For The Morgan the location is the selling point. It lies in the heart of Temple Bar and has easy access to great bars, music, and all that Dublin's nightlife has to offer. But while close to the action, it is far enoug h major roads to limit traffic sounds. The hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable, and ambiance chic and modern. We stayed three days total, but broken up throughout the week as we toured the country. The service was not the best I've ever had, and in fact, I received better service at much cheaper accommodations. First, the front desk was limited to usually one staff member, and especially during high traffic periods, i.e. checkout. But the biggest service faux pas was when we arrived at the hotel at 9pm (after a long day of touring) and they had given our room away. The room was reserved several months ago and paid in full. The staff halfheartedly apologized that a large party came in and they needed to accommodate this group with our room reservation. So as recompense, they offered to pay for our stay in another hotel. They offered to pay for the cab, but then we waited over 45 minutes for its arrival. Perhaps the biggest question is why they could not refer the other guests to another hotel? Or maybe call us in advance and ask if we could go directly to the other hotel? So all in all, I would reconsider staying here again, but I would like a promise of better service. read more

The room was very comfortable; the shower and products were great. The reception folks were delightful. Breakfast choices were vast from hot to cold; oh, and delicious. Service here is really odd. They don't make up your room unless you put a sign on your door requesting them to do so. Breakfast service seem surprised by asking for salt and pepper. There really aren't servers at breakfast but hostesses. They have a very central location and rooms are fine but noisy being Temple Bar area. read more

In a word: OVERPRICED. We tried to make arrangements at another hotel with openings 2 doors down, but never got the confirmation. When we arrived, that hotel, which I stayed in & quite liked in 2007, was full. We went to the Morgan & it was double. DOUBLE. My husband, exhausted & sensing my exhaustion after a long drive from Mulranny following a night in which I'd slept horribly, persuaded me to stay there, insisting it would take forever to find something cheaper. I knew better but was too tired to argue. The woman at the front desk offered to include breakfast for our 2 night stay, which was nice (though we discovered we could only take them up on it one day, as we had to leave for the airport before breakfast started at 8 Sunday). The location is great, and the room surprisingly quiet for the booming music & large crowd in the swanky modern bar downstairs. The breakfast was decent as well. However, for being the most expensive hotel room I'm stayed in (including another in Dublin, as well as a boutique hotel in Chicago and a hotel in Manhatten), I was expecting it to really be something. What it was was a smallish, all-white, but pleasant room that looked chic at a glance, but with a closer look was a little sub par. First, there was a big brown stain on the cream-colored rug. There was also a white wingback chair that wasn't truly white or covered in a proper chair cover, but rather only had the surfaces covered in white fabric so you could see the sponge edges of the cushion. The final badness is the lack of ventilation in the bathroom has led to some serious ceiling mold. That's not just a cosmetic problem; that's potentialy dangerous. Additionally, they are not super technologically advanced. There appeared to be internet access through the TV, but the keyboard in the room was without batteries. They did advertise free wifi, so we called down for login info & they had to call us back with it. It was incorrect, so we called back &, again, they had to call us back with the info. Then my husband's account (temp password for the free wi-fi) was cancelled sometime Saturday evening, even though our checkout was the next day. We called down to get a new one and, of course, they had to hang up and call back. Only, there was never a call back. If this had been a 75 or 100 euro per night hotel, I'd have fewer issues (aside from the mold). When The fees are over 150 euro, I expect the room to be clean & the service to be excellent. Booked this hotel through Priceline.com for the last night of a vacation to Ireland. Our flight from the US to Ireland got cancelled and there were no timely alternative flights, thus our vacation got cancelled. We tried cancelling our reservation over a week in advance via Priceline but they said we needed to contact The Morgan and get approval from them. So we tried contacting the hotel and they refused to work with us. Their policy was that since we did not book directly with them they cannot cancel our reservation and that we needed to contact our booking company. We explained what Priceline had told us and The Morgan refused to give us the cancellation approval. Their policy was, "You need to talk to your booking company." read more

We stayed on the O2 package which includes a selection of Tapas, a glass of wine and Breakfast. On arrival, we were upgraded to a suite which was a nice surprise and they added a complimentary cocktail to our deal. The suite was very nice, spacious and situated away from Fleet Street which can be noisy at night. We wanted the food outside the normal service time but they were very obliging and said it was no problem whatsoever. The Tapas were a small plate, average and the choice of wine limited - just one white or 3 reds, and not the red wine. We ordered more food and wine but I wouldn't go for their Tapas again. The meat was dry, the other food frozen and fried. The limited wine options may have been due to it being a Wednesday night and either they were low on options or weren't inclined to start opening bottles mid week. The cocktails were excellent, however; I'd recommend the Porn Star Martini, but a bit pricey at €12.50 each, I was glad it was free! The service was excellent and attentive but then it got a little busier and we had to chase down the bill. We left a good tip for the hardworking, accomodating waiter. The bed was very comfortable and I was glad to finally get into it. We opted for a lie in rather than breakfast. Check out was fast and parking overnight at Fleet Street Parking was reduced to €18 for 24 hours with a validation from the hotel. Re. complaints about noise, it is the city centre, Temple Bar and a nightlife hotspot so noise must be expected. I lived in Temple Bar for 4 years so if you want to be central, you couldn't ask for a better location. The fire alarm went off in the morning which gave us a jolt but it was a false alarm. The staff were all very nice, it was a very central location and the overall experience was a pleasant change from some of the other hotels I've used in the city on nights out (Clarence, Trinity Capital, Clarion). We couldn't sleep and a friend on the first floor had it the worst. If the awful music didn't wake you, the drunk patrons flooding the streets or roaming the hallways would. Never again. The Oxford English Dictionary has a few definitions of the word 'swish'. Two of which are appropriate for this review of The Morgan; as an adjective 'swish' means "impressively smart and fashionable" and as a verb it means "aim a swinging blow at something". So what I give with one hand I take with the other. SWISH! The Morgan is a classy looking bar and serves a good cocktail. The staff are very attentive but not at all pushy, all smiles and gentle queries. The vibe is quite laid back, this is aided by the breezing table service - lots of seating, many waitresses floating about - and may also have a little to do with the ambient lighting. It's comfy and uses the furniture in the space provided well so as to avoid crowding - like having seating and standing areas. The Morgan is a modern, à la mode establishment and have made some effort to make the customers feel comfortable. Then there's the neat little touches like the ramekin of Bombay Mix I received when I ordered my first drink and also the fact that there is a bed in the bar. SWISH! The music of choice here is what I call Electro Lift music. Repetitive, pulsing tones that don't go anywhere and have no breaks - I can't tell if each song is 5 minutes or an hour long (or if they are different songs at all!). But, music is just a preference, however, what is more disagreeable is the imposing volume it's played at. Given how efforts have been made to make the customers feel at ease one has to wonder why they insist on playing loud, banal music at you. Another mark against The Morgan is that it is a little pricier than it's local competitors. Not hugely expensive but still noticeably more and that's always a negative. Also, after being inside for a while I started disliking the décor. It is mostly nice and modern but some aspects just seem a bit awkward, silver coloured plastic Elk heads jutting out from odd wall-space and other areas looking unmistakably bare. Perhaps this just isn't my sort of place (or perhaps I'm just too old and cynical to believe The Morgan is really as cool as it hopes to be - I am pushing 29 years old now y'know). A very nice & trendy boutique hotel located in Temple Bar, in the centre of Dublin. The rooms are large, comfy with an intimate atmosphere and modern and stylish furniture. For those who want to stay in shape, there is a gym and a swimming pool in the hotel. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to try it. The morning buffet will help you start the day with a full Irish breakfast, fruit salad, bread, croissants and all kinds of jams. If you do want to go out at night, you will be at the heart of everything in Temple Bar but if you are too lazy to leave the hotel, you can also have a few drinks at the hotel bar. read more

I hadn't been to The Morgan in ages. I think 2009 perhaps. Long time anyway! All I remembered from that period was expensive but very nice cocktails. I was invited to go to a belated birthday and Halloween party on Saturday. I brought some cash and went on my merry way, dressed up as a lumberjack. When I arrived, I was scrutinised heavily by the doormen, but they let me in all the same. And I am glad they did. I went in, met my friends, had a few pricey glasses of wine, then Jaeger shots and then some Guinness, all at higher but not ridiculous prices than normal and proceeded to a glorious night with my friends, including some excellent dancing with a really cool DJ and imitation? violinists and saxophonists. I would definitely go back-more for my age and maturity level. Not so many kids there for sure. read more

Overall we were really pleased with our stay. The staff were always pleasant and helpful & provided a free adapter for our electronics. The bed was very comfy & we had a cute balcony overlooking the alleyway behind the hotel. The only complaint was the noise level from the bars downstairs. I'd give a 3 1/2 star, if the option were available. 4 is a bit generous. I stayed here twice in July, about a week apart and my experience was like night and day. The first stay, the staff was really nice. The alley view wasn't terrible, and pretty much what you might expect in Temple Bar. The room was quite good with a decent size kitchen and plenty of space. It was clean and very minimal signs of wear and damage. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. Nearly 5 stars. The next stay, the desk dude didn't recognize us and obviously their reservation system isn't set up to prompt them that you are a returning guest. Not a big deal, but still. The room wasn't nearly as nice, showed some serious signs of wear. The sink was plugged. The view was the hostel across the alley, so we looked out at half-naked passed out partygoers with windowsills full of McDonalds bags and liquor bottles. We kept the curtains closed at all times. This room was definitely more noisy with a good amount of drunken mayhem not from the Temple Bar streets and pubs, but from the hostile hostel crowd - all night and into the morning. It is perhaps a good idea to ask for a room way from the hostel view. This was not quite a 3 star experience. The bar downstairs is popular with good reason. Trendy, fun and eclectic, it boasts some interesting cocktails and decent food. The staff are all awesome. A good place to escape to when you tire of listening to bad "Irish-ized" top 40 cover tunes and need a more upscale venue. read more

I stayed 5 nights at the Morgan Hotel because it looked like a great spot in the Temple Bar Area for a reasonable price. It far exceeded my expectations. The location is perfect - literally right in the heart of the Temple Bar in walking distance to great food (including the famous Boxty House), coffee, pubs (including the famous Temple Bar itself), shopping, desserts and more. The hotel itself is also grand with an elegant and welcoming ambiance. The staff though is absolutely incredible and their customer service is clearly a priority. At every step of the way I felt that each staff member went above and beyond to make sure my stay was nothing short of amazing. I regret not knowing each of their names, but on my last day of my stay Desiree went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. Thank you all for a lovely experience! Let me get cautionaries out of the way first for anyone thinking to stay here. 1) It's in the heart of the city life. This means: A) It can be very noisy at all hours of the night, especially on the weekends. Not for the light sleeper. B) Its exterior surroundings can be very crowded wth pedestrians, taxis, street performers, and bicyclists. C) It's located near restaurants, shops, and pubs that are tourist traps (Hard Rock Cafe, Thunderbird, Oliver St. John Gogarty, Carrolls, and American fast food restaurants). Venture a few blocks away for authentic food. D) The hotel itself can be very warm, especially on the top floor (4th). Humidity can't be wrangled out by the mere desktop fan the accommodations provide. E) The hotel is frugal on offering new bars of soaps, sample shampoos, and towels. Rather than daily replacing their samples, one has to ask for them to be replenished if staying more than one night. Depending on the attendant at the service desk below, it can be a pleasant experience or not. Now that I have given my reasons for it not being a 5 star experience, let me tell you about the charm and the flip side of being at the heart of Dublin's city life. This hotel is quite quirky in a way that is endearing. It's aesthetic favors a modernized colonial flair with neon purple chandeliers and swanky candelabras highlighting below large black leathered chairs and purple carpets. The rooms are reasonable in space with the basic commodities (fridge, tv, WiFi, iron and board, coffee/tea station, and robes). The bed was comfy and the shower spacious for both a bath and shower. There's enough closet space for two full suitcases and some light souvenir shopping bags while there's an in-room safe for valuables. All-in-all, the space was just perfect for a couple traveling and needing safe, comfy accommodations. There's also a lounge below and restaurant. Breakfast was included with our room and it was quite a spread (cereals, breads, fruits, warmed dishes, and cheeses). In the evening, the space offers both main meals and light bites with great cocktails. This place is worth a stay mind you that you don't object to any of the cautionaries listed above. read more

just a quick review of the bar - for a place that is in temple bar, has an extensive cocktail menu and caters to tourists, the drinks are overpriced (even considering they're in a tourist spot and cocktails are expensive) and really not all that good. if you're in the area and want a delicious cocktail, go down the street to the octagon bar. i apologize for the low rating and hope it will not discourage you from staying at this hotel because a friend of mine stayed here and loved it. their room was fabulous and luxuriant. and a bit quirky too :) in fact, i would probably stay at the hotel if i didn't live here already. and you really can't beat the location (unless you have an aversion to drunk people outside at 6 am. heh. but that's temple bar for ya!) read more

I don't usually give reviews but decided to change my mind Welp let's get into it. My boyfriend and I are doing a European two week excursion for my bday. I wanted to come to Ireland because it's a beautiful country and seems like an amazing place to visit. When choosing a hotel we decided we wanted to be in the thick of it and chose The Morgan. 1. Yes it is in the heart of Temple Bar and you will hear people on the street and noise ( no different from living in Manhattan, SF or downtown in any major city) I wasn't bothered by the noise and actually heard some pretty amusing Irish bar fights. 2. We are on the third floor and it gets hot as hell at night and it's October. We sleep with the window open. 3. Customer service, the staff doesn't speak to you at all. Actually no one has spoken to us since we checked in. 4. Cleanliness, so my mother is from the south and she always said cleanliness is next to godliness and let's just say this place isn't too godly. Okay so the first day here we didn't have full size bath towels...weird I know...... but we said hey, we'll make it work. Now here is the kicker.... the second day.......we have full size towels; yay!!! But when I pulled back the blanket to hop in the bed after a long day of walking, what do I see? A huge menstrual cycle stain that looks as if someone tried to scrub it out but was unsuccessful. (I wanted to post a pic but my boyfriend said no... (you can think him for sparing you all) Totally mortified and currently sleeping on top of the comforter. I like the ambiance and the location so for that they get 1 star. Never coming back and NEVER referring a friend. I'm disgusted. read more

The Morgan is rated as a 4 star hotel and I have no problem agreeing with this rating. I stayed here one night in a standard room and I was impressed by their style and decor. Like the cocktail bar situated on the ground floor, the rooms are modern and classy. Everything in my room was white: white beds, couches, tables and lamps. I had a little balcony that overlooked a quiet cul-de-sac. Even though I was in the busy area of Temple Bar, I barely heard any noise. I wasn't woken up by housekeeping either. Prices are standard: I payed 110 Euro for a double bed. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. I would like to come back soon and book another room for a special occasion. read more

I was disappointed with my stay here. While this hotel offers a convenient location - close to Temple Bar and within walking distance to tourist sites such as the Guinness storeroom and shopping as well as Dublin Castle - the furniture in the room was aged and worn and the staff were unhelpful. Around 11 in the morning on my last day in Dublin I asked for dinner recommendations and was referred to FXB. I asked for the lady at the front desk to make a reservation for me but she replied I 'shouldn't need one' as it was Thursday and wouldn't be busy. After a long and confusing walk (I asked the front desk how to get to FXB and was given very vague directions) I finally made it to FXB only to be told they were completely booked and I should've made a reservation. For the price I expected a bit tidier room and better assistance from the front staff. If I'm in Dublin again I would stay somewhere else. read more

Nice enough hotel, and we had a great rate. A little noisy, but what do you expect when you're right in the heart of Temple Bar? Great Location. The one negative that i just can't ignore is the smell - I stayed on the 3rd floor and the hallway. and worse, my room, smelled like cat urine. It burned the nose it was so intense. Just a note, the photos of this hotel are of the suite. Most room are much smaller (average size hotel room) with a bed, chair, desk, and bathroom. The bathroom has glass doors and a soaker tub, which is very hard to get out of. I would say I got stuck, but because it is also narrow it make for a difficult time to stand up. I ended up skinning my knee on the drain. The doors, I mentioned are glass. They are not see-through, but you can see barely an outline. The beds have goose feathers on them, which are nice but my husband I are are allergic to down, and the hotel seemed to never hear of such an allergy. It took a few phone calls to the front desk before they fully understood. Lucky for us they were able to find the only 2 pillows in the hotel that were cotton...I didnt dare ask for a second! The queen sized bed was actually 2 twins pushed together. My parents, who were staying a floor above ours, didnt have this issue. Back to the beds......the softest bed I have ever slept in, but not in a 'too soft, hurts your back' kind of way. Soft like, sleeping on angles wings, or perhaps a cloud. It was hard to get up that next morning. I kept thinking to myself, "at least you have another night here!" Now I gave this super posh hotel 3 stars, not because of anything listed above, alougth the tub was aggravating. I didnt like how loud the streets were at night. We soon realized that we were right next to a night club in the heart of Temple Bar. If I knew the hotel was in Temple Bar I would have known to stay away. Temple Bar, for anyone who doesnt know, is right near the Tinity College and is the heart of the torrist area, both making it fun but very loud. ALl night we listened to the sounds of streets; drunk college kids, lost torrists, some party..which I think was next door in the opposite hotel room. The second night the noise increased as the hotel was having some club time party going on. It didnt bother me. If I wasnt so tired from the long trip I might have gone down to see what was going on. It did, however, bother me that it went on like this until very early in the morning. I went to sleep at 3am and the music did not die down. I knew Temple bar was like this, but I didnt know the hotel would be loud as well. The hotel is right next to the HardRock Cafe, along with many other american type places and a lot of pubs. None of them were worth the visit to. We ended up eating at the Hard Rock twice. If you like Pub food, check out the local pubs. Most of them have the same menu. We tried the hotel food late one night, only have 2 options. The panini was dry and tasteless, but the bread was crisp. The chocolate cake was ok. I wouldnt try the food durring the day after this. The only saving grace to this hotel is the modern apeal. For overly trendy people, this hotel might come across as 'last years model' but to me, it was a nice change from the crappy hotels back in the states. I like modern, this hotel was euro modern = nice change. The plastic chairs were a bit much though and not comfy at all. The White couch was a bit fake too, being able to see the linen lines (see through fabric almost). Overall, 2.5-3 stars. read more

Great Location, but not worth the price. I just checked out this morning after a 5 night stay in Dublin and chose this hotel due to it's location, and overall look and feel via the website. The hotel was also on the more expensive end of hotels - but I was able to get a 15% discount for staying more than 3 nights - which was appreciated in my travel budget. I booked the room for 2 adults with 2 twin beds. We stayed in room 129. Pro's: - Early Check-In (much appreciated after an overnight flight from the USA) - Room was very clean - housekeeping does a nice job - The bathroom was large and modern with great water pressure. - Free pass to the Crunch gym around the corner that has a good workout area, locker rooms and a pool. Negative's: - The hallways were always a mess with housekeeping carts and linen - while I understand that operationally they may not have a closet to keep these things hidden - I would expect for a 4 star hotel that they would keep this eyesore out of sight. - The staff while friendly at check-in never acknowledges your presence anytime you have to walk by the front desk - which again, for a higher end accommodation is unusual. - The twin beds, well - I honestly can say they feel like they come from Ikea. Hard, not soft and the bed linens barely cover the bed - so you get quite chilly. - The TV by American standards at least is terribly small - but also adequate. - Security is weird - the front door is locked at night - and they let you in if you show your room card - this seemed a bit unusual - and you felt like the staff was always skeptical that you were in fact a guest. Another odd thing security wise was the lack of a peep hole in the door. Thirdly, on our second to last day - the maintenance guy knocked on our door - and I was in the room - presumably he was going to enter. He apologized and left - but it seemed odd that he wouldn't have access to a vacant or occupied rooms list to ensure he wasn't entering occupied rooms. - My mate attempted to go to the Morgan Bar one evening - and security gave him a hard time getting in until he said, well I'm a hotel guest - can't I get in? They very much picked guests that met a specific appearance. (we're clean cut American guys) Overall, I wouldn't stay here again - but with some improvements - this could really be a great property. I'm sure when it originally opened it was a very sexy, posh hotel - but with time and age it's lost its luster. The main thing - Temple Bar is a great area for food, nightlife and access to transportation. read more

Location was great with lots of nightlife, that was also the only issue. Bars close around 3am, people leave streets around 4am and street cleaners start around 5am. My partner booked this hotel for my 50th birthday as a surprise. I couldn't fault it, lovely big rooms with queen size bed, walk in shower, slippers, bathrobes, tea/coffee making facilities. Great breakfast with a choice to suit everyone. Great location for Temple Bar, Sightseeing & river. I can't comment on price because I didn't pay!
