We first became aware of The Narrow Lane through a cold call when we were looking for a landscaper for our front yard back in the fall of 2024. We contacted a number of companies and it was The Narrow Lane and Jeremy that we seemed to connect with. A couple of months later, right after Thanksgiving, we were the proud owners of a beautifully landscaped yard. I will admit that I was dubious about putting in all those mature plantings at that time of the year but Jeremy assured us that they would be fine and he was right--we had an amazing Spring of blooms and the excitement of experiencing new plants appearing in the yard. The quality of work and attention to detail caused us to go back to The Narrow Lane again last Spring to do a total renovation and redesign of our back yard. While we were impressed by the quality of work and attentiveness to detail that we experienced with the first project we were absolutely blown away with what Jeremy, Matt, and The Narrow Lane were able to deliver for the backyard. It is truly a work of art and we are so happy that not only did we re-engage with The Narrow Lane for this project but that we gave them complete control over the design and implementation. Neighbors now stop by to explore the yard and we are known in the area as "that house with the amazing landscaping". Based on these landscaping experiences over the past year we have now also contracted with The Narrow Lane to maintain the gardens and yard during the growing season as well as to provide us with snowplowing and shoveling in the winter. I will admit that they are not inexpensive to work with but the prices are totally justified by the quality of work, the care and attention that they have brought to everything that they do, and their continuing care that they bring to our property. We have found everyone from the company that we have engaged with to be consummate professionals that bring a new level of care and respect to the properties they take on as projects. I would not do business with this company again. We hired one of their landscape designers to create a redesign for our front yard and paid a substantial fee for the design. Our contract specifically stated that we were not required to hire the company to perform the installation work and that the designer would revise the design based on our feedback. The designer visited the property, evaluated the site, and later scheduled a Zoom meeting to present the design. During the meeting, the company owner joined the call. After the designer finished presenting the plan, I started to provide my first piece of feedback but the owner cut me off before I could finish and stated that the design phase was complete and that I would need to hire the company to perform the installation if I wanted any changes made. The interaction was unexpected and inconsistent with my understanding of the contract. The designer appeared uncomfortable, and I found the owner's tone rude, unfriendly, and intimidating. What should have been a collaborative discussion about minor revisions became an unpleasant experience. read more

Frankly, I have great impression after the first phone call on Thursday. The lady was friendly, answered my questions, set an appointment (Friday) and promised me to email me the details. That's the first 10 minutes. Thursday night: I waited and waited but no emails from the company. I thought. well, the appointment was the next day so no emails should be fine. Friday (Appointment day): I waited and waited, no one came. I thought maybe it's "next Friday". So, I called the company, went to voicemail. I left a message. No one called back. Weekend: I waited and waited, no one called back. I called again, still went to voicemail. Monday: I called again around 9AM and another call around 1pm, still went to voicemail. I left a message. Agreed to a Zoom consult re plantings., then changed the date and time, then blew it off completely.

We hired narrow lane to redo our driveway and garden and add a patio to our small outdoor space. They worked quickly and did beautiful work. The price seemed high at first but in the end what we got for the amount we spent was well worth it. Highly recommend. read more

Ron and his team did an excellent job bringing the exterior of our house back to life! Ron was prompt and professional in person and via email. We use Narrow Lane for general landscaping/cleanup/lawn cutting, and we just had them put sod down in our backyard. They are very responsive, very professional, very reliable. The best landscape company I've ever dealt with. They may be a little bit more expensive than hiring a regular landscape guy, But they do much much more then mow the grass. they do all kinds of gardening and planting and planning , sprinkler systems, plowing etc. I have use them for a year now, and I've been very very happy. I need some grading done and some more planting of trees and bushes and they're going to do that for me this year too. I sought out the Narrow Lane on the recommendation of a friend who had some stunning work done and recommended the company. As ours was a "small" job we were pleasantly surprised to find that they fit our job in sooner than expected. We are thoroughly pleased with the final job. Can't rave enough about how hardworking, diligent and perfectionist the workers were. Most were not English speaking but we managed to communicate the few concerns we had. I'll say it again- we were amazed while watching how often they checked and rechecked to see that things were really perfect. The cuts that they made in the bluestone were astounding, and their artistry was such a joy to watch as it progressed. Once we saw them and their work, we felt like the ultimate cost was a true bargain. You DO get what you pay for. Ron has great ideas and will have a respectful discussion when he disagrees with an idea- explaining why that is a bad idea either artistically or in following the rules of nature. As with many many artistic people, his strength is in his creativity, not his on the dot business practices. We had a few blips in our initial consult and meetings, but he was very good natured when he made a mistake. I would suggest good manners and respectful and good humored acceptance of mix-ups and you will be pleased with the experience. The more flexible you can be, the better. The office manager Lori is there to help answer questions and she is lovely, prompt and gets things sorted out- a true asset to the business. Lastly, if any changes are made to the original plans that are drawn up-I would urge that you speak with the project manager to see that they have been communicated. That was a bit of a item for us but not a big deal at the end of the day. That initial conversation would have avoided the issue. read more

Was expecting an estimate by end of that week. Nothing. Called over the weekend and left a message requesting an estimate and call back. Nothing. Today is 6/27. So unprofessional. We gave Narrow Lane our landscape contract based on the promise that they would never use pesticides. On the first day of service they applied pesticides. We asked them to tell us what pesticides they used. They still haven't provided that information. read more

On a short timeline Ron at Narrow Lane Landscaping Company met with us and discussed landscaping the front and side areas and a new lawn installation for our home. We appreciated that he listened carefully to our concerns and well as to the style and plant materials that interested us. He provided us with excellent information, pros and cons and the turn around was quick on providing the design plans. We again met in person to finalize which was really helpful for us to imagine our landscaping. The lawn crew was fantastic. Troy and Steve could not have been nicer and they were just as committed to having us have the design we wanted. They happily moved plant material "just two inches over to the left" and made sure we were satisfied at all stages. Used them for snow removal: Ron damaged our fence and tried his best to not fix it. Chipped masonry around the property, and ditto. Misbehaved with neighbors. Tried to cheat on invoices too -- asked for and received an advance but didn't include in the invoice. Tried to double bill us when he "lost" a check (only backed off when presented cleared check from bank). Online persona seems warm and responsive, so signed up, but in dealings was a bit of a scammer. read more

Ron was very responsive over email and was available to do fall cleanup within the week's end at a very reasonable price. I felt that some leaves were left over (unless a whole bunch of leaves fell between the morning and evening), so Ron offered to do a "touch-up" at no charge, which resulted in a super-clean yard.
