I made my last payment in Dec. 2025, because there had been many times we did not receive a paper. When it was delivered, it was not put in the paper box, the paper came wet, in the driveway, or in the snow bank. I finally decided it was time (after many years) to cancel the paper. I called in January, February and March in an attempt to cancel. I called over a dozen times, only to have the paper continue to be delivered over my cancellation. Now they are telling me I owe for all the deliveries I did not want. The News Herald has become a bad bad company. I suggest anyone thinking about starting a subscription to think again. They do not know the meaning of customer service. read more

The paper is overpriced, small and the carrier hardly ever brings it now. What a waste of money!!! You can call and report it to an overseas person but nothing is ever done about it. The recording you get when you call to report it is pure BS. Unfortunately, I can't cancel it because my husband wants it. If it were up to me, they would have lost us as a customer years ago!!!!! When we don't get it, my husband goes out and buys one so we pay double for practically nothing. read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Paper is not delivered constantly, no refunds given if you try to cancel, constant call by telemarketing trying to get you to add more to your account (despite asking them to stop). read more

Great example of why print media is failing. Barely passes as a news paper it has so few pages. Hidden fees for supposed special editions is not listed anywhere on the bill. Driven by a clear and biased liberal political agenda. Too many errors to count in my opinion and simply regurgitate the national Liberal propaganda machine. Tried two times to cancel my subscription but they keep sending me the bill. I spoke customer service once and the next time wrote it on the bill and sent it back in. I was interested in trying The News-Herald ever since the Plain Dealer cut back their delivery days. When I attended Vintage Ohio Wine Fest, The News Herald had a booth set up so I signed up for a 13 week subscription to give it a try. Big mistake! In the past 18 days, there has been no paper 4 times. During my second call last Sunday, after a third missed paper, I called to cancel my subscription. However, later that morning, I was visited at my home by the newspaper distributor who promised that I would receive the paper, and would personally make sure that the delivery occurred. He said that he would let The News-Herald know that I was willing to give the delivery another try. All this week I received a newspaper and I assumed the problem had been solved. However, today, once again, no paper. When I made my third call this morning, the customer service rep said that I didn't receive a newspaper today because my subscription had been canceled beginning today, per my request! When I explained my conversation with the News-Herald distributor, she had no idea what I was talking about, or an explanation about why I would have received a newspaper all week and now all of a sudden it was canceled. She offered to start it back up but I am tired of this back and forth, inept delivery. It was interesting because not one of the Customer Service reps apologized or seemed to care that the paper was not being delivered. My experience with the newspaper when it arrived was alright. It's definitely a local paper, which I expected, and I am not sure that I would have continued my subscription after the original 13 weeks ran out, but I just don't have the patience to track down my paper 1-2 times a week and wait out the initial subscription. read more

I have been a subscriber to the News-Herald my entire adult life and my parents before me. This paper is nothing like it use to be. It keeps getting smaller and more expensive. If it were not for the Classic Auto Group, there would not be a News-Herald. The expression in my house is "I'm going to read the New-Herald....I be busy for four minutes". Every time I write out a renewal check, I wonder why I am buying this thing. There is very little the Herald actually writes. Most of the news on the first few pages is re-prints of AP news feeds, and when it finally makes it the NH, it is old news. Most of the editorials are reprints of editorials from other papers??? I stopped my subscription to the NH last fall. In April I got an incentive from the NH to come back. For a special rate for 26 weeks, I would get Sunday delivery, on-line access, access to the Washington Post, and a $10 gift card. Well here we are in mid August and despite three phone calls and two emails, I have still do not have the gift card or access to the Washington Post. As for a so called LOCAL newspaper, their call center is in Arizona and their billing department is in Texas. read more
