All of ours were great!! I hope Monte Bello continues to use them for future events. Our day was a dream come true. Our photographers captured such an elegant evening and all of our guests loved the space. I am reviewing this establishment as a guest to a wedding. This venue was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, we were unable to attend the ceremony outside, so I couldn't see the garden area. The inside was very nice although a little small. The decor was beautiful and I believe that was a combination of my cousin (whose wedding it was) and the actual establishment since cocktail hour was in the main part of the house. The staff attended to the guests and there were always appetizers flowing during the cocktail hour. The food was amazing. They had beef wellington and this candied date appetizer. For our entree, I chose the steak and it was delicious. It was tender and flavorful with a delicious mashed potato side dish to go with it. At the reception, they have a fire pit if you want to leave the hustle and bustle of the dance floor which is such a nice option in summer or fall. I would love to come back to see the outside and how that looks. Not sure how much it costs for a wedding, but it was lovely being a wedding guest here. read more

Extremely disappointed in our experience with Monte Bello. We have been in communication with Courtney, one of the event coordinators, regarding potential dates for next summer for the last two weeks. She indicated that they were currently holding 2021 summer dates for couples affected by covid in 2020 (totally understandable!!), but that 2021 dates would open up again for new potential couples to book at the end of June. She scheduled a tour with us for 6/30 given this, and drafted an event proposal for our desired dates. We called her again on 6/28 (two days before our scheduled tour) to see if dates had opened up within the last two weeks, and inquire if the hold had been lifted. Courtney was extremely vague on the phone, but again indicated that they would have more information regarding available 2021 dates when we came to visit on the 30th. Given this was our number one choice of venue, we cancelled other venue tours we had previously scheduled for 6/30, took off of work, and drove for over an hour (from Arlington Heights) to get to Lemont. When we arrived, Courtney greeted us at the door by immediately telling us there are absolutely no available dates (fri, sat, or Sunday) for 2021 until November - then said we can certainly book for 2022 if we wanted to - knowing very well what our desired dates were. She then asked if we still wanted to take the tour. We were extremely caught off guard and confused by this news. We figured we'd at least be given some sort of heads up that none of our desired dates were available before we came in for a tour? When asked why she did not communicate this with us ahead of time, Courtney refused to provide us with a clear answer and just continually repeated "our calendar is ever changing." After refusing to answer any follow up questions, she finally indicated (vaguely) that they have 4 different calendars going right now (what?). She also simply nodded when asked if they're extending their hold of available dates for 2020 couples now, instead of opening them up at the end of June as she had previously stated. Essentially, she would not clarify any information regarding when 2021 dates would be open again for new couples to book, stated there is absolutely no "wait list" despite the challenges presented with covid, and said she also would not call us if any dates did become available. Instead, she said we were welcome to call every day to see if anything has opened up. Moreover, Courtney also refused to provide us with any contact information for a manager or higher up that we could speak with to get any clarification. With all of this being said, I completely understand venues needing to hold spots for 2020 couples impacted by covid, and cannot even begin to imagine how difficult of a position that wedding venues are currently in. We certainly respect and appreciate the unprecedented circumstances we are all navigating. We were well aware of this reality going into our venue search (especially that we are looking for summer 2021 dates) and have been more than willing to be flexible for a venue we loved. However - We have also met with multiple other venues this week who have been beyond forthcoming, flexible, and communicative regarding their standing and position with available 2021 dates and covid overall. Knowing how much we loved Monte Bello, we were hopeful that our experience with them would be similar. Unfortunately, I feel like the lack of communication and vague responses and refusal to provide ANY sort of information just conveyed a lack of respect for us as potential clients, and significant unprofessionalism. Coming from a venue that has nothing but outstanding reviews, I was personally very shocked and disappointed in the way this situation was handled by their staff, specifically Courtney. I would LOVE for a manager or owner to reach out to provide some sort of clarification - Not only given that we spent our entire day planned around touring this venue, but also the fact that we have now forfeited available dates for two other possible venues due to the false hope provided to us for the last two weeks. read more

The Monte Bello and Abbey specifically are amazing! Abbey was my point of contact at the Monte Bello and she was able to keep my stress levels down and still help put on the best day of my life. There were no issues, that I heard about or could see, the food was fantastic and the venue was impeccable. I want to specifically touch on the food- one of the main reasons why I had chosen The Monte Bello Estate is because they have two working kitchens on site that produce food on an industrial high end scale for their events. I have two severe food allergies, dairy and gluten, Abbey and The Monte Bello Staff went above and beyond to ensure that I had safe food to eat for my big day. They also took it a step further and made sure that any guest with food sensitivities or allergies were also all taken care of. My husband and I had our dream wedding at the Monte Bello Estate. The Monte Bello is really a perfect venue, it is spacious and gorgeous and feels like you are at a garden mansion estate. You can choose to get married outside or inside, and they have a beautiful glass tent for the reception. They are constantly making improvements to the venue; in the year since we booked, they added chandeliers, an outdoor bar, among other improvements. We looked at 12 other venues in Chicago, but we could not get close to this amount of space in the city. The staff at Monte Bello were incredibly responsive and kind through the entire year, although we knew they had so many weddings before ours. They answered all of our messages promptly, and welcomed us warmly to the venue multiple times when we came to show it to our families or needed additional planning meetings. I also loved all the add ons they had to make your event more personalized, we added on s'mores and yard games, and our guests raved about both activities. The day of the wedding, we knew that the staff was there making sure things ran smoothly, but I also appreciated that they trusted us to take care of the space and we mostly in the background. It made it feel like we owned a mansion for the day. Sara and Abbey were especially amazing and made the whole experience stress free, I highly highly recommend the Monte Bello and need one of my friends to get married there so I can go back! read more

We did not hire a wedding coordinator, we had that with Abbey. She was there for us whenever we needed her, and she did everything in her power to accommodate any request we had for her. As a bride, it is difficult to be in control on the day of your wedding all you can do is trust that things will turn out as you had planned when you arrive at your venue. With Abbey and the Monte Bello team, I didn't have one worry on the day of my wedding. I knew when I arrived at Monte Bello, things would be set up exactly as I had imagined & it ended up that things turned out more perfect than I ever could have dreamed. Our pictures are absolutely breathtaking thanks to the venue's vast landscape and impeccable grounds. Our 200+ guests had enough space to enjoy the outdoor cocktail hour, explore and relax in the various rooms of the house, and did not feel cramped at their tables during dinner. Almost a month has gone by since our perfect day, and our guests are still talking about how blown away they were by our venue. We keep hearing things like "That was the most beautiful venue I have ever been to!" and "That was the best meal I've ever had at a wedding!" We had our wedding at the Monte Bello Estate in September 2019 and it was INCREDIBLE!!! Abbey was our coordinator and we loved working with her and all the staff at the Monte Bello. She was knowledgeable, responsive, helpful, easy to work with and kind. We had the use of the full mansion and grounds from noon until midnight and we took full advantage! The bridal suite and groom suite are both amazing and very different. There was plenty of space to get ready in both and take some pictures. The interior of the mansion and the grounds are just beautiful and well taken care of. We were married under the gazebo on the grounds and we took all our wedding photos there as well. Our photographs are incredible, and we will cherish them forever. Abbey made sure that all the details of our wedding went smoothly. She personally went above and beyond to make sure that our guests that needed a little extra assistance received it. We will always be grateful for this. The meals that we selected were delicious, our guests still talk about how tender their steak (or chicken) was and how it could be cut with a butter knife. When my husband and I first saw Monte Bello during our venue search, we immediately knew that this was where we wanted our wedding to be held. From the very start, Abbey was absolutely amazing! Monte Bello was hands down a perfect wedding venue. It had everything we were looking for and the day turned better than we could have imagined. We worked with Courtney in planning our wedding and she was beyond helpful. One of our favorite things about the venue was the idea of the outdoor cocktail hour since we wanted our guests to be able to enjoy the beautiful grounds. We had some rain the morning of our wedding, but rather than moving cocktail hour inside immediately, Courtney waited until the last possible moment to make a decision in case the weather cleared up- and it did! We were able to have a perfect outdoor cocktail hour. Monte Bello made all of our wedding dreams come true. We had our wedding reception at Monte Bello in August 2018 and it was flawless. The team at Monte Bello, specifically Abbey, was SO great to work with. We rented the venue for the whole day so we could get ready in the bridal suite/groom suite. It's important to know, if you are renting it for the whole day that means beginning at 9:30 a.m., they were accommodating and allowed us to come at 9:00 a.m. but if you need more time to get ready in the morning you may want to get ready elsewhere. The bridal suite was a dream to get ready in. The groom suite is so fun and made for some great photo ops. We went off site for the ceremony for religious purposes but if I could have had the ceremony on the grounds I absolutely would have. The grounds made for gorgeous photo opportunities. The food was shockingly delicious. We had a tasting a few months before that was very well organized and we were a little underwhelmed by the food at that time but the night of it was delicious and we had multiple people comment on how good it was. They were also very accommodating to dietary restrictions and made sure everyone was fed. They did have some limitations on how flexible they could be with the beer they offered without charging additional fees, but we made it work. If you are specific on your alcohol, you may want to talk to them up front and understand what fees would be associated with getting the types of alcohol you wanted. Our reception sat 255 people, while it was just a little tight, I would not go too many people above that, it was perfect for us. We asked the staff to collapse two tables after dinner to open up more room for the dance floor and they were accommodating - no one noticed. Abbey and team were always responsive to all my questions leading up to the day, and the day of they made sure every detail was perfect.
