Please, I beg you, do not go to have a music box repaired at The Music Box Shop in Phoenix, Arizona. I know this is a long review, but you do need to know the story! I can't for the life of me figure out why someone would give this company a favorable review. The repair person is Dawn. She had my music box from 5/4/24 until 6/15/24 and yet it was still broken when I got it home. She knew that I needed it for a memorial service--it's a music box that's been in our family for a few years and I wanted to display and play it. I wasn't able to bring the music box to the memorial because she was so late in returning it--it was such a horribly sad thing. I would call to see how the repairs were going and she put me off each time with a variety of excuses. She told me that the "comb" needed to be replaced and it would cost $175 because she had to order it from another music box repair person in California. I told her this was OK because I assumed it was indeed expensive--it's an old music box. She told me that something called the brass governor cup was "giving her trouble". She told me that she was having trouble with the "arm". She told me that the man in California was going to repair it. I called the man in California and he told me that she had sent a few music boxes like mine for repair and he didn't know which one was mine. On her invoice she wrote that her repairs were $150. Also on her invoice she noted that her materials were $239--SHE DIDN'T TELL ME IT WOULD BE THIS MUCH IN ADVANCE. The total was $389.30 and, oddly, the part for $175 was not listed. I can't tell what she actually did from her invoice or even if she bought a comb for $175. I had to pay it because I needed the music box back. I did, however, file a dispute with my credit card company who credited me back the $389.30 and will pursue my complaint with the Music Box Company. read more

She and her staff are very friendly and courteous, know their product and Dawn sure packs incredible for shipping. I have been very happy with music boxes I have purchased in the past. Dawn is always willing to allow browsing, and I always move slowly and respectfully in this beautiful shop. The previously written review was not the experience I had at all. I found the staff to be very friendly, helpful and I found exactly what I needed. They were even able to switch the music out of the box with a song I needed instead. There are signs asking not to personally handle the display merchandise, so If you respect that request I'm sure you won't have any issues. read more

WOW. All I have to say. Used their website as I live in Boston. Purchased an online order on 2 Fridays before Christmas, a popular day for free shipping. There website makes it appear as shipping will be free. Alas my package arrived on the 21st and the invoice has a $15 charge for shipping. I had already sprung $20 out of my price range for the gift since I was under the impression shipping was free. So I called and this woman was extremely rude. I haven't been able to see the gift since it is wrapped, even if it is great she lost a potential return customer. She was very dismissive and hung up on me rather quickly. You would think someone would be friendlier to a customer who spent $79, but apparently she's a bad business woman. I just got home from being nice to ***holes on the phone at work. Don't need her to be rude to someone who inquired without being hostel. SHOP THINGS REMEMBERED OR SOMEWHERE ELSE. May have found a bride for the Grinch. read more
