I think about the fellow at the Mouse Pad all the time. Due to this actions and the effect he has had on me, I am quite certain I shall always think about him. When I came in the door, no-one else was there but the scruffy fellow behind the counter. He called a hello, but barely looked up. I went to him and waited to be acknowledged but he was busy on the computer and asked me what I needed without making eye contact. I began talking to him, but as his fingers were flying over the keyboard and he was staring at the screen I quit talking, thinking he wasn't listening. When he realized I was waiting for his attention, he sighed, rather dramatically dropped his arms straight down against his body and turned to look at me as if I were quite a pain in the backside. It was not an auspicious beginning. The computer I brought in was frozen, and it turned out to be un-fixable. No harm, no foul, it was nobody's fault, just one of those things. However, even though the computer couldn't be made functional, there were hundreds of files in it that were completely accessible and could be easily copied and saved. I was told this over the phone the next day when I called the fellow to ask about the diagnosis. He proposed to me that as the hardware was basically scrap, that he copy my documents, family pictures, and the copies of my CD's I had ripped to file, and he would save those files for me, in exchange for letting him have the PC tower for parts. Sounded good to me. I called the next week & he hadn't gotten to it. My calls were repeated on a weekly/ bi-weekly basis for at least 2 months and he never got to it. Finally, I let a couple more weeks slide by before calling again. When I did, he had NO CLUE who I was or what I was talking about. And they don't give you a receipt for your computer when you drop it off. This man's attitude to me now, was a combination of, indifference and irritation. I was horrified and outraged. And SO scared I would never see my lovely irreplaceable family photos again. A well grounded fear, as it turns out. I never have, and never will. Thanks for that, Mouse Pad. Thanks for losing all my digital photos. Thanks for losing the copies of older printed photos that I spent at least 10 days of my life laboriously scanning, one by one. Thanks for losing my resume, saved documents, my digital journal for my children... Thanks for losing all the clean copies of every CD I have ever purchased. In addition to the insulting way I was treated from the moment I walked through your door, the final offer of $15 off my 'next visit' as recompense for all you stole from my family was... would it be redundant to say it was adding insult to injury? It is my fervent hope that karma is REAL and that someone holds you down and does to you you, what you did to me. If you know what I mean. read more

NEVER EVER USE MOUSE PAD!!! The owner Jamie is extremely rude and I'm wondering if he might have mental issues. I brought my laptop in Nov 2012 to be fixed he called within a couple weeks and told he it would need a new hard drive and that he would give me my old hard drive and I would have to find someone to get the pics off of it. He told me it would be $140.00 to install a new smaller hard drive. I was like ok, I guess since I am not savvy on computers. I called him around a week later and told him I wouldn't be able to pick up the repaired computer right away because my husband just lost his job and it is Christmas time. He said that would be fine. I assured his I would pick it up beginning of January. I called several times beginning of January and he would never answer or it would go to message saying his voicemail is full. I finally got ahold of him and he told me he didn't have my computer anymore because it took to long for me to pick it up. I was so upset!! I said remember I talked to you about this and he said he had no recollection of ever speaking with me and got extremely rude with me. He finally admitted that he had my computer at his house. I told him I wanted MY computer and I would be in tomorrow morning to pick it up. The next morning I picked it up with my sister (I was afraid to go into his shop alone) and he had my computer open and running to showed me it worked. The software he had loaded looked extremely primitive but I took it anyways, paid him and went home. I got home and tried to turn it on with no luck. Called him to tell him that it still wasn't working and he hung up on me and told me to take my business elsewhere. I took my computer to Best Buy geek squad and they informed me that the hard drive he installed failed all 5 of their diagnostic tests!!!! I spent $140.00 for a broken hard drive!! I made the mistake of taking a computer into this place last year. After listening to James and his hustle for over a week I finally just went back, picked up my laptop with its amateur attempt of repair, (and his attempt to sell me another and allow him to just junk mine). When I did not see anything in the establishment that indicated he or his family was certified in any way with computer repair the first day I went there I should have turned around and left! read more
